Worried about the game. How often do Hawks play like garbage two weeks in a row? Unlike Port, they're too proud a club to do that. They have a lot of outs but they've had a lot of outs for most of the year and they're still sitting top 2.

They have invented a role/changed our structure so pods can stay in the side. The other three haven't changed their roles. Tex is the power forward, Jenkins the forward/ruck and lynch the third tall/high half forward. Lynch isn't a forward flanker, there isn't such a thing these days in the game. He is a leading third tall who can push right up to stoppages.

First thing we do is expose tex to a better defender? Tex is already getting the best defender, and he is one of the best forwards in the game. It won't kill him to lose the fossil

Pods move to the back line at the end of quarters is so overrated. We have henderson, smith, etc. to play that role. We don't need a forward to do it

We don't need hendo or otten up forward, they are not forwards. We will go with a 3 tall structure in walker, jenkins and lynch

Ill save you the time as well, walker, lynch and jenkins are never going to be dropped, so don't even think about that

Pods is not one of our most important players, not even close.

There is no longer a 'forward flanker'.

Your a Key forward, small forward, or medium forward/third tall . The rest of the forward spots are for resting midfielders. There is no place in the game for a player to be just a forward flanker. There might be the occasional flanker, but they certainly don't survive unless they move into the midfield

Feels like it's being set up exactly as the Essendon game was, the down and out team is set to be taken advantage of by the Crows. Shock and horror though as they over come the odds in a brave victory!

I don't understand why you want to change a set up that is working. I like this set up so much that I would like to see Sauce take Pod's role once Pod retires. Sauce also has the ability to play up forward take some marks and kick goals, fill a hole down back and be a link man in the middle. To facilitate this we need to procure a decent standard Ruckman to take 70% of the taps. That would be the hard part. A Ruckman like Mumford would have been ideal.

You say Pod's role has been created for him, I agree. I agree because I see this role as an important part of our team's attacking setup. It is a role we have not really seen before Sando "created" it, and it is working.

"Leading tall that can push up into stoppages" sounds like a forward flanker to me or at least the modern interpretation of forward flanker.

Nicholls and McInerney were. Donlon was the other.

Chamberlain umped the Round 6 game last year where Thommo got screwed by the horseshit push in the back call near the goal square.

It's worked against Port and GWS.

And I'd suggest a few of our guns playing out of their skin had a lot more to do with the Port win, than this structure.
