Changes vs North Melbourne

would make 3 changes next week 1 forced, and 2 omissions.

Impey out Colquhoun in. We could do with Colquhoun elite kicking leg
Redden out Lobbe in (if fit)
Neade out Young in, mainly for better midfield rotation.
We saw what happens when we rush a player back in this week. Let's not do it again

I can possibly see Butcher coming in for Redden just so Ryder can ruck if Lobbe is out. Hartlett stays, he just needs to find his touch and he can do it this week. Young in for Neade. We need to be putting a rocket up Broadbent, Westhoff and Hartlett. We can't afford to have those three all out of form.

Not really sure there's much point playing musical chairs with John Butcher. Maybe Mitch Harvey with his part time ruckwork would be a better option? But I doubt it.

We're at etihad next week, if Lobbe doesn't come up, play Ryder in the ruck and bring in an extra runner.

Why not? Butcher is is pretty decent form

I had Butcher still in the team if Lobbe didn't come up.

I was in the boat where I was saying Redden needs SANFL games under his belt first. The kid hasn't walked for 2 years and we want to play him against a grand finalist?

Not only that we were probably planning to sub him out after 3 quarters and Impey ended up getting injured early and that gamble did not pay off one bit.

Lobbe for Red (great to see him back - still not enough confidence in the knee to jump and brace against bodies yet, but it's a start). If Lob's not fit, leave Red in one more game.
Young for Neade - love Neady but..... to many skill errors. A couple of weeks at SANFL level to hone his confidence and he will be back.
Buddha said Krak not yet ready, so for Impey I would add Moore as a mid and drop Ebo to the backline full time (they only have Boomer as a quick small forward so he should not be too exposed back there).

Time to make a call on Butcher and Young and either back them in to play regularly at AFL level or consign them to the SANFL.

The musical chairs isn't good for them.

I'm of the belief that once Kane gets to 300, he should be replaced permanently by Young.

Lobbe in (with an if) : Redden out
Mitchell in : Neade out
Young in : Impey out

It if wasn't for Impey's injury White could be on the chopping block.

No advantage can be gained throwing Butch to the lions again, let him start beating down the door in the SANFL before he's brought back. And then give him consecutive games. This drip feed of 1 here, 2 there is doing nothing.

Lobbe isn't going to get up next week.. If Hinkley names him it's a big mistake because we are underdone enough as it is.

Hartlett will it not be dropped.

Neade has to go though, it's beyond a joke now the only thing he offers are free kicks from his ducking. Bring in Young as he can run through the midfield and allow Gray to actually go forward.

Have the feeling Broadbent might not get up.. He was cooked and would've been subbed had impey not been injured. I'd personally pick p.stew but possibly fridge will come in.

I reckon Mitchell is a certainty to come in next week, Kern loves his line breaking running power.

We absolutely can't play Redden again. What a disaster that was. We clearly intended to sub him and when we couldn't we had him basically jogging on the spot while wincing for the whole second half.

Looking forward to seeing a fit Reddo back, but not like that.

If Lobbe is still out, Butcher comes in, Ryder rucks all day and Trengove and Westhoff pinch hit.

Redden absolutely cannot play next week.

Just thinking out loud here.
If Lobbe doesn't come up I'm 60/40 about playing Butcher over Redden. Butcher seemed to go alright in the Magpies and if he can play like that against North I'd take him. Redden is missing a lot of match practice as we all know.
He should be better for the run but is he better off getting games in the sanfl?
I like the idea of Ryder playing forward for most of the game and just chopping out for a bit in the ruck. But if we are getting killed in the clearance work due to not getting any hit outs that's going to hurt us more IMO than not having an extra target up forward.

I hope Lobbe is ready to play next week then this discussion takes care of itself.

Neade goes hard at it but his disposal by foot is terrible at the moment, including his kicks for goal.

So Redden out for Lobbe/Butcher

Impy out injured for Kracker/Stuart depending on match ups

Neade out omitted for Young

Neade has great energy and is at least finding the ball more often ....but his mistakes are costly = OUT
Redden's selection was arrogant. He is miles away from AFL atm = OUT
Impey injured = OUT

Young can help with midfield rotations and kick goals = IN
Moore as above =IN (SUB)
Butcher in so Ryder can ruck = IN

All the talk pre season about having enough ruckman was bullshite

This post saves me having to type out my changes as they are identical.

Given all three ins performed well in the SANFL it helps justify the changes.

Inb4 Redden stays as he needs more opportunity.

Yeah White was much better last night actually one of the only players along with Pittard who ran hard & broke through Sydney's great wall on numerous occasions, only for Neade & co to ruin the chain going inside 50.

When are the selection committee going to pick on fit/form instead of choosing favourites & randomly playing musical chairs with a number of the fringe players? Butcher, Young, Moore etc

Our forward line was better structurally last week with Butcher in it, he was the in form forward of the preseason & even he wouldn't have shanked both of the shots straight in front that Schulz missed.

Neade's selection after his preseason was a complete joke, Redden after 2 years out was a big mistake & in turn we were 3 players down once Impey did his hammy.

In: Moore/Krakouer (not sure he's elevated yet), Young, Butcher
Out: Neade, Redden, Impey

He was dropped a week ago.

And for a guy the coaches must have known was nowhere near match fit.
Butch was dropped because Westoff and Schultz have credits. He performed better than both. Also had a better week this week than either of them.

About the only change I'd like to see is Krakauer in as whilst all credit must go to Sydney, IMO there's not enough recognition of the rebounding drive we lost with Impey being subbed early coupled with Broadbent limping around from even before the substitution.

Before that the ball was pretty well locked in Sydney's half of the ground.

Ruck and the lack of usual rebound cost us big time last night.

Westhoff and Schulz have credits for a good reason, right now they are far better footballers than Butch. Against North Melbourne does Butcher offer more than Young or Krak? I think 2014 and last week showed that most weeks he probably doesn't.

I'm not sure you can really say Butcher had a better week. Sure he had a prettyu good game but he was playing in a big win in the reserves not a big loss in the seniors. Apples and oranges.

In young krak
Our neade impey

Krak hasn't missed a beat since coming back he'll fit in for imp young to help with the extra rotation through the guts

Big problem is gonna be the ruck with Goldstein being probably top 2 ruck in afl. Ryder is gonna struggle if he's by himself but I feel even after that run redden is just not up to scratch which is fair enough. Just feel we'd be better off if we could try a bit of a left field move and play jacko in the forward line and swap with Ryder. But then u lose ur general down there.

I'm glad I'm not the one making the hard decisions cause there's a fair bit weighing on this game more than I hoped
