Homeground
Bottom of the ladder team
Key player missing

Not confident for some reason.

Brisbane have been great over the past month or so. They're rebuilding quite nicely and have some great youngsters coming through.

No Zorko is massive for them though.

I'm torn. It's obviously better for us with Zorko out, but my Supercoach team suffers immensely.

Nah **** it, and **** WCE. I hope Zorko challenges and gets off. His strike on Plowman was absolutely minimal anyway, doesn't deserve a ban.

Cole was awful. I'm all for playing youth but you can't reward that. We were too young down back and turned it over so often coming out of there.

Priddis looked even slower than usual. We can't carry him anymore.

Once according to the stats.

People are honestly blaming our younger players playing in our defensive half? because our midfield are physically incapable of moving in any way to create an actual target to kick at.

i'll take partos no two way running over priddis' no running any day

Id take his ability to find the pill over his defensive weaknesses as well at the moment.

I'm not saying Cole turned it over, I'm saying we turned it over as a team coming out of the backline. Cole's issue was more being fumbly and getting his hands on the ball. I clarified in a later post that I don't think we can play Cole, Duggan and Nelson in the same backline and I'd like at least one of them moved to the midfield (Nelson probably).

Thought Cole had a shocker though.

“Supporters especially will say, play the kids, play the kids, play the kids. Well, there are a lot of kids playing. You can't go too far the other way.”

They're playing in the wrong spots. Its like the safety crew on the titanic saying "we reinforced the rear of the boat in case we ever go backwards into icebergs".. :P

We're in absolutely no danger of going too far the other way.

"You can not play all your kids in the same part of the ground and moving more experienced in better form players like Yeo into the midfield hoping that that somehow makes a difference. You can try to fix the area of the ground by playing people made for that area of the ground instead of sticky tape and band aids"

Guys you are putting so much pressure on Partington ....this kid doesnt need the this extra burden , the AFL will level him out real quick in any case ...doesnt need all this expectation .

I don't think anyone expects him to come in and straight away dominate, but with his form in the WAFL deserves a spot. Its the next step in his development.

No, u r wrong. Many posters who watch wafl have said he lacks impact and has things to work on. Many of his high possession games have been reported as minimal impact.

Others want him in instead of lecras (as though they play same position) and others want him instead of priddis and given priddis stature, that's essentially expectation that he will come in, get 20 possessions, not have players "walz past him" and be contested ball winner. Some others think he is a goal kicking midfielder that we need, when it's clear that's not our need.

Partington is now a symbol for everything wrong with club.

Sorry that's piling on pressure and we will turn on him. He is set up.

Don't know if it's as much expectation as it is exasperation that he hasn't had a chance.

We want Partington to get maybe 3 games of AFL this year, so we can see where his development is at. What his current deficiencies are, and so he knows and the WCE training staff know what he needs to work on in the next preseason. I fully expect him to come in and get somewhere between 5 and 10 disposals in his first game. Any more than that is a bonus. He is not a like for like replacement for Priddis, but he's what we've got to look forward to being that replacement when Priddis is no more. If Partington is not ready yet, we need to know so that we can trade for a player that can fill that gap while Parto gets a few more preseasons under him. Atm we can only speculate whether Parto can or can't be that replacement. If he plays some AFL this year we will know if that's going to be 1 year, 3 years or never. If he doesn't play AFL this year, we won't find out till next year, or the year after, when we can't trade to fix this problem that'll only be worse next year. This position is Priddis, Mitchell, Redden, and Parto. Nobody else can fill that gap. If Priddis fades more next year, and Mitchell retires, then we've got Redden and Parto.

I think he is a player that can succeed at AFL level but the AFL is a big leveller.

Ditto this. I don't think anyone expects him to be the second coming of Chris Judd. Just want to see him on the park.

we rather see someone new come in and prove them selves, rather than see the same trash recycled every week.
I used to think Parto would become an inside mid but i suspect he will end up as a very handy outside player that wins more of his own ball than both a masten or Gaff would.

Told ya

You said he was an inside bull at SANFL level tho :)

Nah I reckon he'll be a handy accumulator, as long as we keep drilling into him the importance of winning contests and tackling well, or he'll end up as Masten mk2
