Very happy with the selections. He is a smart coach Bevo.

His is showing faith in the list. He is saying, here is your chance Hvorat, unlucky with injury yet your chance to shine. Webb gets another chance as well. Both need to produce. Webb especially we need good ball use going forward.

We still have Dal, Bont, Picken and Jong as inside mid. They will need to be at there best this week. Koby a little stiff, yet his form has been average.

We are missing a lot of seniors (Libba, Wally, MaCrae, Suckling, Adams). This will test our list/depth. I think we can do it.

We are gonna need Clay and Stringer to play a lot of midfield minutes. But then I wonder where our goals will come from.

That's the issue for sure. But at this point we just don't have much else to do. Hope for a low scoring affair and/or that Boyd/Dickson with a mix of Dunkley/Jong/Hamling/Cordy/Picken is enough of a forward line to get it done. Looking at the second group of names...yeah it's not so convincing. But if Stringer is to play in the middle, not much else we can do.

Reckon Hrovat is playing for his career tomorrow.

Play well, and we renew his contract.

Play s**t, and well he's trade bait.

Either way it will be a fairly decent showcase of where he's at for us or other clubs interested.

Aside from the non inclusion of Minson
It's great to see the rat, Webb, Cordy and dunkley get more game time.

As for messers Jong. His not top 22 but I applaud the mc investing game time in a kid who has all the necessary attributes to become a unique quality player.

It is easy to bag a player. It doesn't add anything to the board. Any fool can do that. What would be interesting and useful is identifying specific areas a player needs to improve in.

I believe if posters focused their insights to identify these areas of improvement we would all get far more out of our involvement on BF.

Think people are missing the big issue here that it is not that we don't have goal kickers - Toyd, Dahl, Dickson, Smith, Stringer, Bont are all capable of kicking multiple goals, then along with midfielders kicking a few allows for a healthy score. Remember we are the number 1 side for forward entries. Our problem is the way we kick into our forward line. We are either bombing in long (with Biggs being one of the main culprits) or kicking into a congested forward line with both styles assisting the opposition to defend. Just gotta get smarter, as on the odd occasion we do kick to a player on a lead inside an open forward line we really do look like a top 4 side. Then it doesn't matter how big oppositions bodies are or how tall they are.

norf thread talking about which of their players are going to line up Stringer's injured shoulder...classy...

Did you miss where they want one of their players to seriously injure Bont?

Hrovat getting fattened up for market?

Koby had a pretty bad game last week and probably deserved getting dropped when Webb and Hrovat's form demanded they come in. Surprised Adcock got dropped. Thought Jong would have been the other player.

You are spot on here and Hunter is another culprit of just bombing up high into fwd 50 to our outnumbered forwards which is costly as he wins so much of the ball. We are just basically giving the ball back to the opposition. We need to be better at either kicking to our forwards advantage or choosing another option like lowering the eyes or handballing to draw out defenders.

Rather Hunter bomb it high than be taking shots on goal.

As much as I like his field kicking and the way he get's into space, he shouldn't be allowed past the defensive half.

Not unlike talking about targeting Goldstein's hips. Don't play that card honey. :kissingheart:

Don't worry petal. The only time Goldstein's hips will be targeted is if he ends up in a conga line (most likely on mad monday after week one of the finals, not that we'll do any better).

Some of the stuff on your board is ridiculous and over the top btw. Not sure where it all stems from....

Ever compared Jong's career stats to Clay Smith's? They are surprisingly similar, yet one is a whipping boy and the other a favoured son.

Perceptions can vary greatly.

Isn't it just Mattdougie that hates Jong?

For mine Jong is fine. He's a handy to good depth player, plays his role well most weeks, other weeks not so much...pretty standard for a depth/fringe player.
