Well we all know Brown is back this week so the question of the week is who makes way for Brown and most likely Tivendale to return.

IMO the Candidates are:
Edwards - young kid who has had a bit of a run in the side and has showed some promise. However is not getting much game time and may go back to Coburg to get more.

Hyde - had plenty of the ball but too many times got caught when we were mounting a run.

White - nothing against the kid just fails to have much impact on games.

For mine I would go with Hyde and White. Brown is likely to play off the bench so I would keep Edwards and alternate him and Brown. Let Edwards start first 10 minutes and then once the quarters settle down get Brown on for 10-15 minutes then give Edwards the last 5.

this is why the tigers hasnt won, you want someone who has 5 minute a game and expect the midfield, rucks and others to run all day. no thanks! hyde and white are better and more versitile than edwards.

I think the canditates to come INto the side are as follows:
Brown: A certainity who will play 40-50% of the match
Tivendale: Ripped it up at Coburg last week in only a half of footy, would be almost a certainity to come back
Krakouer: Has been very good for Coburg the last few weeks
Schulz: Kicked 5 goals in 2 weeks at Coburg. IMO hasn't done enough to come back in, but if Kingsley is dropped we will be lacking tall fowards

Players that will be knocking on the door in coming weeks: JON, Jack, Hartigan, McGuane, Moore (pretty sure hes gawn though), Conners

The canditates for going OUT of the side are as follows:
White: Probably the most obvious. Just needs more time at VFL, has good aggression but as he plays mostly backward of centre he really needs to work on his defensive game, mainly spoils etc.
Edwards: Was good enough last week not to be dropped, but with so many knocking on the door he might be back at Coburg
Polo: Has just been straight up ordinary since coming back from his shoulder injury, should be rested back to half a game at Coburg. Hopefully can pick up his game for the rest of the year
Howatt: Has just been okay since he has come back for his last stint in the VFL
Kingsley: With Brown coming in and Kingsley may be out to create more space. Alternivly Schultz may come in otherwise we only have 1 tall close to goal in Richo has Huges plays alot more around CHF. Deledio may start foward again
Hyde: I think he did enough not to be dropped last week, but he could come into question

Thats your opinion and a fair point but IMO Edwards is a better option to play off the bench rotating with Brown. Seeing as though the forward line may look something like:

HF: Pettifer Hughes Tambling
FP: Brown/Edwards Richo Kingsley

Now think about it for a minute, as Brown is not playing the whole game, will most likely spend about half the time on the bench, Edwards is currently doing the same. Play Edwards as a FP and have him alternate with Brown that allows players like:
Pettifer/Tambling/Deledio/Tivendale/Jackson/Howat/Foley/Tuck/Johnson/Polo/ to rotate all through the middle and the HFF's. Even Edwards can rotate through if needed. The point is Edwards is a kid we are trying to develop and has not done much wrong since coming into the side. Like Hyde he takes the game on and occasionally gets caught, like Hyde will kick a goal if given the chance. Just think it is worth getting more experience into Edwards at this stage than giving Hyde who has had opportunities another chance.

B: King, McGuane, J Bowden
HB: Raines, Polak, Newman
C: Tambling, Tuck, Howat
HF: Deledio, Richardson, White
F: Brown, Pettifer, Jackson
FOLL: Pattison, Johnson, Foley
I/C (from): Edwards, Hughes, Tivendale, Hyde

In: Brown, Tivendale, McGuane
Out: Kingsley(Omit), Polo (Rested/Shoulder), Thursfield (Omit)

I was considering dropping Thursfield but I think if Miller comes into the side he will be the perfect opponent for Thursty. No Neitz also helps Polak roam freely or take a Holland if he goes foward.

This would leave Newman to go on Picked, Bowden on Robbo, and Raines/Jackson on whoever else is planying foward, leaving Polak loose and King to mop up at ground level

Also regarding White, I think he has to be dropped and would have been the first name to come up.

With Kingsley, I don't think we can drop him and not have another tall foward come into the side. Huges is young and can only be expected to play 60-80% of the game, which means for up to %40 we would only have Richo as a tall foward. Sure Jackson and Deledio can add tallish targets I think if Kingsley came out Schultz or Riewoldt would have to go back in, or alternativly play Polak at CHF when Huges is resting.

The reason I have kept White in the team is because he played with concussion last game, showed some toughness and got a few possessions and has a strong frame. I like the kid.

Miller is a good point but I think we'd be able to cover him, he'll realise how big the jump is from VFL.

surely thursfield wont get dropped, he hasnt been that bad, plus its egg on face for terry after the gasper incident. We may as well keep him in for the year now. He has been getting better with every game

Did you watch him agaisnt Freo?....

He was almost put straight back into the seniors straight after his recovery, maybe a 4 weeks at Coburg would have helped him step up to the level of AFL. McGuane was harshly dropped, so there is no reason why the "Messiah" shouldn't be if he plays another game like he did against Freo

With Brown playing only 40-50% then Edwards will either play about 75% or be dropped. Can't have too many 50% players.

Krakouer didn't play last week IIRC, that means he should be an inclusion this week.

IN: Brown, Tivendale, Krakouer
OUT: Edwards, Polo, Hyde

I'd like to see McGuane come back in, possibly for Thursfield. Our back 6 have been fairly solid and none of them don't deserve a game atm with Thursty the slight exception (being fast tracked a little).

Double negative, I them:D

Why even consider dropping a Thursfield or an Edwards when we are not going to play finals. The more senior games the better.

It has gotta be kingsley and probably hyde. Both are and always will be cr*p.

Considering Melbourne don't have any great KPPs (Bowden takes Robbo, nietz out.. Miller may be in), is there a chance Jack Riewoldt will come in and play CHB?

He was in the best for Coburg when playing CHB last week.

no one like's a smart ass - especially one which goes for a side that struggles to get 12,000 people to a game when they haven't got the rest of the victorian clubs filling the stands for them

Hey I agree, but it looks like Terry is bringing them in so be prepared for it.

Tiv will definately play and Krakouer was rested last week when he could have played, so there must be a reason (like Brown)...

quite possibly. it is also possible that you will lose - or maybe you will win - but only just.

but i will put money on you still being a dog ttuurrrdd - and your club not having a soul.

have a nice bout of bum sex tonight betson5:)

I'd like to see Polak play FF this week and drop Kingsley.

They have Robbo and maybe Miller, no Neitz.

Hope Polly kicks 5 goals this week :thumbsu:

But you see then Polak will have to be played fullfoward on he potential that he once kicked 5 goals, which even digs our tall backman into a larger hole. I would like to see him play looseman CHB for the first half, and then, considering the circumstances, play him up foward in spells, maybe 1 quater all up which could see him snag 2 or 3 goals

I believe raines would be a great match up on Robbo asuming they won't try bowden again after last year. Raines job on tarrant last week really impressed me.

I think that is what Terry will do. We won't really need much fire power down back this week so it's a possiblity.

Joel Bowden could play loose man if Andrew Raines took Robbo. I've really liked Rainesy's defensive work this year and it would be a good direction for him if he can begin stopping the best medium forward every week. As a sweeping back pocket he doesn't have the skills, so he needs another hook for his game and hopefully this is it. Would be fantastic, he'd almost be like a shorter Darren Gaspar who can hurt you the other way (sometimes.. :D)

Top call, what was the point of that idiot's drunken spouting, anyway?
Putting Jack Riewolt at CHB actually would sit brilliantly with what a bunch of Demon's supporters are hoping for, which is young Michael Newton to come in for Neitz, making his debut at last.
They'd probably both benefit from having similarly aged direct opponents.
Of course, Newton would kick seven goals, receive three seperate nominations for mark of the year and send the whole football world into a frenzy if the chatter about him is right.
