Blatant DT question; Henderson on extended bench for any reason?
I probably wouldn't go in worry about him being named sub

Good to see Lyons drop out. I like what he offers the side, but he just can't run out games and his outside disposal is really iffy. Cue the Thommo haters to jump all over me and say that describes Thommo.
I like his work getting into the packs and getting a hand pass out, but his kicking seems slightly wonky and if he can't run out a full game then that's something he needs work on (and the club needs to help with).

just so wrong on so many levels :thumbsdown: ...... lets all be thankful you have no involvement with the club
Bullshit he is. How many times have you heard "he will play many games for the club" when he knows this isn't the case.
How about "we have a number of SANFL players playing well who will force there way in" at the same time dropping senior players and bringing them straight back in

Wayne, you're better than the shallow snipes - what exactly am I wrong about?

Pretty straight forward selections. After a game like the showdown where all played well its hard to just ommitt guys who didn't do anything wrong.

And that's our problem.

BACCS - I'm a Thommo lover, but that does describe him, doesn't it?

Who will benefit more from playing out the season - Thommo or Lyons?

Hey EC .....what happened to your boy Lyons ......didn't you say one of our highest possession winners an playing well

Didn't i say "pre-game" he would be subbed for Grigg ......and that he was running around unaccountable

Lyons has a LONG WAY to go .......think he can still be a good player ......but he aint the golden child portrayed on this board ;)
I think you deviated far from what has actually been said.
Firstly, Lyons was one of our highest possession winners before being subbed. We can argue over his disposal efficiency but our best mid over the last 5 years has dodgy disposal. He was good against Freo, he held Bartel and starred against Collingwood. He finished the game with ice on his groin, you predicted that did you?
Grigg should never have been sub again, agreeing with that suggests you liked Thommos 7 possessions to half time. Thommo should be rested.

But the most important thing you have seem to have misread is what we expect from Lyons. He's a junior, he's not going to come in and be a star. Crouch has but he is a star. The call to play Lyons was rewarding his very good form, to watch him develop and hopefully replace one of our senior underperforming players. The Crows have a history of keeping guys on their list who we haven't made a decision on after 5 years on the list.

And you seem to laying the boots into Lyon even though his month has been better than Thommos.

And it's no surprise BACCS likes your post liking a club decision. Good to see we haven't had to put up with the hysteria though.

Do not want Porps back in. Have the rest of the season off. Rest up, get better, have a good hard think about how the season has panned out and what needs to be done to turn it around next year.
Jaensch. Unless they are going to play him as a winger or HFF not in the team. Brown and Laird are doing a good job. Laird got a bit of a touch up, but will learn from it.
Shaw is an interesting one...is this a not too subtle poke to Otto to pull your finger out and stop falling over all the bloody time and defend. Its like Dougy has passed the power onto Andy. Would be surprised and would have rather seen Hartigan again.

So Sloane in for a clearly struggling Lyons. Big win.

Grigg never to be sub again and Thommo goes around again for another week.
Really don't see the point in playing him now. Like Porps his season should be pulled and get some games into the younger mids. His centre bounce work has been none too flash lately and he was on Boak for the last two centre bounces which just confirms we have no idea or leadership in the middle atm. Should have known Boak was the prime candidate for the taps and when Paps changed their rucks we should have as well. At least Smack can jump.

North are playing well atm and will be looking for revenge. Who is going to have the final 10 minute meltdown this week?

fact is every player deserving to play some AFL games has one so ......now the qty of games and timing may not have been to the liking of this board, BUT the club ALWAYS knows better than us when a player is ready

PLUS you can only have so many young players in a team at anytime :
Crouch ....likely 14 season games inc injury
Lyons ..... Currently 9 season games
Brown ..... Currently 17 season games
Kerridge ... Currently 8 season games
Laird .......... Currently 14 season games
Grigg .......... Currently 2 season games
Hartigan ....... Currently 1 season games

Don't care what people believe .... 7 first year players in a season ...and 4 playing most weeks is a positive for club development

Totally fair point and I agree with you. However and its only an assumption I think with Crouch, Grigg, Brown and Laird in the side, plus inexperienced Johnston maybe the selection committee feels the side is balanced enough with blooding youngsters and don't want to over do it when they clearly want to win games. I would suggest that Lyon and Kerridge will come into the side before the end of the year and Maybe Ellis-Yolmen

?

It's just the negativity, inferiority of Adelaide supporters (Adelaide based) .....and vitriol to all things AFC as got me down

I read other boards, in particular Essendon an the love, support, & unity for the club under current circumstances is admirable

US .....well we blame everything on the club .... every young player that plays a good game is destined to leave us (view of most posters) .....an no-one wants to come to poor ol Adelaide

FFS get over yourselves

You really comparing us to Essendon?

What their supporters will be united about are the players performing and their management so far not being bent over by the AFL.

But you are right, we should just have one big group hug, pat ourselves on the back for a job well done.

The argument falls down when you consider that the young, inexperienced players have consistently matched or exceeded the output of the established, senior players.

Seriously?

They can support the Club, but the people involved have likely allowed or encouraged systematic drug cheating to occur; anybody supporting Hird beyond giving him the benefit of the doubt is a blind sycophant.

They should be disgusted at what has been done to their Club.

I'm not one of those people?

Our admin has crippled us. Our coaching staff lack a consistent message and make constant poor decisions; and they frequently acknowledge those poor decisions - and then proceed to make them again.

I'm quite disillusioned with the Crows at present, but that'll pass, and it doesn't change my support for the players.

Well said.

Some of you too often have a massive go at the coach, the club and other supporters as soon as something doesn't go our way. Some of you even have massive cracks when players get selected and the clubs abused for not selecting them earlier. Not to mention the massive amount of all young players are treated poorly comments.

Some of you also seem to shoot supporters who can see the positives of the list or the positives out of experimenting with selections and positioning. The hatred of some players is beyond a joke as well Otten has been one of the best players in the side over the past few weeks yet some of you want him axed.

You claim its discussion but its not. not when you don't accept that others have views that disagree with yours in a civil manner.

Sometimes I even have to ask why some of you even go for the club when you clearly hate half the players, the selection staff and the way the club is run.

Kudos Wayne for having the guts to say something.

Agreed ....Dangerfield disposals early very shaky ......more consistent now
Lyons is not long kick, and whilst no-where as shaky has little hurt factor ......IMO a bit like Hawthorns Mitchell

Grigg should never have been sub again, agreeing with that suggests you liked Thommos 7 possessions to half time. Thommo should be rested.

Of course that's ok in fore-sight ......its often been discussed on this board and agreed to as a good way of gradually introducing young players to AFL
Now it's not ok  .....of course it is

I was the fist to say Thommo was a liability 12 weeks ago !!! .....certainly haven't change position on him

No i hope iam not laying the boots in .....i agree with what you have said ......however Lyon has not been as good as many believe ....and the senior players maligned not as bad as many believe

Sando has not had golden tickets ......just ask Johncock ....or is it selective gold tickets?

Grigg never to be sub again and Thommo goes around again for another week.
?
Huh? ......on the back of 2 qtrs of footy
You don't think Grigg will ever have bad games or be out of form? ......BIG BIG STATEMENT

It's been an entire season.

Except your exaggerating to try and prove your point.

I don't hate any of our players, at all. I think a few of them shouldn't be in the side, but that doesn't mean I hate them.

I think Otten should be dropped, and I have most of the year, because our backline structure is a mess with him in it. We're too slow, too clumsy, too lumbering.

I do hate the way the Club is ran - but I don't think I should have to choose another team to support because Trigg is a complete moron.

Paying members of most clubs and associations have a say in the running of it.

And (hard to believe) in some of them they even vote in the president and the board. Fancy that!

They're lucky the most accountability they've suffered so far is a few disgruntled members posting on a forum.

Without members, there is no club. Soon, a lot of paid up members won't care enough to write on a forum, and ergo won't care enough to put their hard earned into the club.

Then the club has REAL problems.

You left a bit out. It's every young player that plays a good game or 3 , has a down game and is dropped, while senior players are continually selected while not playing a single good game in the same 4 week period. Then when he maintains excellent form in the sanfl for the next 4 weeks, while the senior player still hasn't played a good game but keeps his spot in the team the young player is destined to leave the club.

not saying that ......but the loathing of all things AFL is IMO the worse of any supporter base ......and reflects the persona of the city of Adelaide

I think Grigg did enough to start against North!
absolutely ......has now two games to get a real feel .....had to have a full game ....but everyone have reasonable expectations of a 2 game player

No i hope I am not laying the boots in .....i agree with what you have said ......however Lyon has not been as good as many believe ....and the senior players maligned not as bad as many believe

Its certainly selective. Sando has always made it very difficult for Johncock to keep his spot in the side, or otherwise earn it back.

The likes of Thompson have been infallible regardless of form...but I guess its no surprise that a reigning and two time B&F has been given the benefit of the doubt.

Don't quite understand the Porplyzia, Mackay and Reilly love-in though. Although I thought Porplyzia's latter season form was much better than early on.
