I could understand playing Talia, Keath, Hartigan and Kelly while Brown was out, but now Brown is back - surely one needs to drop out?

And given the flexibility Hartigan offers and Keath's value as an interceptor, I reckon that one should be Kelly.

Jake has been super solid all year but we need more run. I'd rather Jones or even Mackay be playing this weekend than J.Kelly.

How did we go winning that premiership last year when we didnt win a game in May?

If the season is being a premiership contender, it's over. We've not beaten a team with any serious credentials yet this year, and we won't.

Correct weight.

The flag will come from one of Cats, Pies, Giants, Eagles or Tigers. That is obvious. Even if hit with injuries these 5 teams have the depth to cover.

Probably what will make those above teams vulnerable to losing to the other is the location of the prelims.

Cats are vulnerable at the G in a final, so too are the Giants. Neither of Cats, Pies or Tigers will want to face the Eagles in Perth in a prelim.

Crows, Lions, Hawks or whoever fills up positions 6-8 are just making up the numbers. Crows and Lions especially. Probably would need to win 3 interstate games in a row to win the flag.

I'd keep Kelly and drop Hartigan, especially seeing as we're coming up against sides with only 1-2 tall forwards.

Very happy Gallucci is still in the team, he has shown something despite only playing for a half, now play a full game......

Don't play him at half forward, and that may happen. Play him at half forward, and it won't happen.

It's not a position that allows consistency, especially when you're as low in the food chain as Gallucci.

I don't really mind the changes.

Think Jones is a bit small and has a fair bit to work on at this stage. I like that they're backing gooch in. He's at least physically okay.

Berg looked a bit cooked. Think he got a decent taste and hopefully he's back in this year at some stage. Still pretty light.

Gibbs is the one I'm not sure about. Obviously he's a class player and we paid a lot for him to be an integral part of our midfield. I just hope he's over whatever the hell has been causing him to perform so poorly. Needs to really step up.

I worry about our key forwards.

Who over the years have they had to work with on their forward craft?

Have any of them improved their leading, body work, positioning, reading the play etc since starting?

Mackay has actually played well this season, and has provided run and spread. (Like he was supposed to do the last 4 years but hasn't)

Gallucci is pretty tough in the contest. He can take a big mark, he can kick it, he has pace.

Atkins is an outside player, that can handle inside pressure... He has great awareness, good vision and a beautiful kick. He does not apply any physical pressure. Ever.

Kelly has a specific role. He knows it, and plays it.

Hartigan is a big, fast defender that can spoil. He can't distribute very well and makes some shocking choices ... But he fits into our defensive 6 nicely.

I'll wait and see which JJ and which Gibbs turn up on Saturday ... I just hope they have gotten the message. If they don't do what the team needs them to do, that could spell an end for both in any longer term plans.

As for the young guys out of the 22 ... They look good, they will be fixtures in our best teams for years to come.

All that sounds great and positive and all..but with all that quality we still could not beat brisbane, a bog average hawthorn and a rubbish north melbourne side. Tells me these guys are just average players

Did we hit the panic button? Genuine question
I think that's pretty obvious. You could see how cut Pyke was last week after we choked it.

It's all well and good making an example of certain players but after two pretty dismal defeats based on team wide failure our season is now on the line

Gibbs in because his defects are not as bad as those players going out as judged by last week. Gibbs is all about attitude, so good form on the training track counts, not his match form so much.

I think the standard that Gibbs has to meet is Sloane. They may have different skill levels etc but Sloane contributes consistently week in week out. It is the minimum we must see from Gibbs. We are getting it from Brouch now plus Greenwood and CEY most weeks

Consistency and whatever defensive running has been identified as a flaw

Agreed, Pyke was not happy.

Performance is key now

Plus developing the Gooch, clearly...

When the pressure is on, our club will always retreat back to failing senior players and the comfort of a 6th - 12th finish. And we will never do better because of that.
What an inane comment.

Let’s look at team that go to the bottom. Carlton, Melbourne, St Kilda...yep worked for them.

Meanwhile Geelong are top of the ladder and never even got close to bottoming out.

Agree, he is a midfielder and looked good when he was sent into the middle against Brisbane.

It helps when you can just take the best players in the league from loser clubs...

Shame we don't apply the performance criteria for coaching and football department staff. Jobs for life.
