After being dropped last game and given strict instructions to add an even greater quantity and variety of running patterns to his repertoire, I think Masten is surely due to return to the side, super fresh and ready to strike terror into the Demons on Friday night. You can take this one to the bank because I know a bit. Don't expect it to be included in Mick's Multi because the odds are way too short.

Two main issues for me:
1. They’ve identified Optus Stadium’s hard surface as a concern, so it seems overly risky to bring him back for a game on that surface.
2. If they want to manage his minutes, it’s easier to do that in the WAFL.

Oh and a third: it’ll probably mean Waterman gets dropped after just one (reasonable) match back in the AFL side.
1. Valid point
2. Valid point
3. Valid point

Why not rest Kennedy or Darling and retain Waterman to play alongside OAllen? (if Rioli is an in). JK and JD look cooked and a rest would be beneficial.
Kennedy has the 'buddy factor' where every defender is worrying about where he's going which gives Oallen or Waterman the ability to get into space. Without Kennedy, the forward line potency literally halves in my opinion.

We won nearly every game last year that Kennedy missed ( edit ) in the early rds ..

So yeah ,er, um ..

generally tripple teamed - so as the saying goes we have two unattended forwards

We were 13-1 with Kennedy in the side last year and 6-5 without him.

Haha my bad ..

We won 4 of the first 5 without Kennedy so 4 wins and 1 loss Rd 1 v Sydney ..
No Kennedy for the after the bye loss to Essendon then North loss in Tassie etc etc ..

Anyone noticed that practically every time the ball comes in our forward 50, JK is clearly being held and double teamed by the opposition and the ******* umpires do nothing about it.

Yep. It has been open season on Kennedy so far this year. He really has been scragged mercilessly with nothing from the umps. Darling too has got basically nothing and is held and dragged down by the arm on almost every lead.

Our defenders have got a fair bit of leeway too but we seem to cough up relatively more holding frees. Not sure if the data bears that out but it is my perception.

He only missed the first three weeks. We went 2-1 in that period, 1-2 in the middle of the year and 3-2 when he missed the last five rounds before finals

Plus, a return to massive flooding tactics reduces the space that Kennedy and Darling can lead into.
The new rules have not changed the game, the Eagles 2018 premiership game plan have sent opposition clubs back to the drawing board.
The floods of 5 years ago have returned with a vengeance.
Teams are playing a 12 man defense after center bounce downs, an extra wingman on each side to stop the switch and kicking low and wide into their foeward lines to negate the marking power of our defenders.

I got Venners listed. $4.20 good odds to start a multi.. Providing there is no Waterman, Rioli playing mostly fwd(Cripps, Petch,Ryan and Rioli small fwds) and Masten gone.. Surely its this week he gets more mid time. He was rotating with Waterman last week and Jake was the 1st player to 5 disposals. Hoping thats Venners this week..

And if you are feeling lucky Venners is at $25 for 25+ and $101 for 30+

If its the swaps of Rioli in Waterman Out, Then jump on.

I don't think anyone needs big screenshots of betting odds and random crap about betting in general.

Nobody cares in the slightest, this isn't a thread for it.

I can watch the footy for that type of thing.

What would be funny was if the players saw this and fed Venners for 30+ times ..

Not to mention a bet like that is as good as standing in the street, tearing up money.

Sh1t tip HT but at least you remain consistent.

Absolutely! Also, we often have too many of our own players clusterf*ing the pack mark up. Oscar needs more experience in that area. Needs to have a chat with Yeo- he'll set him straight, as he did with Ryan?

With the forward flood back, lots of pressure and little space, it creates fast boot to ball and the chaos ball can work both ways, often a 50/50 opportunity. Can get locked in there like a pinball machine. Maybe why Petch could come into his own with more experience and better accuracy- he's like The Flash slowing time down as he zips around the witches hats...well, it works in comic books?.
