i think chappy will play this wk, rooke wil cum back via the 2s. byrnes should go, just coz i hate him and he cant kick. thought varcoe struggled a bit 2day, but as usual, his defensive pressure is just awesome makin it hard 2 drop him.

king was ok. i am lost 4 changes nxt wk. id love 2 c hunt get back in, i really think he is a very very honest player, but who i want out of that side after byrnes becomes very hard 2 work out! what a great dilemma 2 have!

Bomber said after the match he wanted to play the 3 ruckman this week but the weather didnt allow it. he said he will be playing all 3 next week at the dome. So its not going to matter what we want , Blake will come in and King will stay.

Varcoe was an emergency today.
He got a game only because of the conditions being unsuitable for the "3 Rucks - Who sez it sux" experiment.
Byrnes however was named in the selected side.
Whilst Varcoe wasn't bad today, he did absolutely nothing to suggest that he should leapfrog Byrnes in the pecking order.

Blake will come in for sure.
The rest will depend on availability (Chapman, Rooke) but IMO Travis will be the first to go.
Maybe Hunt for the courageous DJ, too.
In my book Hunt gets far more ball and does a lot more with it.
He is a great anti-flood weapon with that pinpoint kicking.

Thats bullshit though. Do not play Ottens up forward. Look at the taps today.. Its ano-brainer to keep Ottens/Blake in the ruck.
agree , But Bombers has never cared about what the supporters want if he has something in mind like he has with this 3 ruck deal. He wants to do this, doesnt matter how much we disagree unfortunately

NAB needs to play espically he hasnt been amonst it last few weeks, now the top spot is sewned up, we need to get players who we think be in our finals lineup to play and get give them more time to regain some form(NAB) or fitness(Chappy).

What are you on about, Ottens will not go forward, after the Richmond game Blake will take Ottens role in the forward line :D

He setup a goal with slick hands. Laid a shepard that allowed Ling (i think) to have a kick at goal without getting pushed, not to mention constant forward line and up the ground pressure. He has class and looks much more likely to create when he gets his hands on the ball.

He didn't rack up the possesions that Byrnes did but he didn't have many less either. I'd leave him in the team ahead of Byrnes for next week.

If Ottens stays in the ruck all day I will be very happy.
If Blake is placed in the forward line at all I will be mortified.

Some perspective is needed - one of Blake's goals against Richmond was a good snap, but one was a handpass over the top. Anyone who thinks he is a marking option up forward is delusional. He's a ruckman and nothing else. Just like Ottens, and just like King.

Watch our defensive pressure - one of our strengths - crumble with a lumbering ruckman in our forward line. It will not work.

This is what I think the selectors will do.
IN - Blake and Chapman
Out- Byrnes and D.J.
Personally I would have the same Ins and have King out instead of Byrnes.

I think he might have been joking Partridge.

In to extended squad: Hunt, Blake, Chapman

I still can't find a way how 3 ruckmen would work, putting one permenantly up forward is silly, you get a forward to do a forward's job, not a bloody ruckman. I can only hope it's all smoke and mirrors and that 2 ruckmen in the side is the maximum come gameday.

ARGH!

Please send this post to Mark Thompson immediately. Either that or pray for torrential downpours for the next 7 weekends.

At times:

1. Ottens in ruck, King and Blake on bench (or one at FF)
2. King in ruck, Ottens at FF, Blake on bench
3. Blake in ruck, Ottens at FF, King on bench

You just need to remember that this isn't about finding a way to play three ruckman. It's about getting three ruckman in the physical condition and the form whereby they are all options to be used in September.

That makes perfect sense. But there's a far simpler solution, and one less detrimental to the team.

Play Ottens as first ruck in the seniors with one of King or Blake as backup. The other one plays a full game in the reserves and gets match fitness that way. Simple.

Conditioning against top class AFL ruckman is far better than beating up on skinny, has-been or hack VFL ruckmen.

Note the- :D

I was only joking, i wouldn't put Blake as a forward, ever!

And Ottens will fall over and die.

Can't afford run him into the ground at this stage of the year, and the upside of having 3 rucks is that he can have an easier week without being 'rested'. This way, you have Ottens doing more than he usually would, not ideal I wouldn't think.
