I'm going to say that we go in unchanged.

Give Medhurst and Cloke another weeks rest and then play them in the 2's during our week off ready for a return in round 12.

You can't really drop anyone.

Leigh Brown can't be dropped after what he did, it'd be sending that wrong message.

Might as well go in unchanged eh.

Hate to say it but we on't need two ruckmen against the Dees...

Wood out
Cloke in

Also Medhurst too good to keep out of the side...
Toovey's disposal was woeful tonight... had a couple of good moments but not good enough to keep medhurst's spot...

Toovey out
Medhurst in

Depth is a wonderful thing.

Surely though, we have to squeeze Medhurst in if he's fit; he's a matchwinner! Maybe Tooves has to make way for him (Tooves is usually the default omission anyway). Or perhaps Wellers has to make way. I know he played well, but on a couple of occasions he had shots at goal from the 50, and he missed them both. Maybe he needs to learn to nail these (as good as he was)?

Don't know if Cloke will be right this week, but he can't come back through the 2s. What a bout Beames? Played a blinder in the 2s and is obvioulsy too good for VFL. Maybe he comes in for SS, who was a little quitet tonight?

Tough gig being a selector this week.:)

No way will Sharrod be dropped.

A player like Medhurst simply can't be left out if he is 100% fit. Someone has to make way, possibly Toovey. He's just unlucky that we're getting everyone back and that everyone else was so good tonight, because Tooves was okay! As for Cloke, I think our forward line functioned quite well. I don't think Cloke and Brown can be in the side together, so perhaps Cloke gets another week off, given Brown's game?

Wouldn't you rather take the conservative approach though of giving him the absolute maximum of rest, and then getting him some touch in the 2's.

Medhurst's injury was talked down in seriousness, but he's missed a fair chunk of footy.

I'm not Toovey's biggest fan, but his job has been to stop dangerous forward and make them accountable. Gray had enough footy today, but little impact. So until Toovey does a bad job, it's very hard to replace him.

As for Melbourne and their ruckman they played 2 last night. Johnson and Jamar.

Not the best duo, Johnson can find a bit of footy, but we've looked better with the 2 big men in the side, and why not play to our advantage of 2 ruckmen rather than play to what the demons field? I mean we're a better side right?

Medhurst has to come in if fit.

Id say:

INS - Medhurst OUTS - Cox

If Cloke is fit which I doubt i'd also drop L Brown for Cloke but realistically he probably won't come up.

Beams is stiff but i'm not sure who you would drop for him. Maybe Pendlebury if he really does have a niggle.

Wellingham was brilliant.

I don't think a stint in the 2's will do anything but help Beams.

I say unless Medhurst or Cloke rips the training track apart we should not make a change.

Imagine the side we will have to pick against Sydney, with the 22 today and the following to be considered;

Medhurst,
Cloke,
McCarthy,
Beams,
Barham,
Dawes,
Rusling,
Johnson (2-3 weeks away, so may be right).

All of a sudden we have some depth in a number of different areas.

It's not a definite win ffs, we pick best available.

I wouldn't be rushng Cloke back as his form was average prior to injury so I'd like them to be sure he is 100% fit. A VFL game when we have the bye would be ideal.

Medders must come in, not sure if its for Tooves or Cox though, as we're replacing defenders with a forward...

Might be Sidebottom unfortunately that makes way for Medders.

Funny, didn't see anyone implying it was.

If Medders is fit, and people are suggesting 'we rest him' then they are implying that very thing, or they are fools.

Didak came straight in arfter a 5 week hammy, Medders has only missed 3 and was in superb form pre-injury.

You see Didak has been in full training for a fortnight now, and also Medhurst has missed 4. He didn't join in any training last week.

If Medhurst is 100% ready then play him no doubt, if not give him another week, and then get some touch in the 2's which will be a luxury and bring him into the side for the round 12 clash against the swans. Surely you'd agree?

As for Didak, I just watched the last quarter. He was involved in a passage of play with about 3 minutes left where Clarke or Shaw I believe handballed over his head. Didak jumped and it looked awkward, this may be the instance referred to, but he was then involved in another 1 or 2 contests and moved fine. he also walked off the field without looking proppy so I believe we look safe there.

If Medhurst is fit he plays for Sidebottom.

Our team balance was perfect this week. Sidey played half forward, a like for a like.

Toovey played as a tagger and a half back, similar to cox.. he pushed up to the wing. Neither are the roles Medhurst will play.

For me out Sidey (looks good but only had 4 kicks) in Medhurst

Wellingham has taken his opportunity. Cloke should replace Brown when fit.

Agree with a the line of thinking of a fair few.

If Medhurst is fit and avalible he comes straight back in. It is hard to choose someone to give a spell from the side on the weekend, especially because the two players in the gun are defenders and there is a team balance issue. I think Sidebottom may well be the one to make way.

I would not be against Cloke coming back through the two's anyway. Give him a chance to run into some form or confidence.

Sidey has a good chance of being rubbed out for a few weeks. That bump in third (?) looked bad.

I know theyll persist with Toovey, but he could use a rest for me.

If Medhurst or Cloke are ready id have them in.

Out: Sidey, Toovey
In: Medhurst, Cloke

in: medhurst
out: sidebottom

b: toovey prestigiacomo o'brien
hb: shaw n brown maxwell
c: clarke swan wellingham
hf: lockyer l brown thomas
f: medhurst anthony didak
r: fraser pendlebury davis

int: wood cox dick o'bree

eme: cloke sidebottom beams

Now i hate Leigh Brown, but he actually played well yesterday so if he was never dropped after his appalling games he has no hope of getting dropped this week. Travis will have to front up in the two's, let's face it before his injury he had done nothing anyway, if he didn't get injured it wouldve been interested to see how long we persisted with him in the one's.

The two's will have Dawes, Rocca, Reid and Cloke in the side. (possibly)

Wellingham, Dick and Toovey would generally be the ones that you'd consider leaving out when we get the guns back, but they put in good/great games each, so they cant be dropped.

No way....... I must admit it looked bad at the match.... but when I watched the replay at home, sidey hit him on the shoulder..... The umpire even said in the side and he didnt even pay a free kick, so in my opinion wont even get looked at.... Steele Sidebottom what a bad a$$!

I am very happy we won against Port.
One would think that we should pulverise Melbourne this week, but we must also tread carefully, and we must be on our game this week becuase from all reports Melbourne will throw everything at us.
Don't know if any one read a report in the herald sun last week,i can't remember the Journo that wrote it but he said, that Melbourne plan to beat Collingwood?
Because even if they lose to other clubs, they use that build up to throw everything at Collingwood. Why ?
The DEES feel that the collingwood games attract their biggest crowds and plus the TV coverage on Queens birthday allows them the biggest audience of the year ,so they have to put on a big show for their supporters and drive memberships. No other club allows them this much exposure, that's why according to this article we must be very weary of the dees this week. With JACK WATTS being touted to debut,Roberston, and Miller up forward with bate, wonermeri, silvia,Davey up forward they could cause us some unnecessary head aches.

Watts is hardly the issue, having seen him in a couple of VFL games his a great talent but still physically not ready for AFL KPP. I think Harry would match up pretty well on Watts at this stage.

Melbournes midfield could be an issue. Whilst the score line didn't reflect it Melbourne for most of the game really pushed St Kilda. They were able to win a lot of contested ball around the middle of the ground. If guys like McClean, Jones, Slyvia and Maloney play well they are a good chance of getting first use of the ball too often for my liking. Fortunately for us they turn it over a fair bit so guys like Cox and Heater are going to have to play a big role rebounding.
