I don't buy that. Why is it too late for Dumont or Wood to get a game? The players they'd be replacing (Adams et al) add nothing to the team, so it's not a risk trying someone else, it's just common sense. But yeah, Adams will magically come good in the next few weeks, and we wouldn't want to unsettle the team by dropping someone who's been playing poorly...

I totally agree, the names that repeatedly get thrown around to be dropped based on form should have been. But should have been six weeks ago. If they have persisted until now, why would they drop them a month before finals to try three debutants in a single game? Against a team who won't be playing finals and will be no measuring stick about how Wood, Dumont or Turner would play against a quality finals like team. Team has to settle and try and gather form before finals.

It is a complete risk to try someone else, especially someone who is untried all together. Max Warren had 2 disposals and 2 tackles in his debut game against Brisbane... Brown had 8 disposals in his debut and kicked one goal against Melbourne and only one single disposal in his next game...

Your optimism that these players are going to have an impact straight away is folly. If they do have an impact, thats great, but they aren't going to come in and make us a top four side straight away.

Emergencies list is odd if you ask me... Narni being an emergency smells like a late withdrawal as people have mentioned, but you would think Mullett would be the travelling emergency as the other two are more your KPP. Why would you drop a bloke (again) if he can't even play in the VFL to try and get some form back?

If anyone knows who the travelling emergency is let us know!

Scott: GWS' NEAFL team is winning by 100 points every week, so that speaks to their depth. We'll have to be on our game #NMFCMedia

Scott: If people knew what Boomer was getting paid to play at this level...it's way, way unders #NMFCMedia

Scott: The academies in the non football markets are critical to the game. All anyone is saying is that it has to be fair value #NMFCMedia

Scott: Our guys in the VFL feel like they walk taller when Kayne Turner is in the side because he's so aggressive #NMFCMedia

Scott: His (Turner) attack on the footy - and I mean it when I say this - is second to none #NMFCMedia

Scott: We wrote Kayne a note for school so he can travel today. Hopefully it's acceptable! #NMFCMedia

Scott: Wells will play in the VFL. We're hopeful it will just be the one game. You have to bring him back near his best #NMFCMedia

It just doesn't matter. Move who you want where you want. Promote the kids who've been performing or don't promote them. Bring in players underdone or hold them back.

The horse has bolted.

At best we are nothing more than making up numbers.

I will watch and try as hard as I can to not care for the rest of the year. Which is sad because I actually want to be emotionally invested in my side. However I am worn to the point of not caring. Anything Scott says grates on me. Wins are tainted with the idea we could have done better but didn't.

We might win the rest of the games, we could drop all of them. Its not exciting its annoying. We took what could have been a really exciting season and sucked all the joy out of it.

We have systemic issues around the mental toughness of our players when the going gets hot. This has not changed in 3 years despite different approaches to overcome it. We melt and every other team knows it.

We are at a point in the season where we should be bolting towards finals but we will limp in if we even get there. Other teams have been handed the key to how to beat us, shit truck sides will continue to do so. We will continue to hear shit like bitterly disappointed.

I have the f***wit Hird's words in my ears " North Melbourne used to stand for being hard at the man and hard at the ball, at the moment they stand for nothing".

It was years ago he said it, and WTF do we have to point to to say anything has changed?

North Melbourne stand for giving good blokes games of footy and going to water when it gets hot.

Just stopped by training for a bit - Narni moving nicely, didn't seem hindered from the little I saw. Make of that what you will. Lachie wasn't doing much. Wood was involved in the drills as well.

Good luck with that. Fake it till you make it OF. ;)

It won't happen.

The only way it would be for me not to watch at all.

My frustration level with the team is huge.

I understood gifting guys games under the banner of development that banner is gone now. However the team is Hotel California for some of these blokes, they can get in but they can never leave.

A premiership will be won this year.

Won by a team with a profile only marginally different to ours.

You're all talk OF. You care; you can't not. :)

That's what BigFooty is all about. Swirling emotions fired, like unguided missiles, into the cyber vortex.

On occasion I don't watch, or more accurately I will allow things to get in the way.

I don't get the "why did we pick Turner and not Dumont and Wood?".

Dumont may need to replace a Cunners/Spitta/Greenhead-type role... hard to crack a game.
I'd hope the MC isn't that unimaginative. There's no reason Froggy couldn't play Patch's role at least as well. OTOH, we saw what happened when we seemed to take it easy at the selection table against Brisbane, so going with Adams as a known quantity who has been fine as sub recently is the safe call.

Still would have loved to see Dumont get a game though.

Still disappointed not to see two exciting young players get a crack.

One is better than none (congrats Turner again) but to me it's another missed opportunity.

Was there a press conference yesterday from Brad? Nothing on the website that I can see.

Yeah, he's no good because he used to play for St Kilda.

Not going to argue this with you, you would prefer Leigh Adams to GAJ.

Got absolutely zero to do with his St Kilda heritage, my favorite all time North player captained Melbourne and only played 40 games for North. What it does have to do with is his pathetic defensive efforts over this season, for a bloke that walks into the leadership group I expect a hell of a lot more from, just watch that effort again and tell me you are happy with a leader of our club dishing that up.

Agree with that. It's not just last weekend re' soft effort, been like it from game 1 onwards.

Not a leaders bootlace, no wonder StK were happy to move him on.

For mine been a massive disappointment despite his out the back cheap stats and flashy footwork.

To me, it's about enforcing standards that are to be adhered to on-field. Promotion/demotion is a tool that can be used to do this.

Why it isn't, only those in the club know. But it's frustrating as **** to see players like Adams, Bastinac and Black put in poor performances end on end and nothing is done about it.

Do you think it might prompt some players to look for opportunities else where? I mean, it's a very 'bitter' pill to swallow knowing that you are busting your arse off, but mediocrity is being constantly being rewarded for an entire AFL season and that is what is keeping your from playing/debuting

My word there are posters wanting us to miss the 8 in the hope of getting rid of Scott.
I don't think Adams should be playing this week - or had the run he has had. But I still think the coaches have a better idea of who should be playing that anyone on big footy. We have no no idea what happens at the club during the week. Swallow, Harvey and co would all be discussing players with the coaches. It is not just Scott walking into match selection and making a decision that goes against everyone else at the club.

I have been thinking about this since I read it a few hours ago.

Asking myself am I one of those posters?

I'm not because even missing the 8 would not bring about the end of his tenure so it moot.

However I would be happy to miss the 8 this year it it made them all wake the f*** up to the fact that they cannot allow opportunity to slip through their fingers by playing shithouse football for a quarter here and a quarter there.

As of right now we are on a road to nowhere for 2014.

What will change that outcome in 2015?

My faith is being replaced with fear.

2009 - "I want to create a learning environment for the players to be the best they can be"

5 years are they the best they can be?

I have to say no.
