Lynch isn't a key tall target, never said he was. He is a third tall. Third tall isn't a key target, but they can still be a target. Pods on the other hand is a KEY target, the get out kick target. You do realise the third tall and a Key forward are different positions?
Yes I do, you said the ball would be directed at Pods not Lynch but how can Pods be taking ball away from Lynch if they play different positions and roles on the field. Just give up, just because you hate Pods guts that doesn't mean he should be dropped.

Posters on the hawks board seem to be dreading those (alleged) umpire appointments. Did any of them watch the 2012 prelim?! Even bloody Port fans were laughing it up about how badly Nicholls rolled us.

And then this complete momentum shifter from last year, courtesy of Razor Ray.

...god Dermie is a moron.

On top of that the 50 was also rubbish

Dermie thought Lake would be fine for attempting to choke a player. He has Brown and Gold coloured glasses.

Dermi's a tosser. Apparently the all time leader in score assists, but who is directed by his coach to go for goal whenever possible, is selfish.

It's all the hair product that's seeped into Dermie's brain.

Couldn't ask to get them at a better time. Decimated by injury and looked uncharacteristically pedestrian against NM. Very little run there. Shut down Hill.

Lake out is a bonus, though I don't think he should've got weeks considering he didn't hurt anyone. He just did angry stuff. He wanted to hurt Petrie but you could see he was clearly restraining himself. If we're going to give people multiple weeks for being angry we'll end up with a very sanitised product very quickly. If Tex got 4 weeks for wrestling aggressively without inflicting any actual harm I'd be pissed. Too much this going on:

Anyway, again, shut down Hill.

There's wrestling, and then there's wrapping your hands around an opponent's throat on live TV

You just can't do that. Even if he was controlled, it's not a good look. I reckon 2 weeks would've been ok, but would've been happy with 1 ;)

We are the number one contested marking team in the comp and people are calling for Pods to be dropped....sigh

We are a very, very good chance to miss the finals again, he is 32 years old - we need to look at an alternative strategy for our forward line.

Even the umpiring director admitted after that final that there were something like 15 incorrect calls against the Crows. And it wasn't just the incorrect calls, it was the non-calls as well. I have never seen such a blatantly unfair display of umpiring before or since. We were r*ped. I don't often whinge about umpiring, but there was a real case for a replay after that farce.
You had to be there to see just what a rotten, stinking pile of poop that umpiring performance was. None of those umpires should have been given new contracts. None of the three should ever have umpired another AFL match.
It is instructive that the three were dropped from consideration to umpire the grand final the following week.

The umpiring in that game was absolutely ridiculous...those umpires deliberately umpired against us....it seemed to change after half time and all I want to know is who talked to them....was it is or was the AFL so embarrassed by it that they spoke to the umps at a half time??

I know it's not the way Sando likes to role, but we MUST keep the pace on this game and turn it into a shootout.

The Hawks have a decimated backline, so our forwards should be too much of a handful if given plenty of quality delivery. They don't have the talls to cover Tex, JJ and Pods so we need to take advantage of this. I think our backs should be able to break even with their forwards.

With Kerridge out we don't have a shut down mid and with Sewell out I think we can afford to go head to head in the midfield assuming Thommo and Danger are good to go. However I would consider putting Laird on Mitchell when he's in the midfield (not centre bounces though) as he would not be giving up too much height.

We should get plenty of run and carry from Hendo, Smith, Jaensch, DMac and Martin. So I think it's crucial these guys keep the pace on the game to ensure our forwards get plenty of supply. North seemed to do this well. If Hill doesn't play, that's a big bonus for us in this area.

We need to capitalise on our strengths, and in this game our tall forwards is it. It's been a long time since we have considered our outside run as being a strength, but I think in this game it is. If I was Sando I would be pumping up our 5 run and carry players and our 3 key forwards for a massive game.

not sure I'd include Crouchy either, we gave up a fair bit to get first dibs on him if I recall correctly.

and I know he's calling it quits at the end of the year but you missed Rookie sensation Truck Rutten as well ;)

We gave up pick 10 and a 2nd or 3rd round pick if I remember rightly. However Crouch was definitely a top 5 pick maybe even top 2 or 3. We also got Luke Brown as part of that deal and he was touted as a top 20 pick. We did VERY well out of that especially considering the draft sanctions that were to come.

Until last week we'd lost more games than we'd won.

Doesn't that suggest that stat is pretty meaningless?
No one stat like that (so not kicking more goals then the other team etc) is the difference to winning/losing games. What it does say is that isn't the area of weakness that has been costing us to lose the amount of games we have so far this season.

That may well be the case, but not really relevant. Taylor Walker was signed as a NSW Scholarship Player a couple of years before his draft year. As such, Adelaide were able to use their last selection in the draft to place him formally on the list. He wasn't a "steal", in that none of the other clubs overlooked him - they never had the chance to draft him.

IIRC that's not entirely true - we noticed him because he sent us a tape of his performances; I believe he also sent that tape to Collingwood in an effort to get drafted. We were just smarter / quicker (and lucky as hell he barracked for us as a kid)

We gave up our 1st round selection plus our compensation pick for losing Davi$ to GWS. We got Brown & Crouch in return.

That may be the case.. but the reason he went at #75 in the draft is because he was a NSW Scholarship holder. Nobody rated him the 75th best player in the draft.

Things recently listed as "unimportant" around these parts by some...

1 - Hitouts
2 - Contested Marks
3 - Centre Clearances
4 - Clearances
5 - Disposal Efficiency

Makes you wonder how ANY team wins a match nowadays.

It is looking more likely that things will be wet and greasy on Friday night. Hawthorn are a good wet weather side (check their results in Tassie) and we will have to do everything right to get over the line. Team selection will be very important and I wouldn't be surprised to see a late change.

My wish list includes;
- Absolutely no injured players
- Don't bring back Radar
- If it's really wet, bring in Matty Crouch instead of either Truck or JPod (preferably Truck).

From what I can see on the AFL and AFL Umpire Association website, the umpires have yet to be announced. Where do you get your information from out of interest?

Pathetic.. How the hell can Dermie even try to defend that crud?
Dermie is an idiot - if that had happened to him in his day, he would have gone mental at the umpire!
