Changes Vs Port Adelaide

I'd play Thomas before Campbell, and I'd play Green instead of Hansen. Sansbury would be great if we played Carlton every week. But since we don't - he's gone.

Yep, agree with thoughts re Sansbury. I would even consider Campbell and Thomas in for Hansen and Sansbury (ie no Green). But Green will have a job to do on P Burgoyne I expect.

I doubt they will drop Ed due to Port's running ability and speed. I do think we will add some pace via either LT or Flash. I have a feeling Scotty McMahon may be the unlucky one to go.

I loved the Sunday Mail here stating that the only change would be Brown in for Hansen. Would be a cruel joke if it was true.

hows the shit they come up with in the adelaide papers here! WOW!

firstly about our game plan if we are getting done we throw jones into our backhalf as a link man?????

maybe we did that in the geelong game cos he was doing **** all that day but hes been our leading goal scorer!

i jus hope choco reads the papers and makes a game plan that will suit all this bullshit that is pressed cos its not even close its funny

I did love the sunday mails summary of our gameplan of using Boomer off the HBF. Said our plan B left us looking ordinary and wobbily as the Cats exposed us. Turn over the page to read about the Roos great win over the Hawks and the way Harvey played and was used made the garbage on the previous page seem to be a waste of space. :thumbsu:

We can be accused of many things in South Oz, but quality journalism is not one.

ok amazing how the name "Harding" hasnt come up as a crumber.

more experience than campbell and thomas and has been preforming well.

IN: Harding, Green
OUT: Sansbury, Hansen

Mabye no need for one of the changes but eddie needs 2 go IMO

Did you see the game on the weekend? Harding cant use the football. He was under no pressure several times and coughed up the ball. Thomas kicked goals and is a much better option.

Harding has only played a few games in the seniors after coming back from a knee. Hopefully they wont play him.

My thoughts.

Out: Hansen and Sansbury
In: Campbell and Green

Hansen was too far off the mark last week to be risked again. Let him aim for a big step next season.
Sansbury has been rubbish last two weeks after a promising imporovement.
Campbell adds a goal kicking option and played well last saturday.
Green adds an extra defensive option.

Defensive option vs PA is crucial. Shutting thier running game down is half the battle. Without that goalkicking option which Hansen ain't is where we'll come down to over-relying on the usual suspects to pitch in. Brown OR Harding are the only solutions to cover for CJ. I'm thinking either may get the call up (as an ext bench) instead of Thomas/Campbell. Sansbury is a tricky one. Eddie can run the game out moreso than Campbell & Thomas and really, that's the reason he'll be kept in.

In: Green
Out: Hansen

We have Billy McMahon, Petrie & Edwards as the pivotal GO-to set shot goalkickers with Shagga & Boomer to mop up the running goal oppoortunities. Just wonder if the Link-man gameplan will work with such a defensive (hopefully) MAN on Man match ups instead of the risky defensive zone?

As shit as Sansbury was in the two finals so far, Port at AAMI is his type of game I feel. He will get to run forward of the ball and if we can win our share of clearances, he will cause some damage. I would leave him in for his last chance this week.

Out: Hansen
In: Brown (also last chance + a chance to increase his trade value)

In: Thomas - played in the SANFL and knows the ground;
OUT: Hansen - Did ok but didn't show any marking ability which would be his main advantage

Green has been spoken about a lot but the simple fact is he is too slow to tag a Burgoyne and he doesn't have the ball winning ability to influence the contest.

The reason we beat the Hawks was that we dispensed with an overly defensive approach and backed our guys to win the ball themselves. Guess what, we won.

I would carry that into this week with Thomas, Campbell or Whyman there to place pressure on someone like Burgoyne if he runs out of defence.

I'd play Thomas before Campbell, and I'd play Green instead of Hansen. Sansbury would be great if we played Carlton every week. But since we don't - he's gone.

I think these are good suggestions, Green has the experience that Hansen lacks, he will be well rested and one would hope hungry to prove his worth. Flash is fantastic however LT has demonstrated an unremitting determination to get to the contest, even where he is much smaller and much lighter than his opponent IMO he has more mongrel in him than Flash. That said I think playing both would be sensational but i would not know who else to drop at the mo.

Next year Big Thommo, Little Thommo, Azza, Flash, Jones and Shagga in the forward line???

Drop Sansbury for Thomas or Campbell?

Come on, at least Sansbury gives one good game per 4 (on average, this year). Every single time Campbell and Thomas have been played, they have not been up to AFL standard. Why does it take the wise head that is myself to tap you on the shoulder and say "no, 10 goals 19 is not a good return for a year", or "no, chasing shirts inside our forward 50 does not validate selection" or "no, 4 possessions a game is sh*t, don't care what he might be one day" or "HEY tell me one thing that Thomas and Campbell can do that Sansbury can't (or Harding, hell, or at this stage even fricken Shane Clayton for that matter)?"

We have the 3 best AFL umpires for our game this week, Vozzo, Kennedy and Rosebury.

Very happy about that :thumbsu:

I am actually really worried about the umpires, against the Cats they rolled us against the Hawks we got the best run all season  How inclined do people think the umpires would be to favour Port in teh event Gee Long win on Friday night? Pretext being that they might think Port will be more entertaining as an opponent in a Grand Final....i know i know i can hear the X Files theme music now, its a pre lim I am anxious :p

Need a level head for a game such as this so:

Out: Hansen (many finals to come young lad)
In: Green (Level Head)

If Sansbury gets the chop for some pretty bad turnovers and decisions last week...well roll in the SANFL raised Thomas to perform:thumbsu:

No change. I'd like Hansen get another run. If he did miss, I could only see Kasey Green coming in. I think Dean's "men against boys" comment after the Geelong game means they're not looking at Thomas or Campbell and Leigh Brown has surely run out of chances.

I think we need Campbell or Thomas' pace in the forward line this week against Port.
Cant see a spot for Hansen in the matchups.

Green is unlucky as he could be useful as a tagger, but I think Sansbury's pace could be a factor and therefore should be retained.
Brown should definately not come back in. He wouldnt have gotten a game last weekend as Tassie is out of the VFL so I cant see Laids bringing him back in anyway. He is unfit as it is.

In: Thomas
Out: Hansen

Surely?!?! If Leigh Brwon gets another game... I will eat may face (or attempt to). He is absolutely useless, word on Freo board that they think he should return to Fremantle. I agree, provided we get something half-decent out of it :thumbsu:

This week:

Out: Hansen
In:Green

Finals experience imperitive imo, especailly if we are to beat Port this week. No room for inexperienced campaigners, even though I thought Hansen did his job OK last week.

Lachy will be better for the run, hadn't played for a long time and was in many respects a stupid decision to play in the first place, now that we have gone with him must play him out of the square and use him. He made so many unsuccessful leads against Hawthorn it was shocking, i felt really sorry for him. But he persisted and got involved and never ran out of gas.

I say he is the clone of one Chad Cornes and should go to him and play the game of his life.

Come on Lachy you can do it!!!

No change, green will be useless against them, is a liability with the ball and has questionable decision making.

Come on you roosssss

Are you for real Fles? Not only did he play well on Saturday night but he also was one of the few who was composed and did well against Geelong. The guy's leap, football smarts, agility, defensive pressure when up forward and hair style will ensure he plays. Actually, there is a bit of Peter Jonas in McMahon's hair. Isnt he South Australian? He'll dominate on Saturday and he wont be dropped.

Hansen out, Campbell in.

From Woodville, I believe.

Look, I could be wrong on this, but I'm not sure Fles was necessarily calling for Scotty's head himself, just remarking that he could be the ("unlucky") one that gets ommitted.

As I said, I could be wrong. And if I am then I agree, it's crazy talk.

Cos' I'm with you all the way, ESL. Watching the replay today gave me a far greater appreciation of Scotty's game on Saturday night. He was excellent. There is no way in hell I would be dropping him. Just no fcuking way. His defensive pressure was superb against the Dawks. He chased his ass off and really harrassed the shit out of them. Excellent to see. Aside from that, he continues to present like a champ. Can play (well) Forward or Back. Has to stay.

On a side note, I also loved seeing him come in hard when Boomer was getting roughed up.

And, yep, his hair is superfly.

IN: Green & Campbell
OUT: Hansen & Sandsbury

If Sandsbury is not dropped this week, we are not fairdinkum.......I would love to see Hansen get another game, but I think Greens toughness and tagging abilities would be handy against Port...!
