I cant think of a bigger boost for the playing group on Friday. Matts a contested ball winner so we could lighten the load on Danger with his inclusion as well. The problem is who could we sacrifice?

I think Id have to disagree here. Hawks aren't a big contested ball winning side and kill teams on the outside. We dont need to boost our inside stocks, we need to stop their run on the outside and shut down the free space, something Juniour is probably least adept at fulfilling at this stage in his career.

Id love for Cameron to come in, maybe even Grigg, but that's doubtful.

It's great and so gutting at the same time that Martin managed to play well again today. If Thompson and Rutten both come up fine to play then I think go in unchanged honestly. As much as I want to see Matt Crouch play with Brad in the AFL I just can't see anyone really being dropped from the team considering most of the 'fringe' players all kinda stood up.

I thought Brown was amazing once again, but I didn't think he had much of the pill turns out he had 18 touches, that's amazing!!! Perfect match up for Breust.

Only changes that may happen will depend on Thommo and Rutten and whether they can get up, I'd prefer Rutten play on Hale than Hartigan but it's not a bad swap if Truck doesn't play. Then junior Crouch for Thompson if that needs to happen also, but I'd rather an unchanged line up and in saying that I see a 5 goal win against the reigning premiers.

They could; but I'm prayin' they wont:)...I think Thommo is more likely to however.
Gonna be a wet night so whoever comes in better bring their balls...has Matt Crouch got any?

Will Pods be in any doubt after Saturday then ;)

100% true.
Lynch is a tall flanker.
He does his best work on the wings...
As I've said before, he makes the 3 tall structure work.

Lynch is a third tall, to say he isn't, is like saying eddie is a midfielder and not a small forward.

He plays the third tall role perfectly, the only thing the coaches have changed is the fact they have changed our structure. Instead of playing two KEY talls and a third tall in lynch, they have gotten rid of another resting midfielder, and are playing three KEY talks and a third tall in lynch. Its ruining our structure, and walker and lynch are seeing less ball delivered to them inside 50

A third tall isn't a KEY tall, they are completely different roles

IMO playing JPod helps us for next year

Tex's best prep for 2015 is to have JPod playing along side him in 2014
That is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. Pods is just delaying the inevitable, and is taking time away from our four forwards to gel. He is also taking ball away from walker and lynch inside 50, complete waste of time

Sydney seem to be doing ok this year with a lot of tall forwards!
buddy- mobile and can run
goodes- mobile, can run, can play midfield and ruck
Ried- mobile, can run
Tippett- can ruck

Jenkins- can play ruck, can run
lynch- mobile, can run like a racehorse, can play midfielder
walker- not mobile, and can hardly run
Pods- not mobile, and can hardly run

We have two players in walker and pods who are very one dimensional, its ruining our structure. If Mckernan was playing as pods is at the moment, he would be dropped. But you know....pods is sandos best buddy o pal

Calling him a Geelong discard is a bit rough. Geelong's list needed an injection of youth that forced them to move on a few older blokes they might have otherwise kept. They also forced Chapman to move on and he's a gun.
I think that Pods' form hasn't been match-winning brilliant but it has been pretty solid and he fills an important team role by playing his part fairly consistently week in, week out. He is 6th in league for contested marks. I also like the way he does some fairly basic things that the Crows have been poor at for years such as shepherding and tackling the arms rather than the hips. Hopefully this rubs off on a few other blokes.
So with all that in mind my first instinct is to defend the guy and say that he should be in the team at least until the end of this year. But I'm also thinking back to the last round of last year against the Eagles in Perth where we seemed to rotate all our resting midfielders through the forward pocket and I remember our mids kicked a heap of goals that game. So the idea of playing an extra midfielder also has plenty of merit. Perhaps it should be a horses for courses situation depending on who we are playing. If we are going to drop Pods for a mid I'd like to see Mitch Grigg get a an extended run on a forward flank. He's had a bit of the second year blues but he's worth persisting with because he's a proven goal kicker and has plenty of composure.

How is it rough? its what he is

Geelong have been the most successful team ever in the last 8 years, and they knew it was a waste of time to play him. So we pick him up, a team that has been medicare, and it stops our future forward line from playing how they will next year. It is a complete waste of time, its just inevitable before he is out of the team. We aren't playing for a flag, so it is pointless

Pods has been great because he shepherds and tackles the arms....is that you sando?

He managed 42 touches on Friday night at Richmond Oval which I cannot imagine was in pristine condition so he must have some wet weather skill I imagine.

Ruining our structure? Our structure has looked better in the past 5 weeks than I reckon I've ever seen it.

Yeh they thought the same about Chapman, but hey...hes dominating... so maybe their thoughts weren't exactly right.

So you'd play spud mckernan over pods? Even though its been proven time after time that pods is useful and McKernan is a liability.

Sure, but why drop our best contested mark? Out of 396 players who play every week in 18 teams, Pods is 8th in the entire comp for contested marks. Danger is the next Crows player at 18th in the comp. He's a handy asset no matter what the structure nor the position of the Crows on the ladder.

EDIT:…and BTW, is averaging more contested marks per week than Skirt Tippett.
Really cool story you've put together here, but its wrong

He is averaging 1.7 contested marks per game, walker is averaging 1.6, lynch 1.2, jenkins 1.1.

Pods has taken the majority of his contested marks against western bulldogs, stkilda, melbourne, carlton, north melbourne and essendon. So he takes a few contested marks against garbage opposition, congratulations pods, lets pump games into you

It is not walkers fault that he wasn't able to take contested marks against bulldogs, stkilda and melbourne, he didn't even play

Lynch has played 3 full games, 1 of them against the best team in the league, and is only 0.5 contested marks behind pods

Jenkins doesn't get the ball kicked to him enough to take more contested marks

Considering we direct the ball to pods most of the time, because he parks his ass in the goal square, he is averaging more contested marks than walker and lynch just, and those two didn't get the chance to beat up on weak teams.

He isn't a handy asset at all, we are just delaying the time when he gets dropped.
