* This is really interchangeable with Jacobs or other players who get the bulk of the footy on the defensive side of the midfield and who do not have great disposal. I am going in with the bare minimum of changes.
I don't want to see Wells walk straight into the side, but if he is then he would replace the survivor of Gibson/Jacobs.
I don't think Gibson or Jacobs are terrible footballers, we just have way too many of the same type. Dumont might be more of the same, but he has shown from his VFL games that he can play in the forward half, would like to see him interchange with Ziebell/Thomas/Black/Wood predominately and also be given a run through the middle.
Cunnington to play the extractor role, Swallow can provide rotation for him and Greenwood predominately, when both Cunnnington and Swallow are both in the middle then Cunnington is the designated extractor with Swallow keeping his feet and looking to receive, his job (and Greenwood's job) is the critical one to find the outside players rather than to look to go long (unless it is raining).
Brown should be the CHF who is the go to target for panic kicks, his main job is to provide a contest and bring the ball down to our advantage if he can't mark. The two flanks to push deep outside the forward 50 and provide options for the midfield when they clear from stoppages and in their wake is the room for Black and Wood to lead to the 30-50m zones with Petrie holding back to the goal square. If the midfield can penetrate to 70m region or if the half forward get possession then he provides the lead 15-30m out in the corridor, in his wake the goal square will be vacant in case the options are not good and a player has a shot on goal.
This momentum is critical, leads create options and also create space for other options. We also need the midfielders that can run and carry and look to deliver inside 50 from the attacking side of the midfield with shorter range flatter passes rather than longer high elevation bombs.
Harper to rotate with Boomer, NDS and Mullett, would also like to see Atley have some stints up the ground for short 5min periods if he is not getting much drive from the back half just to reinforce the attacking mindset he needs to have even as a defender. Ziebell and Thomas to play a lot further out of goal, these guys are dangerous with the ball in the 70m range from goal. Defensively, Mullett has been ordinary this year but I would like to see him given a more aggressive role and we know when he receives the ball around the 50m arc he is usually a pretty good shot on goal on the run.
On the run is critical. We need to have a lot more momentum, a lot less chip kick, go back over the mark and look for other lateral short range uncontested marks which result in our forward 50 becoming congested by the time we are in a position to go forwards with any purpose. We need to be a lot more damaging from our clearances, a lot more damaging from our defensive rebounds.

Sounds like a well thought out plan. Wells doesn't need to play VFL does he ?I thought Patch being given the vest in his 100th game may have been the writing on the wall. He saved himself a few weeks back with 15 odd possessions in 40 minutes. That didn't happen this time, so I think he will be out.
- Brown for Daw. I'm a Majak fan, but there are clearly structural problems up forward & the bottom line is that the forward line looked better when Brown played, no matter what the reasoning.
- Dumont for Adams. I hope he doesn't end up playing that permanent forward role he showcased in that YT video, but it's perfect for a 1st gamer.
- Wood for Black. Flexibility. We can yell at Brad Scott for not making changes during games, but one overlooked point is that we don't have much flexibility (apart from Hansen, who is just fine down back). At least Wood can move up the ground for 5-10 mins a quarter. Or vice-versa, play the deep role when Brown/Daw goes into the ruck.
- Wells for Mullet or anyone who isn't 100% fit. Straight back in means it will have to be green vest.
If Cameron was playing, I'd be tempted to risk Grima, but I don't think he's required just yet.
This kid will play this week, mark my words. He looks to have all the tools, give him a full game off the half-forward flank in the Adams role and he'll get you a few goals and possessions.
Gotta get the cheese eating surrender monkey into the team. I know competition is stiff for inside mid roles but I think Trent could consider himself a bit hard done by if he finishes the year with 2-3 games. Should have had a taste already.
It's about Sam Wright's turn to feel the wrath of the selectors.

What the f*** is the point of us making moves like that?
Surprised you'd need an emoticon to know that Mr Reliable was being Mr Sarcastic there.
Must be losing touch.
May need a run in the twos.
