Hehe.two way running?? You make it sound like our midfield brigade are all two way runners.you will have a very difficult time convincing me that our starting mids are two way runners. If they were, then your argument for parto working on his two way game to get a game is valid.Im pretty sure at this stage his one way game is better than most of the starting ng mids.

It's not my argument. I want him in the team this week. I wanted him in the team a month ago.

But if he's been told to work on elements of his game then that's my guess as to what those elements are.

Gaff is cooked (can't run out games anymore)
Shuey is cooked (struggling to run out games)
Priddis is 100% cooked
Sheed doesn't have a huge tank.
Lecras cooked
Cripps possibly cooked?

thats 4 mids struggling to run out games. Surely one of them can be rested or in priddis's case dropped and never to be seen again.
????? He was tagged last week. Other mids have more responsibility. Surely Gaff's endurance isn't being questioned?

He has elite endurance but a terrible football brain at least defensively. He lets his man get away from him more often than not.

NOt just last week. Gaff been labouring all season. He seems to pull out a good game here and there but he does look cooked.

Is there anyone who has seen Partington play more than a game here or there that thinks he gets a game more due to the state of the club at the moment and not due to his impact or consistency at WAFL level? Most I know think he gets a game because he's next in line and not because he has busted the door down to Simpsons office?

Keys, you've seen him more than anyone, interested in your thoughts

That's part and parcel of being a winger though. You can't expect him to be getting a shit load of uncontested ball by getting away from his man, then complain too loudly when he gets burnt going the other way on occasion.

Phillips said there were striking similarities between Fremantle’s reigning Doig medallist Lachie Neale and Partington.

“I thought he was very similar to Lachie Neale when Lachie came through our program a few years earlier,” Phillips said.

“That’s what stood out with Lachie also, his appetite for a contest and his appetite to work hard for the entirety of a game.

“Luke’s no different.”

..but more importantly..

Former Norwood premiership coach Ben Warren said Partington was capable of playing as a half-forward, not just an inside midfielder.

Godspeed, son.

I'm not comfortable with the media now weighing in so heavily on the play Partington debate. It's one thing for us nobodies to carry on about it but when every second article about us mentions him, his junior coaches are being contacted for comment and the question is repeatedly put to Simmo I get an unsettling feeling that the young bloke will be damned either way.

clubs fault for not rewarding form which demanded selection in the first place.

who you calling nobodies?:p

I really can't shake the feeling that Simpson just doesn't think Partington is that good. I understand the argument for favouring the youth over underperforming experienced players (and I have made that argument on this forum) but I suspect a) the lack of defensive game and b) his average footskills are the reason Simpson isn't that enthused by blooding him. I do like Parto but part of me thinks he will become a bit of a whipping boy in the future because of his drawbacks when people actually see more of his game, which is that of a low-impact accumulator.

On the other hand however, it has to be noted that Partington is kicking more goals at the moment than our forwards at East Perth so a HFF is another avenue for Partington into the side over an underperforming LeCras (although Karpany should be first in line there anyway). My guess is that Simpson has given Partington some targets to work toward and feel it would be better for his development not to rush him into the side before he has achieved them.
