I agree that neither had a huge influence, but isn't this the point of a small forward?
Kicking scrubber goals off the deck from 5 meters out is nice but it also doesn't prove much. Especially if they haven't contributed much else throughout the game.

I don't think your opinions are all wrong. You said you would drop Langford but didn't elaborate in that post.

Having thought it about it some more it looked to me like Langford didn't have the fitness/pace to keep up, even though he was fresh. I don't mind if he gets some fitness and form in the VFL by playing full games.
I don't want to stir things up again. He wouldn't have come close to my round 1 team. I'd put it back on you to say 'what's he done to warrant selection?' because to me he showed very little in pre-season.

I'm actually looking forward to him playing in the VFL and seeing him master his craft there and earn his spot though.

I sense we are trying out youngsters atmo, with Picket, May, etc, out for the first month.

A good opportunity to test them out early, with a look thru the magnifying glass.

The brains trust know we are a little ways off the best, right now.
Brains and trust are two words not to be used in the same sentence when discussing MFC.

Angry react is at Petty being anywhere near the forward line again.

Don't rate Disco at all, but he's a better back than forward.
I would give him ago down back in place of our house maid.
Lever-n-Kitchen... clean up is all he's good for, after he's made a mess.

... seriously we're missing Maysie, and McVee down there. Pettty and Tmc are doing good so far.

But our team-defence went out the window this week, with our players under serious pressure around the middle of the ground... this then transferred to our backs.

This imo, is a product of our years of playing safe-footy along the boundary line. Long, high, slow, within 5 Mtrs of the boundary.

None of our forwards know how to set up the forward-line, so we can lead at the ball carrier... after years of defensive footy.
It will take us some time to learn how to play regular footy again, IMO.?
