The only relevant comparison for Jacobs, is his output last year.

Have you got his stats for 2013 vs 2012?

I don't think it really matters at this stage. But if I had a gun to my head... If Thommo can find some sort of form leading into next season, I think that is of more benefit to the team.

With a rest and a good preseason, Thommo will get his mojo back next year.

Playing a few more meaningless games this year won't be a factor for him.

Why is that? I would have thought highlighting the quality of other rucks in the AFL is highly relevant.

And here are his stats comparisons (per game stats): http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/...2=2&pid2=1798&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=P&fopt2=2012

Averaging a couple of less disposals (nothing major), 1 less mark, same goals, slightly more tackles, 3.5 less hitouts, 2 less effective disposals (slightly less clangers though), similar contested marks, slightly more clearances, slightly more one percenters, and about 2% less TOG. The hitouts to advantage stat isn't there, but I think this is only down 1 or 2 per game.

And fair enough on Thommo, but I also don't mind if he plays out the season now either. I do hope Kerridge comes in before the end of the season though.

I hear you and agree Thompson should have a rest but sando thinks he is best 22 and that's our ethos. Always play best 22.
It doesn't need to be Thonpson that misses.

None of Petrenko, Porplyzia, Mackay are going to be part of our next midfield for instance.

Answer this, do you think the 'Mob' started making those accusations about Neil Craig less than 12 months into his tenure as senior coach?

If you answer yes, you have lost all creditability as you would be wrong./

If you answer no, you have lost all creditability as you don't know have a foot to stand on as you don't have any basis for an argument.

Les me state this again as an life time member of 'The Mob' - the criticism about Neil Craig only started after the 2009 season when he would refuse to adapt his game plan to suit the players he had. He refused to look at the future and ran the squad into the ground. He refused to play any of the next generation of players we had on the list and played players well past their prime; ending in results we saw in 2010 and 2011.

Now, if Sando does the same and it looks like he is planning on doing that, the same criticism will return and the acid will be placed on him. If we miss the finals next year and we are still playing a few player who can not compete in the AFL anymore and refuse to play a new breed of Crows players, you will see that same pressure from the Mob getting applied.

You do understand this concept of time right? It's only been 12 months, Sando deserves some time.

Still waiting Jack for your response.

If you think that Jacobs has had anywhere near the impact as last year, then you have not watched many games this year.

I don't give a flying frigg about your stats - here are some more relevant facts:

1. We have not usually dominated the clearances, including centre square - unlike last year.
2. Jacobs has not usually given our midfielders effective 1st use of the ball - unlike last year.
3. Jacobs can hardly jump or run for the majority of games - unlike last year.

Bottom line is Jacobs form ha been so poor no one in the media has talked about him being a chance for All Australian - unlike last year, when he went very close to being AA (& should have been IMO).

... but hey, keep deluding yourself that he is going all right & we will never make the finals if this is the form you accept from a quality player.

IMO, Jacobs has an injury (probably something like a hip) & we should be resting him for the rest of the season to get him right. Whether that means playing McKernan &/or Graham in the ruck, I don't really care, as long as we get our squad cherry ripe for round 1 next year.

Disagree mate - do we want Jacobs to be a middle of the road ruck, or do we demand that he performs at the level he's proven himself capable of?

We have enough players who have the odd brilliant year, and then fall back to the mean; we shouldn't allow Jacobs to be another one of them.

He's set a standard of excellence, we should hold him to it.

Can you not read properly? I clearly said Sauce hasn't had the same impact as last year, and that the club has admitted that. I thought he should have gone out after the last North game, but don't let your rant get in the way of facts. I was simply providing the stats to Kingy after he asked for them.

And yeah, resting him today would have been a great decision.

Nah fair enough, I was just highlighting that it's been a lean year for rucks. Smashed Goldy today though, it was definitely his best game of the season and a large part of why we won today. North are the best clearance team in the comp, and we managed to break even in that area today.

he did? nice vengeance he's historically gone down to him hard. Didn't get to catch the game in the USA only getting them by radio and am currently in a workshop that extends about 12 hours a day :P. Great to hear he can perform as I've not seen him beat out a quality opponent or compete well with one in a long time.
