Changes vs Pies

Pending Casey form, one or two MAX.

Jamar won't be ready, Blease may knock say Evans out of the team, If Bartram is available I would have him replace Evans.

My team assuming Bartram comes up.

Sylvia only suffered a corkie so I assume he will be right to play, otherwise bring give Blease a taste, pending Casey form.

Warnock MIGHT come in to deal with one of Dawes or Cloke, despite my preference of him not playing, he could definitely match one of them for strength.

B: Bartram Frawley Macdonald
HB:Strauss Rivers Jones
C:Scully Sylvia Gysberts
HF: Howe Watts Jetta
F: Jurrah Green Bennell
R: Martin Moloney Trengove
INT: Gawn Mckenzie Morton
Sub: Nicholson

IN: Bartram
OUT: Evans

Nicholson is unlucky to be the sub ... AGAIN... but IMO he looks to be a great impact player, speed, penetrating kick (not wayward as of yet) and hard at it.... and also I don't know who else should be there.

Bennell? No, he has x-factor, speed, and class... we need him to take on the Pies.

Jetta? Doesn't strike me as a great impact player, needs to spend more time in the midfield as his evasiveness around congestion and tackling are fantastic.

Howe? Presented too good a link option IMO.

Reasoning:

- Bartram picks himself, he will be needed for a job on Krakeour or Sidebottom IMO
- Evans, has had less impact since his first game, he is hard at it but a bit one-dimensional atm... needs to work on adding a few strings to his bow at Casey

The question mark:

- Warnock, he may well be needed for Cloke or Dawes.

Matchups:

DEF:
Frawley vs Cloke - KPD for KPF
Rivers vs Dawes - KPD for KPF
Bartram vs Krakeour - Best small defender for best small forward
Strauss vs Sidebottom/Beams - Players who won't have a strength edge on him, he held Jetta and Zaharakis well.
Macdonald vs McCarthy - only other 'marking option'
Jones vs Sidebottom/Beams - make them accountable through the middle of the ground

MID:
Trengove head to head with Pendlebury - In fantastic form, hard at it, make Pendlebury accountable
Mckenzie to Thomas - Tackling machine, will match Thomas for intensity and physicality

FOR:
Bennell to Davis - Has the speed to go with him, and the ability to damage greatly, Davis isn't the most accountable of defenders.
Howe to Shaw - Just to make him more accountable and test him aerially...

I think Maxwell will go to Green.

Gawn to take a bigger ruck role so Stef can go back a bit more? With Leigh Brown floating up forward along with Dawes & Cloke they aren't short on big blokes. Cam Wood aint the best ruck going round so it'd be a good chance for Gawn.

Jurrah will need to up his workrate immensely for this game. Gotta make each defender accountable too, the only time they seem to falter a bit is when they each are taken 1-on-1

Yeh, a good point.

Martin could easily compete with a Cloke or Dawes, on the lead and for strength!

That is a great idea, and a preferable one to Warnock.

I'd feel pretty comfortable about Rivers on Brown for example.

Gawn is probably pretty similar irt size to Wood as well.

I was also contemplating that if Bartram is unavailable, Warnock should come in for Evans due to the height of the Pies... but I wasn't sure of the reception it would get.

A big no to Warnock. Joel Macdonald can play the third tall and, as he showed last year, is capable of playing on Cloke. Warnock is too much of a risk, especially on the big stage.

Bartram is essential to our 22 and you would think that someone like Nicholson would miss unless Sylvia can't get up for the game. Apart from that we don't need to make any other changes.

Never mention that name again!

In: Bartram, Petterd

Out: Strauss, Jetta

Bartram v Thomas
Bennell v Krakouer
Rivers v Dawes
MacDonald v Cloke
Frawley v Didak
McKenzie v Pendlebury

Personally I'd be trying to get a Petterd match up on Davis or Shaw, 2 players who aren't strong overhead, similar to the Johncock match up against Adelaide. I think this game would suit Petterd.

Jurrah to do a similar job against Maxwell as he did on Fletcher.

I would like to see Evans keep his spot but the fact that we have no crumbing forwards will probably get Jetta over the line.

Would rather have Shane Valenti playing fullback than Warnock.

Bartram may come in, for Strauss or Evans, even though both were impressive last night. I wouldn't be that upset if Barty came back through Casey. Been good this year but I would be loathe to make any changes from last night's young and exciting 22.

While I'd normally agree with you, I'd like to see Bartram come back in to the side as his experience, hardness and consistency would be invaluable against the Pies. Evans and Strauss have done nothing wrong but one, probably Evans, would miss I reckon.

I honestly don't know who to suggest for ins and outs. If Bartram gets the all clear then I guess he is in but I really want to see Nicholson string some games together - love his run and conviction.

IN: Bartram

OUT: Evans (unlucky)

...seems to be the trend atm

Dunn is the only variable I think but he's probably against it atm.

The only reason I'm mentioning Warnock is the strength factor of the Collingwood forwards, and you want to dump Strauss after one fairly good game?

That's a bit harsh.

Harsh on Jetta also I would've thought.

There's no dropping Jetta or Bennell this week, anyone in that camp can **** off :)

They cop it so ****ing easily around here, they played amazingly on Friday.

Yeah, they both had really good patches and were more consistent than they have previously been, without being outstanding. Definitely no basis to drop either of them.

I've noticed over the last few weeks that Jetta is one of our hardest nuts, does great sheparding/body work off the ball for his team mates - does it better (or more often at least) than anyone else in our team.

I think the form Thomas is in warrants bringing in a tagger and Bartram is the man for the job if he's fit. Evans makes way for him, besides that I'd leave things as is. Probably give Nicholson a full game and bring Strauss on as the sub.

If daisy plays I will blow up the MRP...

If daisy plays I will blow up the MRP...

Yep. Just smacked a bloke in the gob whilst he was down, wasn't in play, just stupidity. Unlike other incidents this year, he deserves 1 week minimum.

before. They'll be without Swan, Jolly and probably Thomas (although with the MRP, you can never be sure )

Play McDonald then, Warnock should never play a game again.

Strauss plays a similar role to Bartram, made a few mistakes under pressure, I still think he needs to work on his composure before he gets a game ahead of Bartram and I would prefer Nicholson.

The more I think about it the more I think Jetta will be a certainty to play which means Evans will miss out.

Chances are that only Bartram will come in for either Evans, Strauss or Nicholson but I think they should seriously consider a player like Petterd due to match up purposes.

I don't think you see what I am getting at.

Cloke and Dawes are two real 'gorilla' forwards.

How would bringing in a 90 kilo first gamer nullify them?

Warnock has the strength to go with the 'gorillas', that's why I think he will come into consideration.

I'm not sure Rivers has the strength to go with one of them, Joel Macdonald may be an option though.
