Ahh 2008 what a year :thumbsu:

As I said I do not know any Hawk supporter on the planet that even remotely thinks we are unbeatable.

We are just like every other team, just doing our best.

Maybe you can be Geelong circa 2008 and we will be Hawthorn ;)

"Lobbe moved pretty freely this morning at training, expect him to be a certain starter"

Gray out eh?
What a fantastic test for Young and Polec

Think Hawthorn will eventually run over the top of us due to having a better interchange bench, but it could be one hell if a match if we prevailed.

No one knows, that is the best thing about our game.

As I said the Hawks are just like every other team, a bunch of battlers trying to make good.

Yeah you're entitled to your opinion , but trying to paint hawthorn as 'battlers' is a fair way off the mark.

Your club has twice been given top 3 priority picks. Has had probably twice as many prime time slots as port have had over the last ten seasons , and had a player running around for you who due to his star status had rules bent in his favour ie the buddy natural arc rule.

I can't blame you though for not knowing ports history. How when the sanfl refused the afls offers to join a team into the afl port stepped forward and was a signature away when the sanfl reneged and made a team to join th afl just so they could keep us out. Your probably not aware that when port joined the afl we were tied to the original agreements the bent sanfl made with the afl and with the stadium. How we lost money on games even when we were posting higher attendances then half the vic teams. How port and the crows had to pay the sanfl our earnings and thn make requests if we wanted to do something like update our training facilities. Then we copped crap in the media for asking for handouts , ignorant of the fact we were only asking for a fraction of the $6mil a year we pumped into the sanfls coffers each year.

A well drilled team hawthorn , but battlers you are not.

I always find it curious that people dismiss the importance of ruckmen in the wet. When its wet there are usually more ball ups and throw ins - so having our biggest bodied ruckman back is huge. Wet weather footy usually has bit more of a "metres gained" flavour to it as well - so the extra marking targets down the line usually come in handy.

To me, Lobbe is a massive inclusion.

Especially one who leads the tackling

When i heard robbie was out i thought we struggle to win but the more i thought about it a said to myself WHY NOT why cant we win this and it made me more confident than ever so this will be a ripping game and im seriously looking forward to it

Lobbe/ryder, boak, ebert, hartlett, young, polec, cornes, broadbent, Wingard is still a deep strong midfield. Monfries and ah chee will also go through there.

Hawthorn are magnificent, but i do believe that in the ruck we can turn things in our favour. Lobbe/Ryder are much better then ceglar/mcevoy. A lot of things will need to go right, but it can be done

Remember that time we won a flag, missing out best ruck and 2 best mids from the year before?

We can do it, but I'm still a little concerned we value the individual because the system is catered to the individuals. The best teams put the system first.

Different. We were more experienced.

as has been all year, our half backs will continue to give our forwards plenty of opportunity. I liked what I saw last weekend with our forwards working hard, using their speed to generate opportunities however we need to capitalise more - we were almost in the same position as last years preliminary final, we need to capitalise on our opportunities. Pittard, Hammer, Broady and Polec will provide plenty of opportunity to our forwards.

If we can break even in the midfield, that will be a win for us. I am looking forward to a big game from Hoff, he is clearly down on confidence for me and needs to use his god given talents (his height, agility and running capacity) to the teams advantage.

I like Kens philosophy on players and fully back his decision to include Ah Chee. He has obviously done the yards and deserves first crack on the weekend, I look forward to seeing what he can do if given more time on the ground than last week. Neade wouldn't be a bad inclusion given the slippery conditions however he still gets caught man on man and against Hawthorn, he'll get pushed around too much.
