Saturday forecast is for 20-40mm rain in Melb, what's the feeling of how this helps/hinders your chances v haw?

I can recall several good wins by Richmond in last 2-3 years in very wet conditions (& a really bad loss to haw in these conditions) but also Haw have lost a few in the wet during this time too.

it might be closer than a few people think.

I'd be more confident if it were dry.. Hawks pumped us in the rain last year.

Up against Hale, Roughead and Franklin.

You'd think Rance would go to Franklin, leaving match ups for the other 2. Need a big player for Hale, could be Post or Griffiths, and then who takes Roughead? I wouldn't want Batch on him...

This one could get ugly.

I have never understood this mentality tbh.

I have always found the fast guys just seem faster in the wet. I know I am in the minority.
You might be right. I just feel it levels the playing field out though because the ball isn't pinging around the feild out in space. It's congested and played in tight with a big mob following the ball around the feild like under 10's.
Bash and Crash footy is bombproof in the wet and bigger bodies suit.

Gonna need help down back in the tall man stakes, but has to be said, the Hawks aren't exactly flush with tall defenders. Three talls will stretch them!

I still think we will b better off using dea as our 3rd tall back .

The way the game is being played at the moment big key forwards r somewhat redundant.

We should b looking at going shorter thats where we got a tad more quality.

Conners in for grimes may b the only change .

I hadnt thought of this angle, but I like where your heads at.

Basically we bring in a tall thats not upto it, he gets beaten and offers nothing as he simply isnt up to it.

or

Play a good smaller player who yes will probably get beaten but will atleast offer some strong run and carry, maybe presence at ground level or whatever the case may be.

Interesting.

It's why we've only been playing with 2 tall defenders. Batchelor plays better and his ability overcomes the lack of height. Dea with games will be the same only he also has the body strength to compete with bigger bodied forwards. He just needs time to adjust.

Interesting selection week ahead.

On Edwards, I have never been a fan and don't see him as a great player. However his three goals were very good and he obviously should be played next week. Those saying he is > Nahas are surely taking the piss, Robbie has outplayed him in every single game this year bar the most recent one...and I'm not confident Titch will back up. On form these two should be our smalls this week with King coming out. No time on the ball for Edwards.

To combat Roughead/Franklin/Hale we should bring in Griffiths or Post, whichever we have more confidence in...probably the former. Could see a breakout game, fingers crossed.

Replacing Miller with Post is an option but that would mean three changes and our side has been very good and stable this year. Wait and see if Brad can produce better this week and if Post can continue his Coburg form.

OUT: Grimes, King.
IN: Vickery, Griffiths/Post

I would only choose players performing in coburg - we are not experimenting.

Miller had one bad game. We need to continue stability against the hawks.

As others have said, Id rather a smaller person with better skills than bring in an underdone tall (Post, griffens) they lose their battle and be completely exposed in the back half for speed and run.

With only two forwards in double figures for goals they can't afford to drop Miller, as poor as he was during crucial moments last week.

If only Connors or Elton weren't so underdone. They need another attacking option and bad.

Wouldnt say Connors is underdone. He's come of 4,4 so he'd be some chance as would Post and Griffiths.
O'Hanlon later if he keeps playing well.

B: Morris Rance Newman
HB: Houli Griffiths Batchelor
C: Grigg Cotchin Jackson
HF: Deledio Miller Martin
F: Riewoldt Vickery Edwards
FOL: Maric Tuck Foley
INT: Dea Ellis Conca
SUB: Nahas

In: Vickery, Griffiths
Out: Grimes (injured), King (omitted)

- I know King is much loved by Dimma, but him being forced out of the side is a result of us starting to gather depth (as well as some poor form on his part)
- Vickery to play at full forward, being the main target in the forward line. Jack to draw the opponents and the players instructed to kick it to Vickers.
- I know people have called for Miller's head, but the fact is that he is always needed to fill a role and to make space for the other forwards.
- Nahas as the sub is only because Edwards played so well last week and the fact that Ellis has done it two weeks in a row and needs a full game.

Was at the club tonight

I suspect Vickery might be a week away, but that was just my inkling. Ellis not to get the vest, but he had really needed the rest.

Griff hopeful. Wished him well if he gets the gig

I reckon DC is close
