Changes vs North Melbourne

Can I just say that what's the point of having a 2-ruck system with an extra man forward when we just end up bombing it to Neade 3-1 anyways?

I'm going with RussellEbertHandball though, no changes unless Lobbe can force his way back in
Neade is kicked to because he is the one working hardest to present, pure and simple (credit to Macca19 for the original thought). What should happen is that Neade and Monfries lead to the flanks creating space for others to work into, but our midfield is not working hard enough to make that work.

16 kicks at 60% 2 contested posessions and 1 tackle is not a midfielders armpit....Look at jacks stats

Completely agreed, and I also think it's due to our tall forwards (Schulz, Ryder) aren't creating or competing enough from a deep position to give the little guys a chance.

I think we are also looking too much for the perfect pass into the forward line, we end up taking too long, over possessing and by that time the forward line is clogged up, sometimes you have to just kick it 20 out and bring it to ground

Agree.

Our issue was that Sydney worked their asses off to get back and clog up space.

You beat that sort of football with the sort of unstoppable lightning slingshot football we became known for in 2014.

We fluffed around with it too much then were basically forced to kick places where we were outnumbered. Too often we chipped around when smashing it straight up the corridor and backing our guys in would have been better. The forward always has a big advantage when you move the ball quickly.

Ins:
Young - Shocking he hasn't been rewarded for pre-season form and must be in the side. Gives us the option to send Gray forward without losing midfield grunt and his dangerous around goal himself.

O'shea - Seemed the standard In when Impey was Out last year. Looked comanding at $ANFL level on friday night (something we couldn't say about him early last season). He's an even more important in if Trengove is backup ruck as he can cover if need be.

Lobbe (if fit) - Obvious reasons. One of our best tacklers and we clearly miss him around stoppages
OR
Butcher - Kicked 4 in the $ANFL and took plenty of marks. And it wasn't just his stats that were impressive, he was clearly a class above on friday night.

Outs:
Neade - While I do understand it isn't his fault he's having the ball kicked on his head, I can't accept what he's currently doiing when he gets his hands on the ball.

Impey (inj) - Shame because he's looked good so far this year

Redden (not ready) - It was hard to watch him at times last night. Could barely move after half time. I did see him line up in the forard line at one stage in the 2nd qtr but he had 0 impact. Will get destroyed if he plays against Goldstein.

Side note

I'm so keen to see Colquhoun back into our side but he isn't quite ready. Watched him friday night and mark my words he will be in our best 22 by the end of the year, disposal is immense.

I'm also keen to see Krak but I'm not hearing the right stuff from coaching staff re his fitness to suggest he's ready yet. Mind you we did gamble on Redden, but look how that turned out

Moore looked good on friday but I'd like us to give him at least one more week to find fitness or we could have another Hartlett on our hands.

We'd win this game by 100 points if there were 22 Pittards. #TakeTheGameOn #RossFCSaysNoToChips #EspeciallySMAChips

Neade should have been dropped after round 1, he made multiple errors at times when he put himself into trouble which directly resulted in a goal from his turnover. Same shit this week plus his kicking is bad.

Out:Neade, Redden
In: someone, Lobbe

Also, imagine if Schultz was Butcher this week and the conversations this thread would be having about kicking.

OUT: Redden - Neade- Impey
IN: Lobbe - Young - O'Shea

Hopefully Lobbe comes up!

We have players that are fitter than Krak, we have Lobbe then Redden which means one plays when the other isn't playing. Silly.

Butcher forward, Trengove as 2nd ruck fixes that.

Trengove doesn't wanna play ruck.

Well Jackson, suck it up. You play for Port Adelaide, not for yourself.

Krakouer played an important role up forward in the Magpies' 66-point win over the Panthers, and made an impact with his slick ball movement, and near-perfect positioning and reading of the play.
He finished with 23 disposals, six clearances and five marks, while also getting his name on the scoresheet after booting two goals and setting up his fair share of majors as well.
One of those included using his pace to side-step his defender and handball to Tom Logan who finished off late in the final term.

But not fit enough...

Is there some limit to how long Krak can play for if there isn't a significant LTI on the list? Perhaps they don't want to upgrade him, get used to his ability, then have to send him back.

Thinking we need outside run rather than inside grunt this is what worries me about Young and Moore. A replacement for Impey like for like for structure. That narrows it down a little. Ok if Krakouer isn't fit enough sorry is Hoons knee 100% if the answer is yes what's Hoons fitness like? 3 k time trial suggested he's at Kane's level? Ok one run was against Goodwood but 2 competitive runs he has no problem finding the ball? How is he using it once he gets it? Did he miss a target against South? Is 2 more weeks going to add anything to Hoon that's not already there is he at any more risk of re injury in the AFL as opposed to the Sanfl?

Just putting it out there.
