Do I get to string Abbott up from a balcony in the nearest piazza?

So, I take it you really do believe people shouldn't have the right to vote (because government doesn't concern them?!)
If serious, God no, i'm a Burkean conservative all the way (except for obviously l support gender equality and that everyone should have the right to vote, not just property owners), fascism, extreme democracies, liberal democracies, socialism/communism all have their flaws.

Sorry, back on topic.

hahaha

5 changes

Like Scott would ever do that.

2 maybe 3 at most at the very most.

In: Wood, Dumont, Brown, Harper
Out: Daw, Adams, Bastinac, Gibson*

FF: Black Petrie Wood
HF: Ziebell Brown Thomas
C: Harvey Dal Santo Mullett
HB: McDonald Hansen Atley
FB: Wright Thompson Firrito
F: Goldstein Cunnington Greenwood

I: Swallow Dumont Harper
S: Jacobs

* This is really interchangeable with Jacobs or other players who get the bulk of the footy on the defensive side of the midfield and who do not have great disposal. I am going in with the bare minimum of changes.

I don't want to see Wells walk straight into the side, but if he is then he would replace the survivor of Gibson/Jacobs.

I don't think Gibson or Jacobs are terrible footballers, we just have way too many of the same type. Dumont might be more of the same, but he has shown from his VFL games that he can play in the forward half, would like to see him interchange with Ziebell/Thomas/Black/Wood predominately and also be given a run through the middle.

Cunnington to play the extractor role, Swallow can provide rotation for him and Greenwood predominately, when both Cunnnington and Swallow are both in the middle then Cunnington is the designated extractor with Swallow keeping his feet and looking to receive, his job (and Greenwood's job) is the critical one to find the outside players rather than to look to go long (unless it is raining).

Brown should be the CHF who is the go to target for panic kicks, his main job is to provide a contest and bring the ball down to our advantage if he can't mark. The two flanks to push deep outside the forward 50 and provide options for the midfield when they clear from stoppages and in their wake is the room for Black and Wood to lead to the 30-50m zones with Petrie holding back to the goal square. If the midfield can penetrate to 70m region or if the half forward get possession then he provides the lead 15-30m out in the corridor, in his wake the goal square will be vacant in case the options are not good and a player has a shot on goal.

This momentum is critical, leads create options and also create space for other options. We also need the midfielders that can run and carry and look to deliver inside 50 from the attacking side of the midfield with shorter range flatter passes rather than longer high elevation bombs.

Harper to rotate with Boomer, NDS and Mullett, would also like to see Atley have some stints up the ground for short 5min periods if he is not getting much drive from the back half just to reinforce the attacking mindset he needs to have even as a defender. Ziebell and Thomas to play a lot further out of goal, these guys are dangerous with the ball in the 70m range from goal. Defensively, Mullett has been ordinary this year but I would like to see him given a more aggressive role and we know when he receives the ball around the 50m arc he is usually a pretty good shot on goal on the run.

On the run is critical. We need to have a lot more momentum, a lot less chip kick, go back over the mark and look for other lateral short range uncontested marks which result in our forward 50 becoming congested by the time we are in a position to go forwards with any purpose. We need to be a lot more damaging from our clearances, a lot more damaging from our defensive rebounds.

He wont do it but our structure is shot atm and it is just not feasible to correct with just 2 or 3 changes.

As I wrote I wouldn't be surprised if only one change with the usual deck chair shuffling.

In my opinion all those 5 players deserve to be axed after repeated poor form. Against GWS we should be looking to come up with new strategies and structures with the view to improving the team before finals (if in fact we make it)

as a club we do not have many superstars, we have alot of very good footballers that when they do what is expected we in most cases win, changing one player will not make a huge impact for us, neither will changing three or four players. It is about getting these very good footballers to consistently perform under their own wind. I am sure that Hodge and Selwood do not need a coach to tell them to come ready to play each week. I do not care about the change in personal, I care more about the change in desire and preparedness to follow through on what is expected each week.

We all have the right to express our opinions freely here on Big Footy, unless, of course, I think your right is wrong. ;)

It's just important not to bring politics into the forum...
Stuff that affects life? Nah, stuff that.

Where's the nearest non-North-thingsweshouldn't talkaboutthread?

"Just remember that you're posting on a thread that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
With posting at nineteen words a second, so it's reckoned,
A club that is the source of all our power.

The club and you and me, and all the players we can see
Are devolving at a million kicks a game
In an wider footy league, at forty thousand games a round,
Of the sport we call the Australian national game.

Our team itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's history 'bout hundred and fifty years side to side.
It bulges near the end, four premierships thick,
But out by us, it's just one final win wide.

We're thirty thousand light years from premiership central point.
We supposed to go 'round every eighteen years... well
But now our club is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding AFL.

The AFL itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million members a year, and that's the fastest speed there is.

So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
And you think "How amazingly likely is our fall?",
Just pray that there's intelligent life somewhere in the club,
'Cause there's bugger all in BF at all.

Beautiful stuff Kimbo.

I was being thoroughly tongue in cheek with my post, hence the Remove the Toenail (not sure if he has that nickname in Australia) hashtag. It was just taking me back to my old taxi driving days and the adage of never talk about politics, religion, and football in the cab...but most of the time we would talk about politics, religion, and football. And when the drivers got together at changeover time...lots of life-affecting stuff discussed with lots of life. Ahhh, the good old days.

My changes:
Out: Daw (Still a believer but give him a spell), Mullet (Same)
In: Wood, Dumont
Grima a full game in VFL.
NDS named on interchange.
Adams sub again.
Emergencies: Hine, Harper, Brown

You fired the first shot be making yourself look like an idiot.
If people are going to get labeled idiots for voicing their opinion on here, there surely are a lot of idiots on here, none bigger than you! You fired the first shot for actually thieving oxygen off this planet you complete muppet!

You weren't labeled an idiot for having an opinion. You were labeled an idiot because you threatened to burn your membership if Dumont and Wood weren't selected.

What it does it matter?

We win - and the same annointed blokes get retained. Maybe a couple of minor changes.

We lose - we'll back in these blokes. Maybe a couple of minor changes.

The trifling details of how players go about it are irrelevant.

Luckily it's getting harder to give a f***. So glad the game isn't in Melbourne this weekend. Can do something enjoyable instead.

BANG

This is where I am at.

This kid will play this week, mark my words. He looks to have all the tools, give him a full game off the half-forward flank in the Adams role and he'll get you a few goals and possessions.

Which in all fairness was only really intended as a tongue in cheek exaggeration of being not happy with some players not being rewarded for VFL form when some senior players are not performing. Hardly grounds for being called an idiot. But if that is your way, so be it

Great post :)

In the same interview where Brayshaw called Brad 'elite' he also mentioned something from his own sporting career, where he looked up at the scoreboard one day and realised he needed to decide whether he wanted to be the best cricketer he could be. A lot of our players need to have that moment, and grab it by the throat. Brad has been backing most of them in, which for the most part I think has been the right choice. But the environment is changing now, and certain individual players HAVE to decide whether they just want to play football with their mates, or whether they want a damned flag.

From memory JB said something like "I know when I was batting and I was dismissed after playing a ridiculous shot I didn't walk off cursing my coach for my own stupidity".

Out: Daw, Petrie, Jacobs, Bastinac, Patch, downhill skiing
In: Brown, Wood, Wells, Dumont, Harper, hardness

I'd really like to see how a forward line without Petrie would function given his terrible form - overall I rate his form as worse than Black's.

NB # 13 for NMFC # 13.

Dumont kicked a set shot from 53m, held marks under some pressure, was clean below the knees, hit targets by hand and foot, 36 disposals, 10 marks, 10 inside 50s, 3 goals.

Look nah to make it as an AFL player you need to be able to kick over a jam tin, fumble about and generally stink it up.

P.S. Adams now has 33 inside 50s and 7 goals, 7 assists for the year from 18 games. 1 goals and 1 goal assist from his last 8.
