I will back your judgement on SANFL issues any day Ross but you have to ask if Lycett was beaten by Redden how is he included in the official best players list? Maybe the Port Magpies were that bad that they put him in to pad out the best players list or maybe someone went to Specsavers and got two pairs of rose coloured glasses for the price of one?

I think you are right and we will see Lycett back in the AFL next week. Not the way I would go but it looks like Ken wants him in.
Lycett was pretty good in the 1st quarter. Pretty sure he had 7 touches and a goal, and the taps he was winning were advantaging our mids who were doing alright. The next 3 quarters he barely contributed with 9 touches, was beaten in ruck and our midfield was destroyed.

Definitely keep him in the sanfl until he can compete for 4 quarters.
6 more weeks should get him up to speed

Looks like Scott ran out of steam and that suggests he needs at least another week in the SANFL to get up to speed.

Assuming Bonner is fit he comes straight in for an unlucky Burgoyne. Have heard some rumblings Fantasia is good to go for this game and if that's the case you bring him in for Mead and have Mead as the sub.

Not keen on bringing Lycett back but won't be surprised if they do - i think one of the talls will have to be dropped (either Finlayson or MG) if that were to be the case.

Fantasia will play this week.

From his own mouth in the outer on Saturday night.

You'd assume it's for the Magpies though.

Having said that if there is a game you'd take the risk for its probably this one. Lose it and its season over anyway.

I dont think they have the luxury of getting him games with the Magpies at this point in the season. He was brought in for the big games as a small crumbing forward. If on the rare occasion he is indeed fit, throw him to the wolves.

Unpopular opinion: I like our current ruck set up

Why? It cost the team against Freo and Richmond when they couldn't buy a clearance, and it nearly cost them against the Suns.

Against the weaker sides the combo of Finlayson and Dixon suffices, but not against the true top half dozen rucks in the competition.

If Lycett comes back it'll be off the club telling us we need to win more hit-outs not anything else he provides. Conveniently ignoring with Hayes they said hit-outs (of which he's better) are meaningless.

Lycett should never play for us again, but I'm almost hoping he does and we don't drop a tall. I'll look forward to Port then down a small combining with a ruck who relies on smalls around him to make up for his inability to win clean hit-outs to advantage. It should guarantee we'll be smashed. With it plastered over as not at all contributing to it and Scotty just needs another week. Koch and co. are spineless shits who are 90% odds to not get rid of Ken even when we miss finals, but that small 10% chance has me hoping for the karma that Kens inexplicable dislike of Hayes and love of Lycett's game will be the thing that ensures we are out of finals contention early enough to force their hand.

And it's not a long term solution. Dixon retires in a year or two and we're back to square one.

As much as I want to keep playing Hayes, Dixon & Finlayson are more competitive - especially against two mobile beasts.

Otherwise, go big or go home i say. Do whatever we can to free up Aliir. Will be really intrigued to see how Amon, Bergman & Farrell line up against Brayshaw & Langdon. Tough match-up.

Bonner -> Burgoyne
Fantasia -> Mead

Mead -> Sub, for when Fantasia gets hurt.

Out
Mead Burgoyne
IN
Duursma Bonner

Simple.
Fantasia in the sanfl
What has Duursma done this year to deserve to take Burgoyne's spot in the side?
