I like the recalls of Minson, MaCrae, Grant, Webb and Hrovat, but I can't say that I am happy with the outs.

Losing Crameri really hurts, and I don't understand the omission of Talia, who I think has been excellent so far this year.

I hope Hamling goes OK, but with so many new and recalled players I fear that our team work is likely to be our downfall this week.

Looks like we are falling back into development mode at the selection table. I hope we snap out of it soon.
Why would you believe this when players coming in are more experienced overall than those omitted?

I like the changes we get the likes of Macrae hrovat and Webb back all were playing when we were playing well also a ruck that can compete and our mids can just worry about clearances. Talia is a strange one but at least we brought a tall defender in to replace him.

I hope we do play roughie forward yes it may give gws a mismatch but it may also give us a mismatch forward as well there kpds may not have to height to match Boyd and roughie and then stringer gets a medium size which he can possible exploit.

Game will be won or lost in the middle this week need the likes of Bont Wallis Macrae picken getting first hands on the ball.

Bont really needs to lift tomorrow. Started well against eagles and tigers. His efforts since, even though injury affected, haven't been up to his normal standards.

It's your time to shine Bont.

something i've liked about Bevo's selection is that he plays the long game and the short game at the same time. He's not just playing 22 experienced men the whole time, he knows that if this side wins a flag it's got Dale, Webb and probably Mclean in it, so he's rewarding their work, but he's also cut throat and risky and wants to win every game. Can't deny that's a good thing

Really happy that Grant has received the call up. Got a taste for it early, then sent to the magoos to be reminded what life after this season might look like.

If he can't get himself up for this game, then it's curtains.

Glad to see Webb back as well. Kid can play.

Cameron, McCarthy and Stewart scares me. There, I said it.
Reckon it'll be WHE or Devon Smith that kills us... Was WHE last time and the time before that Smith and Shiel kicked 3 each I think

How is Biggs in the team he was pathetic last week...............................

Rest Jong poor guys god a busted hand...................................

Boyd needs another tall down there play redpath.................................

NEVER EVER DROP WEBB AGAIN................................................

Biggs better be sub..................................................................

Biggs was okay in his seventh (seventh!) game in a team that was very, very poor.

Webb wasn't dropped, he was rested. Was clearly cooked late in the Saints game. The kids have to be managed.

Didnt realise Biggs had only played 7 games. So thats 3 to Webb, 2 to Dale, 0 to Hamling, 7 to Biggs, 11 to Fletch, 15 to Boyd. Thats extremely inexperienced, considering I'm not even including blokes like Macrae, Stringer, Hrovat, Bonts etc who are probably in the 20-40 range, which means theyre sort of the experienced ones in the team.

Crazy stuff really, and people wonder why were inconsistent.

the only reason we were upset last week is because we've played unbelievably f***ing well this year for such a young side. In that dream zone of a rebuild where we have to start getting older. bloody awesome.

good point. I was shattered with last week but it puts it in perspective.

Why would you believe this when players coming in are more experienced overall than those omitted?

Last week we paid the penalty for playing too many new and out of form players, and we were beaten by a team near the bottom of the ladder, because we simply had too many passengers.

This week we are playing a team sitting near the top end of the ladder, so even though we will have a slightly more experienced team than last week, I fear that we still have too many inexperienced and/or out of form players in the team to be confident of victory.

I still think we have a chance to win, and I will be cheering hard for the team that takes the field, but I think we could have, and should have, picked a stronger team for this match to maximise our chances of winning.

Bontempelli, Stringer and Boyd have all been badly out of form. Biggs, Dale and Hamling are all very new and inexperienced. We also have a number of players who would not feel themselves to be fully established members of the team, e.g Webb, Roberts and Hrovat. That is a lot of question marks to carry into a match.

I expect some of these players will play well but others may remain in their slump or be held back by a lack of confidence and/or familiarity with their role in the team.

A running theme of your posts is a lot of criticism with little solutions. Who are these experienced and in form players we should be playing?

Not true (once again). I have already stated in this thread my preferred changes for tomorrow's match.

Unfortunately injury has deprived us of some options but out of players listed in the VFL. I would have preferred to play Talia, Hunter and Cordy, ahead of Dale, Biggs and one of Boyd/Roberts or Hamling.

Hunter has been severely criticised here but I thought he finally started to settle back in during the 2nd half of last week's match. Similarly with Cordy (who has also been very heavily criticised), although I don't think he should be left to ruck one out, I think both his marking and ruck work was improving, and I would like to see him perform in tandem with Minson, rather than get dropped to accommodate him.

Hunter has improved with each game he has played this year which is a good sign. Think maybe we were a tad harsh on him early.

Considering none of those players are exactly in form or experienced I have no idea where your previous post was coming from then. You've argued that we could have and should have picked a stronger team, well you have provided very little evidence of that. In fact you have even asked to drop our only decent quality tall forward or an in form back, to play an out of form back. Further Dale has put in better performances than Hunter and you've advocated mismanaging Biggs.

As for your suggestions, I'm a fan of Hunter but he has trouble playing in our zone, several times last week he was caught out position and others had to cover for him and strangely this got worse as the game wore on he really needs to work on his defensive running and hurt factor in the reserves, Cordy perhaps should be trialled in tandem with Minson but this isn't the week for it, you don't want to play Etihad top heavy and playing three rucks (assuming Roughy is relieving) would be pushing it. Talia has struggled a little in recent weeks and Hamling has been fantastic so we are actually picking that one on form.

Actually the thoughts on whether we are inconsistent or not are also far from consistent, well consistently anyway.

  1. What's level one seating viewing like ? I got seats there today. Also when you have booked reserved seats with an afl membership do you need the membership on you or can you just use the three preinted tickets ?
