I heard what Noble said and to be honest, I don't think he knew what the true story was. His comments were somewhat confused. Its feasible (but a bit odd) that he wasn't in the loop. Brodie Martin was the traveling emergency. Why all of the fitness testing on Grigg Saturday if he was dropped?

I think Noble tripped up.
Alright, but I think Grigg got dropped and we used his fitness cloud to delay the news that we were turfing a young player after we've just lost three games and keeping all the under-performing senior players. Noble tripped up I agree by accidentally telling the truth.

The same this week. Grigg is playing SANFL. Two players were held back - Martin and Shaw, not Grigg.

Easing back into it after one week off? Nah. He just got dropped.

I wouldn't be reading too much into the club keeping 2 emergencies cherry ripe, one tall, one small.

Wouldn't mind giving shaw a run though for Rutten.

Especially with the 3 talls in the Giant's forward line, I don't think this necessarily means anything

Can someone explain the Grigg story to me in 25 words or less?
He's following our long line of SANFL yo yos
- Jaensch
- Lyons
- Martin
- Petrenko
- Johnston
- Kerridge
- McKernan

They're in, they're out
We're ***ing about
Ya ho, ya ho, ya ho

Possibly

Much better we hold a Martin type back as emergency who's development has stalled than rob a Grigg or a CEY of important game time.

Martin, Porps, L.Thompson should always be the travelling/standby emergencys when we have minimal chance of a late change. Good enough to play a role if somebody pulls up sore or gets sick but no real drama if they miss a few weeks of footy.

The optional voting system doesn't really affect my argument at all. You're showing a fundamental lack of understanding of the measure that you're using. You're relying upon a ranking.

This is the most salient point. One that cuts Vaders simplistic argument off at the knees.

The B&F is a ranking, it just is.

Vader is wrongly trying to present it as a standard

A standard can be compared across categories a ranking cannot.

Put another way best of a bad lot cannot be used to mean best outside of that specific list. Not without other measures and criteria.

To use it on its own is to confuse the metric.

Needs a full hit out in the sanfl after injury.

Will be back in the afl side.

Better off using lesser players like Martin & Shaw as emergencies who may miss a game.

Why can't Sam Shaw just go away forever.

He could be a real quality player if he solves his kicking issues. That said, i'd rather persist with Hartigan.

Hence it has no meaning on it's own.
No, but the fact that he was regularly accumulating votes, under a system where the coaches are under no obligation to award them, is an indicator that they were happy with his performance. If he wasn't performing, then he would have been given 0 votes. He polled votes regularly, indicating that he was playing well.

Where did he rank on votes per game in 2011?

We always travel with one, where did you get the idea we don't from? Martin was the traveling emergency, I would have thought that's fairly obvious. Unlike what people on BF think, the selectors don't deliberately play games with all of you to piss you off. If Grigg was going to be dropped for Martin, it would have happened on the Friday, not as a late change on the Sunday. Grigg suffered a very severe corkie very late in the Sydney game, I'm surprised he wasn't ruled out earlier in the week.

So noble was deliberately playing games with us this week when he stated that Grigg was right to play but they chose Martin for more foot speed. Make up your mind, do they play games or not. You can't have it both ways, but you will no doubt push on nonetheless.

Yet martin appears to be ahead again this week. Do you have any form of valid evidence to support your view.
