Changes vs Hawthorn

As I said earlier in the week, Stewy is going to come in at some point and play some awesome footy and make himself undroppable.

He'll play in our next grand final, I can sense it.

Why does Stewart hardly get played in the midfield at afl? Why does he and Moore not cement regular games? I think of Sydney's Kennedy having been discarded by the Hawks and being a regular afl player on a top side and compare him to our two mids in question? Am I comparing two vastly inferior players to Kennedy but don't see it this way?

Only person that can drop him is Logan with a Knee in his chest - man, I was worried he had cracked a few ribs, but it seems he was just severely winded... Stewy is a tough cookie!

Wouldn't mind Stewy to HB and Broadbent into the guts if Wines and Gray are both still out next week. Stewart is in very strong form, deserves a shot in the near future.

Polec's loss would really hurt us. We'll need run and grunt against the Hawks, and if he's out too, then it becomes a ridiculously heavy load on Boak, Hartlett and Ebert. If we do lose Polec in particular, I'd feel comfortable with Stewart being the replacement, with a view to releasing Broadbent to the midfield and using the Krak/Pittard double act as our rebound defenders.

Irrespective, we're clearly not at full strength, and Wines and Gray are two of our three most important midfielders. However, this is the sort of match where we might see a decent lift from some other players and put on a good show as a whole team - bit like the win against Sydney in the wet two years ago when Boak didn't play.

I'm looking forward to seeing Young and AhChee get an opportunity around the midfield, as much as I am to watching the Lobbe-Ryder ruck rotations.

While the loss of White would not be ideal, I have confidence that Neadey will lift to meet the challenge if given the late call-up to cover him. Treating it as a nothing to lose opportunity after the demotion last week will be good for him. His work rate has been ok in all the matches he's played this year, but not his composure or finishing which are the two things he did so well at late in 2014.

I'm going to nominate a big match from Wingard tonight. Something tells me that he will be used predominantly in the midfield and that he will rise to the occasion. I think he'll be better suited to having freedom around the ground and resting forward, rather than having Stratton match up on him tightly in the forward pocket.

I just hope the whole occasion doesn't become the anticlimax of two weeks ago. If we lose, then do so swinging hard. Lots of exciting, desperate and tough play please.

It's been sunny and clear these past few hours in the south-east of the city.

I'm near the entertainment centre and the sun has just now broken through here.

Oh, gone again.

I have become very unaccustomed to this kind of weather let me tell you! 28 in Bris today. Hope the boys performance tonight warms my soul.

Pardon the intrusion, but Port is a team that responds very well when their backs are against the wall. There's a serious amount of respect I have towards this outfit. Hoping it's a crackin match with no injuries.

Polecs fine. He's right in front of me geared up ready to go, boots on and all. Having a chat to Josh carr.

I wouldn't say he is "fine", he's definitely playing injured.

Well that's a bit lame isn't it.

White was fully dressed as if he wasn't playing. Polec and monfries boots and footy shorts.

Looks like everyone's favorite hospital ball kicker Neadey might be in.

To be fair, these sorts of conditions are probably ideal for Neade. Potentially losing white is very poor though.

im not sold on ah chee being a sub. its not really the time to be blooding a youngster, especially when the game is on the line. woul have been more suited to stewart
