Time for SPP to come back into the lineup. He's in our best side and the conditions are going to suit. I expect him to get a combo of forward and midfield minutes so Woodcock out for mine.

I also think Rockliff should come back for this game but I'm not quite sure who he would come in for. A like for like replacement is Drew, and I wouldn't be sad if he was dropped for this game. He's been ok without being spectacular in his role, and has had considerable underwhelming periods of play over quite a few games this season. If we weren't winning as many games I would think he would have been sent down to the Magpies already.

In saying that I still would have Drew as the sub for this game. Big body, can run well enough and ensures we won't be a big body down in the midfield if there is an early injury.

I’m obviously missing something. Since he’s been in the side I’ve been noticing Woodcock more than Drew in being an influence. Particularly how we’re playing this year.

Tackles. You're missing tackles. :)

Drew is the man around stoppages.

His position in the field of play seems to be left right out but close enough to get to the stoppage when it occurs. Or you could say space filler. How do I know this? I watched his whole last quarter praying he'd get 6 disposals for my multi :)

Peps is a certainty this week, his first game back he was rusty as s**t he missed maybe 7 of the easiest kicks you have ever seen. Clearly the rust was lifted and his game against Glenelg was sublime he gave his all, skills were AFL level again and he was willing us over the line only to fall agonisingly short.

Woodcock has been as good a Butters replacement as you could hope to pull out of the sanfl but seeing as Buttsy was playing mid forward the same role that SPP was playing last year it's really a straight swap.

I don't mind the idea of Bonner as medical sub. Better hard runner than Woodcock or Mayes.

Actually this is a good idea. Either ease him in for a couple of quarters at AFL level, or if he doesn’t get to play, he gets 4 quarters in the SANFL a day later.

SPP in- Fredericks out (note though kid was solid on debut and this is no criticism of him )

Heavy hitters- inside midfield- Olly, SPP, Drew
Outside midfield - Boak, Rozee, Houston, Gray

Nice variety as SPP and Rozee can rotate between half forward and mid, Houston back and mid etc

Lots of positional flex and rotations there.

Add butters to mix when he gets back and wow happy days.
Coughs... And duursma when he is back as well 😉

Lol - no he doesn't. You've forgotten the Basheer-Whicker Memorial fu** Ports Clause preventing our unused sub being able to play that week in the sanfl.
That's only if he's been activated.

I don't think you can drop Fredericks after a debut like that. It would be too much of a kick in the guts.

Tough on kid , but I think spp will have to come in. Going to be a lot of tough decisions with the depth this year, but what a great position to be in.
If not Fredericks then it will be Woodcock, who hasn't done much wrong either.
Just think Woodcock can give your more postional flexibility.

Nah, if it made sense positionally it'd be fine. SPP is a midfielder / forward though. So if we don't want to mess with a balance that's been serving fairly well we'd drop a forward or mid. Given the expected conditions an extra mid is probably more useful then an extra forward.

He is being played as the defensive mid at centre bounce downs, and at a lot of stoppages around the ground.

yeah but general
Play he’s not near it. That’s what’s limiting his disposal count

Plenty of rain forecast for Friday and Saturday in Brizvegas, so I can see the Gabbattoir specialist, Rocky The Pig Rockliff getting a game. Will definitely be in the travelling squad.

makes a lot of sense, I’d chop Fredrick, tough ask for a secondgamer
