Changes vs Hawthorn

O'Shea and Stewart played last night and Stewart got KO'd in the first quarter. It won't be pretty if they play.
Thanks for the update, wasn't aware of that - Stewart def won't be playing tonight then! So if Neade comes in late and we have a further spot to fill, were any other maggies withheld last night who would step in? Obviously I hope my info is wrong, but it's from a source within the club.

If we had two that were that much in doubt, we would not have played Stewy or O'Shea last night. They didn't just get injured overnight, we knew all week. At the very minimum one will definitely play, however it will more than likely be both. If one was that unlikely to play we would have still held two from the magpies, otherwise we would have no cover if someone went down in the warmup.

Stop starting shit rumours just to get a rise out of everyone mate.
Just telling you the info I have. Not trying to get a rise and hope my source is wrong. Good day to you, sir!

Does not change the fact we are missing 3 Premiership players plus Frawly, also if the rumour of who is the likely Hawk late out then indeed we are nowhere near full strength.

Plus umpire Stevic

If two Port players were in doubt for tonight's game, at least two of the emergencies would not have played last night.
If by some chance two do pull out, it would be the team management **** up of the millenium, surely the team is too well managed for that to happen.

This could become a "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch if we continue to debate who has the worse outs.

This is the pre-Monty Python original.

Very professional by Port in announcing the withdrawal of Robbie Gray yesterday. Most clubs, including mine, would most likely have played the childish game of leaving it until 40 minutes before the game. We all know that AFL clubs have great intel and Hawthorn would almost certainly have known he was going to be out but for the football watching public it is a breath of fresh air to be treated with a bit of respect. Class act your club. A real no bullshit organisation.

If both White and Polec are out, it's likely O'Shea will come in and be sub. Fingers crossed we don't get an early injury.

Something similar happened last year with Tony Armstrong.

I would hope not. Apart from the fact that O'Shea has been involved in a great many clangers that have given goals to the opposition, a defender as the sub never seems to work. I would much sooner Sammy Gray. He is not AFL standard for a full game but could cut it as a 30-minute sub.

It really depends on what we're allowed to do given our emergencies are Neade, O'Shea and Stewart.

Neade is first in as he was rested from last night's Magpies game, Stewart is concussed (Linda will be pissed, lol) which just leaves O'Shea.

We can't pick Gray, he's still on the rookie list.

O'Shea played last night for the Maggies so he's a no go. It's only Neade who can come in so only one of Polec or White are in doubt.

There's precedence of emergencies playing two games over a weekend - in this case it's more the fact both emergencies copped heavy hits including Stewart being knocked out.

From memory the Tony Armstrong case was a real emergency that sprung up the morning of the game out of nowhere.
In our case, if we really did have two players under a cloud all week up to and including yesterday, there's absolutely no way known we wouldn't have held a couple back from the SANFL last night. No way. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of deliberate Chinese whispers and foxing going on.
Obviously I'm as in the dark as anyone, but at this point I'd be very surprised if we don't go in as named.

So much "poor us" in this thread it reads much like Hawthorns BoxHill thread against us last year. Injuries happen, everyone here is telling me we have depth. So let's see it. So pumped to see Ah Chee and Young in the centre square. I wasn't confident prior to the start of the week but it's a must win and we must give a bold showing.

Remember Mark Harwood in 1999 played against Sydney after playing a full game the day before for Glenelg. Kicked two goals, probably his best ever game for the Power. Same deal, a player pulled out just before the game and they plucked him out of the stands.

I think its clear both POlec and White are under clouds. I think one will get up and worse case be the sub. That being the case, i think Polec will be withdrawn (if one of the two is going to miss). White then the sub.

Paul Stewart did come out of the change rooms pretty quickly last night and didn't seem to be too troubled by the knock he received. Maybe the trainers on the ground told him to "stay down!!!".

I thought last year or the year before an afl player was benched at half time of a Magpies game because we may have needed him for the afl match that night or next day, so played half a game.

Stewie did the whole tense up thing, but he was moving about even before they got him on the stretcher, and he was walking the boundary early in the 2nd.

Fingers crossed

He didn't look fazed at all. No wobbles, no assistance required. I'm still hopeful we'll go in as named.

Wouldn't mind Stewy to HB and Broadbent into the guts if Wines and Gray are both still out next week. Stewart is in very strong form, deserves a shot in the near future.
