i found the montgomery preview interesting and i'm surprised nobody's mentioned this but he threw out a huge hint that Stringer will develop his game a bit in the next couple months. Huge hint he'll sit in on more stoppages in this game.

It's something he's done a bit of this year not to much effect, but if he gets good at it it'll be a huge weapon.

People shouldn't scare themselves to think that "we're turning him into a midfielder". We're simply expanding his ability to pinch hit in there. You don't take goal sense like his out of the forward line for too long at a time

I think he has played mostly permanent forward over the last few weeks due to injury. I hope he is fit and fresh.

Guys I reckon the Adelaide Oval is going to play right into our laps tomorrow night. Our game is all about energy and pressure. Our boys with some new recruits, 40,000 screaming fans, and real (open-roof) night game, hell even throw in the tear up our tarps song will have us so fired up!

Clear eyes, full hearts!

We play a great team game. Apart from perhaps Wood and Picken who would be leading our BF, the load is shared pretty evenly.

I think we can cover both Picko and Bonti. Crammers and Stringer can both rotate through the midfield - although the latter should stay within 40 all the time imo

say i'm going early all you like, but i love our 2014 draft class.

One oozes class with a brilliant kick. Half back, half forward, wing or inside mid.

Another is a perfect winger. Fast, fit with love skills.

Another is half forward and wing, great leap, exquisite kick and runs well in congestion, will one day be able to sit in on stoppages as he did as a junior.

The 2014 off season put a lot of skill in our future contender side.

I agree Tommycash they do have poise and skill, but even Murphy and Gia
both recruited at 68 kg took one and two years respectively to make
their debuts. Hindsight makes drafting easy, i think Cory Gregson from
Geelong has been one of the best draftees to date and he went pick
47 was also South Australian as i said though hindsight is easy.
To be honest, I don't really get what you are trying to say here. That we continually are having players debut in their first year and play good football is a good thing in my eyes.

PA flip the ball around really well and run hard to advantage if allowed. To stop this, we have to smother them. That means winning the ball at the centre bounces and at stoppages, and applying defensive pressure all over the ground when they have the ball. We have to work our butts off to help one another; anything less and we will get exposed on the outside. Picken is a big loss. We have picked a quicker team to help combat this, but it will all be for nothing if we can't get our hands on the ball and are chasing tail all day.

The Men of Mayhem have to turn up again I reckon Metal. Manic pressure at the ball with a very aggressive press to make Port rush their possessions. When we get this right the very best sides have struggled and turned the ball over. When the Men of Mayhem don't show up, we get killed - really killed.

What was his old man like as a footballer?
Was about 6 foot chf built like a brick shithouse, good footballer at the level he played at with stints at dandenong sth ,keysborough and roc fc,he could kick it a mile but more importantly was the most popular player at the club I played at.

Agree Tommycash 100%, the point i was trying to make was maybe
the current age profile of our list is lending itself to the early debut
of players along with injuries to key personnel. I did not expect to see
three 1st year players in by round ten, but that's the way the cookie
crumbles. Sorry if i didn't express my opinion well it was not meant
as a negative at all.

Your user name reminded me of this clip(hope you enjoy).
Its how one of us will feel after the game.
Looking forward to seeing the Bullies live and congrats on your rise. Much respect.
To any of you coming over I think you won't regret the experience.
The Game Day Village will be welcoming. Its a Port initiative just outside AO's Southern gate.
$5 coopers and good atmosphere. Food as well. Join us on the March you will be welcome.
Here's to a good game and all the best for the year

So bevs confirmed that Roughead will play more forward ruck going forward. Still open to sending him back if need be. Would love him to have a big game and kick 4 or 5 would be so good for his confidence playing in a new position.

I've gotten angry at the suggestion over the last 18 months but he's been so good where ever he's gone this year i'm fine with it. And Talia, Hamling, Roberts and Morris can shoulder the load till season's end.

It makes me a lot more comfortable with our ruck stocks now as i see Campbell long term taking over Minsons role as the wrestle 'em ruck while Roughy can be the jumpy one.

Now that's a good Bulldog pedigree.
All the best Toby.
Great presentation by Crofty, too... one of my favourite players of his time.

Means we always have a long bail out option to either mark the ball or bring it to ground

I think the drink is a real smart operator.

He obviously has the opinion that we have no chance of pressing for a flag this year that's no surprise in my eyes and most supporters we are well ahead of expectations.

I think his mindset is do I play the my best team each week and push for the bottom rungs of the Eight or do I get 5 to 10 games into most of the class of 2014 (draft) and see if blokes like Cordy, Grant, Roberts and company can play and possibly miss the Eight as a result. I think the answer is the latter he is using this season to have us much better placed from 2016 onwards for attack on the flag.

I would say at this stage Cordy is a no going forward and Roberts and Grant are a yes.

Agree, loved Crofty

I wonder what he is up to these days?
He is a qualified surveyor, or was when he left the club. May have gone on to other things. I believe he must still live in the Mildura area, Murph thanked him for "coming down".
