Out: Brown, Thomas, Greenwood

Brown - To my eyes he really hasn't done a whole lot in the games he's played.. doesn't seem to offer a lot. Granted he started well, but his decision making was poor.

Thomas - Been living off last year's goal tally a little bit this year but has struggled with the new forwardline set up. Probably needs a run in the twos.

Greenwood - No tag? No play. He was a non contributor all day, bombing long with no thought.

In: Sier, Elliott, Wells

Sier - We have missed his size and work in the contest. Don't know why he hasn't been playing but I think we're a better team having him in the squad.

Elliott - What a great opportunity to see the full strength forwardline in action against a port team who I think we can expose with our versatility. Elliott, WHE, DeGoey, Stephenson... the Hydra of forwardlines.

Wells - Let's not wait any longer to see if this bloke can contribute. Port, Carlton, Saints... all average to poor football sides that can provide Wells with the opportunity to run into form and carve out a spot for himself.

Ones to Watch: Beams (didn't think he offered a lot today, but this is going to happen more often than not with this crowded midfield setup.. someone's going to be quiet most weeks) and Varcoe (looked all out of sorts today but I still think he's a.crucjal part of our most effective lineup at the mo)

Reckon it'll be Aish for Greenwood and Elliott for Thomas. Best team we will have had on the park all year if that's the case
I reckon it will be Varcoe who makes way for Elliott. Both Varcoe and Thomas had bad games, but Varcoe's was a lot further from being good as he just kept being beaten in contests or fumbed. Thomas at least got himself into good positions and was clean with his ball handling before he stuffed up.

They'll probably throw Ryder forward for chunks like they did against us last season. Before our 8 goal final quarter blitz, I remember he was a real game changer for Port when the game was in the balance. Appropriate match-up for Roughead.
I think Moore would be a better match up for him as I don’t think Roughead has the athleticism tp go with Ryder.

I thought Thomas got more of it and made better positions, but also made much worse decisions all game. The goal was great. But the choice to take on Saad of all people for pace? Twice? He really let the Bombers back into it by allowing himself to be caught HTB in a few momentum-shifting moments when we should have been away.

Varcs was definitely quiet and uncharacteristically fumbly, but he still set up Stevo for a crucial goal in the third with an insanely clean crumb. That's the sort of thing he can do that nobody else in our side can. We saw how uninspired our groundwork was in the forward line during the one game he missed against the Eagles.

It's a tough call, but I think I'd be dropping Thomas before Varcoe. Especially if it's for Elliott. I think Varcs offers a point of difference that no one else can provide.

Varcoe doesn’t do enough but his pressure is enough to stay in the side for at least one more week. Thomas hits the scoreboard every week and but for inaccuracy would have been a multiple goal kicker again. He must stay.

In Elliott aish
Out Greenwood brown.

For me Varcoe would go out before Thomas. Though both need to make the most of their opportunities, which they didn't do today.

In: Aish, Elliott
Out: Brown, Greenwood.

Wells would need at least a month of footy in the VFL before he could be considered, particularly given how rusty WHE looked today.
Varcoe cannot go.
Our team is as slow as Christmas..
Need more foot speed

He had 6 tackles today.
You missed the point.
His 'manic ' pressure hasn't resulted in real benefits for the team. He can get the ball, can't win the ball through his pressure and can't hit the scoreboard.
He's in the mix with about 7 others competing for the last 3 or 4 spots and clearly needs to lift.

I would like to see Sier come in. While JDG is great when thrown in the middle, I’d rather have the opposition backline panic with him playing forward. Sier can get it out.

What the hell is going on with him? He used to be a 28 possession/2 goal explosive midfielder. Now he looks like an also-ran.
Sorry, your eyes are deceiving you. Stats aren't everything but Beams has a career avg of 25.66 disposals and 0.99 goals per game. 2019 sees him averaging 27.8 disposals and 3 goals in 5 games. So call him a goal or two short on his career avg. In what is likely a different role.

Modern midfielders don't get close to averaging 2 goals per game. There are only 9 current AFL players who average 2 or more goals a game. And they certainly aint mids.

Fair enough -- the stats are useful. But I do feel like his impact has been less than I expected. Maybe I just remember 2010 through rose-coloured glasses.

Out - Greenwood Brown

In - Aish Elliot
Yep, this.

I've given up on hoping Langdon and Phillips get dropped because it'll never happen. So yeah, Greenwood and Brown out for Elliott and Aish seems about right.

Can't wait to finally see our full strength forward line in action.
