I'm not 100% sure, but I think the only problem is that the winnings would be taxable income, because at a certain point making profits from Port Adelaide losing becomes a feat of skill based on reliable indicators, rather than a genuine game of chance and thus a windfall financial distribution exempt from taxation.

On a semi-serious note clubs have come close to not having the number of players available to choose from, what exactly does happen if a club has so many players injured that they can't field a 22, even with rookie promotions? It'd be farcical to play a game with 20 v 22 or the like. I think this week is the week for us to have so many 'injuries' on the track that we can't field a team and see if we can get the match forfeited. Freshen up the players so we lose by less then 100 points against West Coast in two weeks at home.

I would be desperately disappointed if at least one player did not play his last game for PAFC on Saturday.

I was interested to read a piece yesterday saying that Pfieffer wont play again this year, because being a rookie every extra game he plays the club must give him match payments and they are trying to cut down on costs. This is also likely to be the reason he is always the first one dropped.

I'd be very surprised if there was any truth to that considering a rookie player's match payments would be so low.
