I don't buy that. Why is it too late for Dumont or Wood to get a game? The players they'd be replacing (Adams et al) add nothing to the team, so it's not a risk trying someone else, it's just common sense. But yeah, Adams will magically come good in the next few weeks, and we wouldn't want to unsettle the team by dropping someone who's been playing poorly...
I totally agree, the names that repeatedly get thrown around to be dropped based on form should have been. But should have been six weeks ago. If they have persisted until now, why would they drop them a month before finals to try three debutants in a single game? Against a team who won't be playing finals and will be no measuring stick about how Wood, Dumont or Turner would play against a quality finals like team. Team has to settle and try and gather form before finals.
It is a complete risk to try someone else, especially someone who is untried all together. Max Warren had 2 disposals and 2 tackles in his debut game against Brisbane... Brown had 8 disposals in his debut and kicked one goal against Melbourne and only one single disposal in his next game...
Your optimism that these players are going to have an impact straight away is folly. If they do have an impact, thats great, but they aren't going to come in and make us a top four side straight away.
