Like the Gooch but agree he’s not where he needs to be right now.

Clearly they want him as a best 22 and giving him every opportunity to run himself into some form.
I’d really like him to get there, but I’m surprised he’s been given so many opportunities as I haven’t seen him do anything of significance in watching the games and the stats are equally damning.

It’s funny the leeway lots of posters will give to someone just because they are a first round pick. Being a first round pick doesn’t mean you’ll develop into a good player once you play enough games. Unfortunately some will just never get there.

End of the day if they Help the Crows win and play there part in the Crows kicking a score of 100+ points, I will be happy.
I'll be happy if the Crows win in a low-scoring, dour slog.
Edit: I'll take ANY win, but I'll be veryvery happy if it's a hammering, our way. We owe them a hiding after last year .

Apparently all of last weeks problems were caused by the key forwards.

Wrong

From half way through the 3rd we were smashed in the midfield, stoppage structures went down the toilet, no defensive action.

In fact there was some footage from the 1st quarter showing Sloane pushing B Crouch in the direction of an exiting WCE player.

If he wasn’t chasing in the 1st quarter, little hope it was happening in the 4th
So you think our key forwards made the most of their chances last week?

Come on be honest & take off your rose coloured glasses...

Media pile-on really starting with Gibbs recall, on back of Tex stuff. If we lose this will be a deluge. Season could go like last year.

Agree totally mate.

Once again, as it was for the last couple of years, all of the talk about the strength of our SANFL side, and the pressure for selection based upon performance, has turned out to be total ********.
It's not that hard to understand.

He doesn't need a SANFL game against the bottom side to work on defensive positioning. He's best 22 in our side, and was in most people's eyes unfairly dropped.

This game last season was when our wheels completely fell off... hopefully it's the reverse this year!

Funny how he's the only one this gets applied to though.

We've had issues with unaccountability going back to when we had peak Thommo and Dangerfield running around.

Crouch x2, CEY, Douglas, Laird, Atkins and at times Smith are all guilty of not showing their opponents respect and/or refusing to run both ways.

I put a lot of the blame down to Campo, who is usually quick to point out whichever stats we won that week (and ignore the ones we were reamed in).
All of them have higher pressure numbers than Gibbs was recording. Crouches and CEY were consistently in our top 5. As I've said before, Gibbs had two games where he recorded 4 pressure acts and less overall than Tex in the 6 games they played together. Freaking Taylor Walker was better at applying pressure than Gibbs was.

Oh of course - you had Tex omitted didn’t you. How did that work out?

Look, neither had their best night, I’ve not disputed that at any point.

But if you think they take all the blame, and that it wasn’t the midfield that sh...t the bed, then I don’t know what to tell you

But in saying that, our midfield were largely the reason we got 33 points up. The only forward who fired was Milera.

Still no response on the “doesn’t do anything in big moments” rubbish.

What your actually hanging on to desperately is the fact Tex has had 1 poor game in about 5 weeks.

The midfield lost us that game - it’s pretty cut and dried. That they got us 33 up without contributions from the key forwards makes them no less culpable.

True. I was sitting in the southern stand on Saturday thinking exactly the same thing. After 21 years and counting apathy has started to set in.
I have to agree. I sat there at 3/4 time and said to my mate “ you know we will probably lose this” neither of us really gave a shit as it happened.

If we win, will this be the best ever win in Don Pyke's coaching career? Like, even better than finals wins, according to Hinkley after they won in round 1.

He performed well, but I still cannot believe we are playing Milera forward.

Agreed. We just find it so hard to drop average role players who are playing well enough to be in the “don’t deserve to be dropped” pile, that our genuine quality is forced to play out of position to maintain structure, because these other players can’t play other roles. Sometimes tough decisions need to be made, role players should be selected to cover positions you lack quality in.

Lol just laugh at people who pump Gooch up on here . Aside his 4 goals against Carlton what has he ever done that stand out . 1 goal in 5 games and doesn’t do anything well.
lol at you, spamming every thread about Galluci and your poor opinion of him is poor form. Once was enough.

Being slight doesn't stop him from getting more of the footy - he's just not that good.

And if he wasn't a downhill skier Atkins would probably be a star.

But that isn't the case, so who cares.
I did consider that. I still think he'd get a few more touches because of it. He struggles to stay in a contest and sometimes can't even dispose of the ball because he can't break a finger tip. He'd then be on 19 instead of 15 touches!
