I disagree JJ had to play, but it would have definitely meant career over at Adelaide if he didn't (which at this point in time, I'd be happy to never see JJ in an Adelaide jumper again regardless of the incumbents performance). Lynch for Knight I can totally live with as a change as that was a late change, and we did miss a third target in the forward line badly, and Gibbs for Jones feels like a bit of a waste of time seeing how in and out Gibbs has been, and Jones being a kid we should be pumping more games in as I highly doubt we're having a deep finals run this season.

I'd probably be more negative on these selections, but not selecting Mackay despite being apparently available outweighs all of my gripes.
I'd have played Jones too, but really I can't see much wrong with the changes. Typically the Lindys in here can, but they'd find something wrong with anything we did.

Jenkins plays because Berg is gassed and playing him could harm him in the short term. Give Josh 2 weeks to put a flag in the ground, if he dishes rubbish up again we now know he will be dropped.

Gibbs is about mindset, that can be fixed.

Not really, Atkins is somehow still in the side and if Gibbs is in for Jones, Atkins is being picked ahead of DMac. And Atkins has been beyond woeful for a while.

Not really. Atkins has just been doing to bare minimum to pass as an outside midfielder, not woeful (remember people have rated Mackays offerings and Atkins has been outperforming him all season). Offering a bit offensively (though more in bursts then consistently), struggling defensively, usual middling outside midfielder shit really.

A real shame as there was a period where it looked like the sky was the limit for him.

Me too, if Melbourne get it together and just play on through the corridor all day we're kinda screwed we have virtually zero leg speed in the side.
They haven't got much either.

Oh I get why we're playing Jenkins, it's just very uninspiring to see someone we're at the point that we should be parting ways with selected. Feels like a waste.

I'm aware Gibbs is very much about mindset, though, I'd have preferred to not have used Jones for it. A harsh call, but I would have gone Kelly despite having a solid season as he's just not good enough to be a starter in the long term (and I'd like to continue with the Gibbs to half back "experiment")

IN - Josh Jenkins, Bryce Gibbs, Tom Lynch
OUT - Riley Knight, Chayce Jones, Elliott Himmelberg
NO Mackay (although might still be crook)
Sauce/Douglas not rushed back (fair enough, match fitness)

*head spins* o_O
Has Pyke finally said: "It's my job on the line, I'll be doing it my way thanks"?

Mackay has actually played well this season, and has provided run and spread. (Like he was supposed to do the last 4 years but hasn't)

Gallucci is pretty tough in the contest. He can take a big mark, he can kick it, he has pace.

Atkins is an outside player, that can handle inside pressure... He has great awareness, good vision and a beautiful kick. He does not apply any physical pressure. Ever.

Kelly has a specific role. He knows it, and plays it.

Hartigan is a big, fast defender that can spoil. He can't distribute very well and makes some shocking choices ... But he fits into our defensive 6 nicely.

I'll wait and see which JJ and which Gibbs turn up on Saturday ... I just hope they have gotten the message. If they don't do what the team needs them to do, that could spell an end for both in any longer term plans.

As for the young guys out of the 22 ... They look good, they will be fixtures in our best teams for years to come.

I probably would have gone with Harto for Gibbs, we look a bit tall. Still might make a late change I reckon.

With Jenkins, IMO this is his last chance and he does deserve one. He would know it, so if he doesn't perform the axe will come down for good.

Knight needs a solid block of SANFL games to find some form IMO.

good changes if we want to win this game which i prefer at this time over development.
An interesting take

Much like our Board and Coaches at times

Ehh the changes are ok in isolation. A bit bemused at the 2 selections after no SANFL form but I can see EH needing a spell. Jones? Yeah prefer to play him but he may have also hit a slight wall. And yet both are named in the SANFL side

Like most its the non-selections that intrigue me. Mackay, after being an auto selection most of the year is either still ill or the club have decided on a change of direction, yet the selections of Gibbs and JJ dont suggest cultural change. Lets wait until game time as DM is one of the emergencies.

Jacobs couldnt be considered without some for of a run. Douglas might need more games also.

His old man never really rated himself much as a footballer. 1 of strengths though was coaches giving him "jobs" to do, and he would get it done. I suspect Jake is very similar

Fair enough with Jones haven't seen anything yet in the senior team where I think ah right that's why pick 7.

Galluci very lucky but at least his first quarter was good last week.

If we won last week I doubt Jenkins and Gibbs play this week but our season is at the crossroads now. Berg did nothing the last two weeks and Gibbs can buy Crouch a beer.

I really miss Doedee

Does this mean Mackay isn’t best 22?

It does keep up the routine, starts well then dropped before the bye.

Anyone checked on AFC979810 ?

I get the feeling Campo strangely couldn’t convince Don this week of David’s value to the side...

You hate Darwin & want to make a crack about water
Mmm best stick to Henley on Todd in a dry river bed
How’s the Bully Dog going ?

Dog is good. Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky at dawn, sailors be warned. Wasn’t saying anything other than posting an old saying or whatever that is. But you’re right, i am not a fan of Darwin.
