Sometimes I think people should wait until the day after the game before posting, there have been some ridiculous posts in the past 24 hours.

Well it is kind of obvious that King and Miller had poor games, though mainly it was in the first half.

Calls to drop Miller are a huge over reaction. He has been in our best this season. Hanging a guy out to dry on the basis of one poor game is pretty stupid. If Maric has a shocker next week will we drop him?

While Miller simply had a bad game, King looked underdone. I would not be surprised if he gets a run in the 2s to get back some form.

Surprised that no-one has mentioned my favourite player, Jackson. Again he was a liability when he got the ball. I wonder how long we can afford to carry a player that really adds nothing to our team. I think we've already killed off the argument that he is an 'onfield general'. He is a mid-paced, slow-thinking, low-skilled player whose sole redeeming feature seems to be that he is a 'mature body'. He can't even play as a tagger, and that is the role of last resort for a midfielder. Honestly, we cant afford to keep playing this guy much longer.

And the last thing I want to say is what is with this fixation on Post? For crying out loud guys, he is just another Gourdis. I've been seeing this kind of fixation on talls playing in the ressies since Matty Francis was playing (google him if you must). Post is not going to magically get better if we give him 4 games in the 1's. Do that and our percentage is going to get smashed, let alone our win/loss ratio. The only way he should get a game is if we completely run out of talls. If we must experiment, the time is when we are out of contention, not now. Post had his chances in the preseason and Rd 1. There is no conspiracy to keep him out of the team, he's just not any good.

In every game Maric has played this season he has given nothing , including zero defensive pressure .
Connors has consistently let his teammates down by poor application . Whilst comments like ' Newman only had x amount of possessions which is not good enough for a captain ' within a changes thread is ridiculous .
I don't think miller has been great all season , whilst we can probably get on top of Hawthorn in the midfield and get Maric to drop back into defence by playing Vickery.

Out : Grimes , Miller
In : Vickery , Thurstfield ( oops not or our list anymore;) ) / Post

out: Grimes, Miller, Dea
In: Vickery, Post, Griffiths.

We'll need another tall to cover all the work Grimes has been doing. Plus Hawthorn have Buddy, Roughhead and Hale, all of which are genuine tall forwards. While their defense are all short triers. If Jack is going to get going it will be against Shoenmakers and Gibson.

Miller has been quite poor all season IMO. The opposition are yet to play a KPP on him showing how little they are rating him.

IN: Vickery - Post
OUT: Miller - Grimes

:thumbsu:Agree. We didn't miss his big body and poor skills the other week when we won without him!

Re: Changes Vs The (d)hawks)

Out: Grimes, King

In: Vickery, Griffiths.

Play Edwards in the forward line, Griff in the defence. Let's give him a few weeks there.
This. Except that Edwards should continue to be rotated through the midfield. We have other midfield goal kickers that can crumb a ball while resting forward.

Connors and Edwards as forward pockets may be a better solution than King and Nahas.
this. but i still have doubts on connors' attitude.
he's been playing well in the 2's would ideally like him to do it for another 1-2 weeks.

nahas stays atm. at least in future edwards and connors would make great rotation into the midfield. damn i want chris knights from the crows.

OUT:
Miller ( was totally crap & Cant be played just because he is a big body - Taking games & experience away from Post,Griffiths,Derickx,Elton.

Grimes - Injured

King - Non existant in the game and from a older player , he needs to set by example - Put a rocket up him Dimma

Nahas - I have never really been on his back but he is in the team to kick goals and be the elusive small foward- WTF tring to pass 35m out from goal.

I know people wont like it, but I can honestly see McGuane being brought in for this game, now before people start cracking the sads and having pot shots at the club etc, McGuane to my knowledge has never ever really been taken apart by Franklin, for some reason unknown to man McGuane seems to be able to do a decent job on Franklin.

Ok, this is what I would do.

Ins:

Vickery - rotating ruck and fwd with Maric - I want to see maric given more time resting deep.
Griff - Replaces Grimes. I want to see Posty played forward, so for me Griff gets a chance at CHB. Nothing to lose really as both he and Posty probably arent ready to hold down CHB so might aswell try something different.

Outs:

Grimes - injured
Kingy - Needs to go back and remember what made him a solid defensive fwd last.

DO you guys honestly think we were that bad against essendon that we have so many changes after 2 wins before that?

I dont think brining underdone coburg players (who got smashed) is the answer. Apparantly Post is too much of a liability down back and slow.

Miller didnt have a good game, but all year has been relatively a good target.

If we had someone to bring that was knocking the door down then sure...

For Hawthorn, we have rance against roughhead and need a speed/spoiling backman for franklin.

OUT: Grimes
IN: Best performing coburg

McGuane was listed as 1 week on the injury list. However he was playing as a forward so he will not be coming in for Grimes.

Griffiths is the one I want in along with TV. Griff needs to be used coming out of defence as well with his beautiful skills.

Sounds like the sort of thing being said about Vickery before last season. He hasn't had enough of a crack at it yet to write him off. I would rather him on the list before McGuane by so far it isn't funny. He's a tall... he will take time to develop but that time needs to be at times in the seniors with a decent crack at it.... Ultimately we need he/Griff/Astbury to replace Miller/be a swingman in the team. Not this week necessarily but certainly in the next season or two.... Time and patience/perseverance with the talls.

Changes this week...

Out - Grimes, Nahas/King
In - Vickery, Post/Griff

Love to see Arnott come in for a crack soon. Maybe Jacko could belt someone and ko them for the game and then have 3 weeks off...

After much thought I think we should go in like this:

Out: Grimes, Miller, King
In: Griffiths(Replaces Grimes), Vickery (Replaces Miller), A.Maric (Replaces King)

Jackson sub.

or

Out: Grimes, Miller, King, Jackson
In: Griffiths(Replaces Grimes), Vickery (Replaces Miller), A.Maric (Replaces King), Post (to play as a forward)

Sub: Dea (subbed on for Ellis)

if Mcguane was fit, i probably would bring him in as well as griff up forward. lukey can defend well, if he could limit the time he has the ball in his hands with plenty of handball, he may be best option in warming grimes seat

OUT: Grimes and King

IN: Griffiths and Vickery.

B: Morris Rance Newman
HB: Houli Miller Batchelor
C: Deledio Cotchin Grigg
HF: Nahas Vickery Martin
F: Edwards Griffiths Riewoldt
R: Maric Tuck Foley

INT: Conca, Dea, Ellis, Jackson

Miller to Roughead, Rance to Franklin with help from the defence. In all honesty the game will be won or lost in the midfield and we need to capitalise and having three marking forwards ourselves will stretch a short Hawthorn backline if we get on top. If we are to beat the Hawks it wont be because we stopped Franklin and Roughead so much, it will be because like against Essendon we beat them in the middle but unlike Essendon, had forwards who could mark and kick straight. Edwards replaces King, who did an outstanding job in that role I must say, will like to see more of it from Edwards. Tuck to Mitchell, Jackson to Birchall and Morris to Rioli. The rest go at them.

I don't see us winning, but would love to be proved wrong.
