Changes vs Melbourne

I reckon Mzungu should be allowed some breathing room.

Rhys has proved beyond reasonable doubt he is suspect. The jury on Tendai is mostly still deliberating.

Youve shot your bolt a bit early me thinks.

Your most laughable opinion since you said Swift will be an A grader. Mzungu's disposal is dead ordinary, worse than Palmer's has ever been. But you have an axe to grind when it comes to Palmer, it's well documented.

Seems you've jumped the gun.

Swift had the potential to be an A-grade midfielder, his knees are shot.

Mzungu's kicking in the last quarter vs Essendon, some 4 games in, with the Bombers coming, demonstrated his poise and quality by foot.

I have no problem with Mzungu, but it's not like he's 18 years old. There are double standards with Palmer. There are a number of players who have played as poorly as him, yet don't get made sub or dropped. And there are quite a few passengers that have remained in the team.

Pull up some vision of him playing for Perth.

You're overstating it. Tendai's games in the pre-season were excellent.

I'm not overstating anything. He butchered the ball against the Saints, and his man kicked 4 goals.

Who cares what he did for Perth or in the preseason? Palmer's never played a game as bad as Mzungu's game against the Saints.

Which was the case two years ago when you were saying he was the next Judd.

Which was still less impressive than Palmer's game against Port.

Are you really comparing using Tendai's first full game of footy as the basis of your argument? Really? First game back from a knee?
His next two games have improved with each one.
As for your other argument it's pish, as previous form is at least indicative if what he can do.

I've never called anyone the next Judd because that's unfair.

Swift had the potential to play in a manner similar to Judd, that is bursting from congestion until his left knee buckled, which hasnt healed properly, clearly.

Which was still less impressive than Palmer's game against Port.

You're kidding right?

Port were never in the contest and barely applied any pressure on the ball carrier over the course of the match.

Tendai stood up in a pressure situation and hit his targets, over distance too I might add.

I'd hate to lose Palmer. Ho could be a Robert Harvey. As he gets older he'll learn how use his assets better.

Looking at our team's over all body shape with Mzungu and Clark included Rhys could go the way of the dodo.

Athletes versus footy players.

He's 25, not 18. He gets rated on the same level as other 25 year olds, like Josh Head was.

There was hardly an improvement for his next game. 13 possessions at 62% disposal inclduing two clangers isn't much better.

But he gets a free pass, inexplicably. Meanwhile, the knives are out for a former Rising Star winner. Interesting culture.

Essendon weren't much better. Don't think Tendai did much in the last other than that goal, either. Nothing that stood out and said 'this guy can play'.

But as is documented on here, you have bizarre gripes and weirdo fetishes for certain players and teams.

Mzungu looks so much more balanced and confident in his game then Palmer does in his, plainly obvious to see on the field.

There's been numerous times in games that players have overlooked a wide open Palmer, wonder what's going on there? Perhaps he does not have the trust of his fellow players as well as the coaching staff. If that's the case why have him out there?

Lol.

If you cant see Palmer is a spent force and Mzungu is a more rounded player, good luck to you.

A spent force? So a 22 year old first round draft pick with a Rising Star award is finished. That's an amazing failure at both recruitment and development. Could have had Rioli or Dangerfield.

The 2007 draft should then be marked as a bust, then. First year of our rebuild seemingly yielded little. Wonder how the others will fare.

On the Mzungu issue you are TOTALLY clueless.
Mzungu's skills are amongst the best on our list.
He is a beautiful kick on either foot and the only thing he may have been suffering from is nerves in his first few proper games. Just give him another few weeks to adjust to the higher level.

Yeah it probably was the wrong decison, we all got wowed by a 5 goal game and some hard running forward of the play.

Unfortunately for Rhys, perhaps the result of his knee injury he hasnt kept pace with the game.

As Mick says, stand still and you get left behind.

Get your hand off it.

some crazy comments bagging mzungu happening on this thread. any player deserves leniancy after only playing 4 games of afl, whether 18 years old or 25 years old, especially coming back from injury :o

We can only look forward to some of the comments re: Morabito in the early part of next year...

Serious doubt on Chopper Mayne this game...appears Mellington may debut alongwith Osso Buco....

I don't want to lose Palmer either but he'll never get anywhere near Harvey. Harvey was an absolute champion and it's becoming clear that Rhys will just become a good solid inside mid with average disposal by foot. Would love to keep him but its pretty obvious it won't happen.

He's going, which is a shame but the club is bigger than any one player.
