One thing though. Is it really competitive for spots in that position? Weid was absent when he got his chance and Pedersen, as it has been pointed out to me many times on this board, is not in contention, despite outplaying all of them.

If Smith has been dropped and Pedersen comes in, my levels of confusion will raise and I will stop accepting the 'oh we know what we get with Pedersen and he isn't part of our future so we aren't playing him even though he's better' argument.

Could be a case of we want to play finals. We know what we get with Pederson. The young blokes get their chance to steal his spot for the first half of the season. Now he gets his shot.

Its a win-win.

We find out who's deserving of a spot come finals time (touch wood) and old man Pedo is reasonably fresh after not playing seniors for half a year.

I think it's a case of the young blokes get first crack and only if they then don't take that opportunity will Pedersen get a chance. But in a normal head-to-head scenario then Pedersen is automatically the last one considered as they don't see him as part of the future.

Small taining snippet via my sis who attended today. Angus was in the rehab group with Hannan and Melks so hopefully he gets up. Looked to be a calf problem as previous poster has alluded to. Not sure Hannan will be OK, looked proppy. Appears that Smith and Pedo will be the inclusions and she couldn't believe what an athlete TMac looked above everyone else. Trained the house down...not sure what affect it actually had on local dwelling sub floors and slab foundations.

Jeffy looked very apathetic out there and she couldn't see how he would get a game soon with that attitude. Pedo trained with the forwards, Smith with the backs...all as expected. Lever rocked up and hobbled around out there with the boys for a while providing some good feedback it seemed. Melks moving just fine, should be A OK to play. Hannan got better and better as the session went on. The sausage sizzle was a winner even in the driving rain.

Certainly doesn't look good that we are doing all we can to get Hannan up when Jeff is healthy and available. If you can't put extra effort in now when there's a potential spot up for grabs, then when.... For my mind he always looked to be a little apathetic when he played, just his laconic nature and hence going missing for large chunks of games. Thing is she said it really stood out how little he was putting into the session. Not a good sign.
Pick 60 you say....only if he shaves that beard.
