His goals need to be ignored from his performance. We know that his forward skills don’t translate to more than a goal every few games at AFL level. He needed to dominate the ruck over the entire game to prove his fitness. We’ve seen how bad Seed has been in terms of being up to AFL fitness and ruck is harder due to the amount of anaerobic work that is required. Problem is that once he’s in despite how putrid he might be, he won’t be out without serious injury. Let’s hope he’s in better nick than he has been over the last 2 season.
Yep his goals are irrelevant. He isn’t coming back for his goal kicking.

Did he even ruck?

I wasn’t at the game but 5 goals looks like they sat him up forward the entire game.

He can’t be in ruck duties condition surely. Besides that ROB’s been holding his own in ruck and his around the ground game looked to be improving to me.
He rucked plenty. 27 hit outs as well

Yeah he rucked a fair slice too

HowBout his 20 possessions and 30 hit outs as well.
His possession count was good and unusual for Jacobs.

As for the hit outs, given he kicked 5, how many of these were in the forward line and how many around the ground.

What is the quality of Norths ruck? AFL standard?

Not sure why anyone is getting excited by Sauce kicking 5 goals in the SANFL...it has zero relevance to his AFL game.

Last years hit out stats in the corresponding Melb game... Gawn 49, Jacobs 21.

Oh, and why would ROB need a rest? It’s his 5th year on the list, built like the proverbial brick ****house and is one of the fittest guys on the list. He’s also easily the better type of ruck to combat Mumford.

If ROB gets a game this week, I’m sure the club will use the 5 day break to get Jacobs back in the week after. Then he will beat up on a weak Richmond ruck and get his gold pass back on our road to 8th.

Honestly I wouldn't mind him getting a break after 5 days, but we know he will struggle to get back in.

Yeah, like I said, I didn’t watch the game. So he beat up on the ****est team in the SANFL.

Out of interest, how many hit outs did the opposing SANFL ruck get? The sanfl app doesn’t give me those stats...unless they’re hidden somewhere.

He absolutely dominated the Ruck. I was at the game.

He also looked good physically free in movement. But I reckon only played about half the game. Had he played his usual minutes and Ruck time he would have had 80 plus hitouts.

It was against a poor team though and I would be massively disappointed if they bring him in and omit RoB in the back of that game.

I could stomach pkaying then together. But that us not our structure. Unless Jenkins is omitted.

I think Sauce is a good forward.

I'd be tempted to try them both for a week or 2, not sure the Giants are the right opponents

The sense of entitlement of our senior players is beyond me and highlights we’ve got issues.

We need a Blight clean out.

Douglas has said the right stuff though and said he’d be playing sanfl when he came back.
He is a true professional

No, you were certain that Sauce would be subject to dropping well before those guys were dropped. Is your strong view of the preseason softening?
Not really no, I still believe he will be subject to dropping..... but I will admit I didnt think we would see him back in this easily, particularly with ROB in reasonable nick.

That sounds less than ROB against a top 2 ruck in the league.
To be fair, Maxy did get 9 coaches votes.

ROB did a very reasonable job though, and to drop him would be incredibly harsh

I'd think pretty much all of them were in the forward line (I know what you meant but it reads differently) - LOL.

I wouldn’t be melting if they recalled Sauce. ROB has done a decent job overall, was soundly beaten by Vardy in the second half v WCE which didn’t help our cause - then of course Gawn was = BOG last game.

He’s had a good run at it and, similar to Easy, would probably benefit from a spell back in the 2’s.

I would definitely not drop ROB. The only way Sauce plays is we play both. I would love to see it despite what everyone says that you cant lay two rucks. West Coast did it last year. Port do it. Playing both will allow them to be fresh all game and run the opposition ruckman around. I know it was a different era but we won back to back premierships playing three ruckman.
