Reilly has some of the best reflexes in our team. When is the club going to learn that Brent Reilly is slow as shit and weak as piss ! his kicking is vastly overrated in the way that for 7 beautiful kicks there are 3 massive turnovers . The most overrated player of the last 10 years !!!!
I thought I was watching an episode of Once Upon a Time.
Sounds legit![]()

No way Laird will miss out.Surely Shaw & Martin are SANFL bound. Crouch & Lynch must be playing in the AFL. That leaves one of Reilly, Laird & Grigg to miss out - much to the surprise of nobody (I think we've all known that this was going to be the case). I'm guessing that Grigg will get to play in the SANFL this week.
You do realise Reilly's form against the Saints was on par with 2013? All of a sudden he's going to recapture 2012 form when he didn't have an opponent? And yes I do trot that line out because it is a fact. His 2011 was shit. His 2013 was shit. He's been average this year.
I also expect more from Danger than Reilly because he is a good player. Reilly isn't so I want him out, I want someone better with a future. I also understand superstars don't grow on trees, someone in between Reilly and Danger would do, someone like Smith. And it's not that hard a concept, keep average players in your team means you don't win finals, let alone flags.
Sando was praising Laird after the game last week, I'm sure of it.Vader trust me Laird won't be dropped and is very much regarded as best 22
Laird's move to the forward line was more to do with a strong need (tackling pressure) for the forward structure and the coaches trusted Laird to play this role
Laird's move forward also showed the versatility that is mow needed in a player considering the interchange cap with this in mind players like Laird who can play multiple roles and play them well are high value to the team
You do realise by bringing up the Jaensch and Henderson comparison that you are supporting what I am saying? In 2012 he played as a loose man. So now the argument turns to whether you believe he can recapture his 2012 form even though this year he is accountable for an opponent. Is that what you are saying? You repeating the same stuff doesn't make it any more true. Once again - haven't seen you on here saying Henderson isn't that good (his only stretch of good games came without an opponent), same with Jaensch. Or is this little 'doesn't have an opponent' line reserved for Reilly.
You are still stuck in the 2007/2008/2009 years. Who is Reilly keeping out? We have a huge injury list and have missed out on 4 draft picks - the cupboard is pretty bare. I agree he had a bad 2013 and his Saints game wasn't great, but want to see him given an opportunity to get settled for the next few games.
If Reilly can get back to his 2012 form - then he is easily best 22 in our squad.

But he didn't have an opponent, it's not snide. You basically confirmed it without realising it!I am saying good football is good football.
He played well in 2012 and made the All Australian Squad. He finished 6th in our B&F. You have to throw out snide little remarks about how he didn't have an opponent.
He was actually one of our best in 2010/2011. No matter how much you want to try and spin it - he was. But you will try and throw out some snide bullshit that says he wasn't.
With Reilly - he is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he plays well - you will find some reason that devalues his worth. If he has a bad game it is evidence that he is the worst player going around.
I believe he can recapture his form from 2012 and if he does he will be a very very valuable member of our best 22.
Hmmm...I was at Metricom to witness VB smashing shite out of Gablett last year. VB did a real number on him.Bullshit he isn't. Those players might be heavily tagged, but I've never seen Ablett and Pendles physically smashed.
But he didn't have an opponent, it's not snide. You basically confirmed it without realising it!
His 2011 was poor, he was our tagger that regularly got beaten. That's not spin, that is a fact.
I'm glad you think he can recapture his 2012 form. Pity you are deluded, unless of course he again plays without an opponent.
Hmmm...I was at Metricom to witness VB smashing shite out of Gablett last year. VB did a real number on him.
So when VB tackled Ablett with his 2 tackles that day did he ram him into the ground? How about when Ablett went up for a mark did he have a Crows player meeting him front on and almost knock him out?Hmmm...I was at Metricom to witness VB smashing shite out of Gablett last year. VB did a real number on him.
WTF? I've hedged? Show me where I have said Reilly can't play well without an opponent. And I am glad you have hedged. If he does recapture his form you can say - 'he is still shit, anyone could do that without an opponent'. If he doesn't you can say 'I always knew he was shit'...
Wonder how you are going to hedge your statement that Gary Ablett has never received physical batterings....
Interesting you can't distinguish between a hard tag and some pinching to being driven into the groundThere are so many examples its ridiculous. Look at the Crowley matchup. Look at when Baker used to go head to head with Ablett. Josh Carr when he played for Freo.
Elite players get smashed. The good ones keep moving and work hard to beat the tag.
So when VB tackled Ablett with his 2 tackles that day did he ram him into the ground? How about when Ablett went up for a mark did he have a Crows player meeting him front on and almost knock him out?
Again you seem to struggle with the concept of a hard tag and being smashed. If you've only laid two tackles it's pretty difficult to claim you've smashed a bloke. On your 1st point, yes he did. On your 2nd, yes again. Ablett won a free from that incident and kicked a goal IIRC. VB bumped, shepherded, harassed and got in the face of Ablett for the entire match and reduced his effectiveness. It was a good and under-rated performance by VB as so many of his are.
The assumption that no side has a strategy to nullify the champions of the AFL is ludicrous. The elite in the competition deal with this every week as Danger must learn to do.
As for Reilly, people on here keep saying he was crap in 2013. He only played a half dozen games. And yes, his output was down on 2012. The obsession with continually using this bloke as a whipping boy is laughable. Reilly is the new Robert Shirley. Another fine servant of our club.
B grade. Not C grade. His 2012 was outstanding. His start to 2013 was poor, largely the result of Sando getting the pre-season completely wrong. Then he got injured. There was absolutely nothing wrong with his form prior to 2012 either. Reilly is currently 3 games into a return from long term injury. He deserves to be given the opportunity to get up to speed.
Now, he may or may not make it back to where he was. If he doesn't, then so be it. But he does deserve that opportunity.
With Reilly - he is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he plays well - you will find some reason that devalues his worth. If he has a bad game it is evidence that he is the worst player going around.
You can take your spin on the move, I'll take mine. Either way, I'm expecting both Reilly & Laird to play on Sunday, with Grigg missing out.
Gotta love your spin though.. Laird's move is because he offers versatility, yet when players like VB & Reilly get moved around it's because they're not good enough to hold their old position. In all 3 cases it's because Sando wants to achieve a certain team structure and these players get given different jobs because that's the best way of fitting them into Sando's jigsaw.
No he isn't.
If Reilly was playing well, Id welcome him into the team with open arms while Hendo recovers.
When Reilly is on, he reads the game well, takes so many intercept marks or kills a 2v1 contest completely, and he actually hits his targets. Sure he doesn't have a direct opponent, but when he's providing that for the team and actually playing his loose man role well, who cares.
Truth of the matter is that he has done none of the above listed since 2012. People wanted Porps out of the side given his age and younger kids waiting in the wings. I think we do the same with Reilly. He's really just not cutting it right now. Even against a dismal Saint Kilda, he was providing little to no rebound, he turned the ball over under almost no pressure and was rarely protecting our back 6.
If we want Grigg and Lynch back in the side, then for me its Martin and Reilly that go. Reilly has done nothing to keep his spot.
West AdelaideStill when Reilly finishes his career he'll be around 220 games .....for those who say stats is the manner in determining whether he's been good or indifferent ...guess the #of total games says he hasn't been as bad as his detractors have us believeAnd I will add people get seduced by his 2012 however his first half of 2012 was exception whereas his second half of 2012 was pretty much reflective of his broader career that is pass mark at best...... Radar wasn't even able to sustain his early season form across the 2012 season
You just described dogga!![]()
So Danger is given leeway to perform well below his best because he's carrying an injury, but Reilly is given none, despite being 2 games into a return from injury which kept him out of the game for almost a year and ensured that he didn't play a single game during the pre-season? Talk about double standards.
