Unofficial Preview Changes vs GWS

Where you come in as the sheriff on the changes thread talking down anyone whose critical of selection.
I’m not being critical, this thread has melts like clockwork every round of the season, it just gets old.

1. Team is released to public
2. Usual posters on BF go into hysterics about one of Mackay/Atkins/Douglas/Sauce/Hartigan regardless of where we are on the ladder
3. Posters then get into the same arguments
4. Rinse and repeat following week

Not Charlie Cameron quick, but plenty enough.

There was a Lions goal last weekend, where every player was like up the ground and the ball was just bombed into the 50m, Charlie run like Forest Gump and kept running grabbed the ball and passed it off. It was great to see a player with that explosive speed, its hard to defend that.

And yet you come back for it and keep up your role.

We are allowed to discuss legitimate grievances with selection without being considered a “melt”

Godden – who is in his first year at the Crows – didn't want to weigh into the discussion.

"The trade's not really something I want to comment on," he said.

"The balance of our midfield is a significant challenge.

"Bryce hasn't done a lot wrong, but the balance of the team overrides that."

To be honest, I havent seen anyone have a melt on here in the first place.

I never want us to be that Club also that is immune to criticism or evaluation by its supporter base.

It needs to be worth noting, a Club is NOTHING without its supporters.

I just completed my member survey & don't think will be winning the free membership given my blunt thought on retaining Brett Burton after last year.

LOL. What about the lovely "supporter" who had a melt and ended by saying that he hoped we got thrashed by GWS by 200 points??

Well done and kudos to you for making a honest evaluation and not digging your head into the sand and pretending everything is perfect at West Lakes, I genuinely disapprove of these supporters.

Just remember if you didnt, we end up like you know, the basket case in Victoria, Carlton.

Where everything the Club does is right, were on track and we believe in our Savour SOS. :drunk:

Well Im not sure who that was. But 200pts seems as genuine as his melt?

Lets be honest though, the Club is not fully disclosing what is going on behind close doors at selection.

I commend it on having a tough selection policy especially earlier this year with JJ and Gibbs, but what is so rich is why only certain players are exempt from being dropped?

Every player should be vulnerable to losing their position for under performance, whether it be Tex and Sloane, down to Murphy and Mackay.

That to me would be fair. I can understand and appreciate team balance but there needs to be more open dialogue and transparency with selection policy.

At the moment we look like a basket case.

I think he is quick. His endurance is well known and I think he was Rated No 1 in the Yo Yo testing.
He is just a tackling beast. Sniffs an opportunity and goes in hard
I don’t know if we have any SANFL highlights.
His recruitment vid is true to how he plays

Look longer term who knows how good he can be but those posters demanding his inclusion have to remember how Jones struggled with the bodies and size within AFL and Ned is a lot smaller and lighter. Tackling is his strong point from all experts but tackling a U 18 or under developed SANFL player is different to tackling fully developed AFL player.

Are they going to be outside mids both of them or do they want to put their frames up against inside players like wines, danger fyfe, bonts, kennedy cey, greenwood, pendlebury, ziebel, ablett

They seem to look like they have a lot of aerobic ability so need to keep light

Unfortunately all outside mids are whipping boys their turn will come happens at every club

I'm not usually one to spend a lot of time complaining about team selection but I honestly think we've lost the plot completely. It's like the club has amnesia and forgot the way Douglas was playing before he got injured. Hartigan is also a ball butcher we should be trying to develop a replacement for.

No he's not, he's reasonably quick only but his agility and endurance are top shelf.

Interesting that 3 of the guys we drafted scored highly in the yoyo test (endurance), it would seem repeat efforts was high on our recruiting crew's agenda.

Yo-Yo test (endurance test that replaced the beep test at the 2017 AFL Draft Combine)
Ned McHenry - level 22.2
Sam Walsh - 22.1
Luke English - 22.1
Will Golds - 21.8
Xavier O'Halloran - 21.6
Oscar Brownless - 21.6
Will Hamill - 21.4
Ely Smith - 21.4
Jez McLennan - 21.4
Lachlan Sholl - 21.4
Fraser Turner - 21.4
Any thoughts on why McHenry hasn't been given a run in the firsts yet (up until this week anyway)? Apart from Jones, he's been clearly the most consistent (from the little I've seen) of the new recruits in the SANFL.

Or is purely just about team balance?

Who does he come in for and what position? It's pretty obvious the Coach, staff and players rate him so I'm sure if the right role/position opens up he'll be given a shot.

On the Trends podcasts (have a listen) they talked about how Hawthorn kept GWS under 40 points (38) and they did that by retaining possession or denying GWS possession.

Slowing the game down has to be our option.

I was probably thinking going back 2-3 weeks at least. No surprise with 43 players on the list to choose from now he's not been picked this week. Anyway, play on

Bored them to death, so to speak
