What happened to Hill? Must of missed when he got injured. Was it when that Richmond player's head went head on into his leg? If thats just a corkie then he could be back.

yep i hope they dont play him next week.
it isnt worth the risk

What's the risk if it was a corkie?
Seriously this kid is the cream on our rapidly deflating cake at the moment, his run and long kicking is beautiful to watch but his defensive work is making a massive difference. When he went off Tambling cut us to pieces with run out of our forward line. Hill had been guarding him like a sheep dog before that.
Of course if he has the type of injury that requires rest then don't play him but don't rest him, we don't have that luxury.

The risk with a corkie is certainly there. Reduced muscle flexibility could lead to a tear if its put under game type stress. Many people who come back from corkies too fast still feel them a LONG time after.

The manner in which he copped it could also have caused some bruising/impact strain to the knee/hip.

Even if its just a slight cork, which it wasn't, its the right time to rest him. He was always going to need it at some stage this year, now is as good as time as any. Bring him back after Geelong, later if needed. It won't dull the bright spot he's been for us, whereas playing him in to the ground risks too much.

Lets get a look at Pearce, Walters or maybe even Hall for a couple of weeks. Pratt didn't suck, he's worth another look too.

On another note, both Dodd and Grover are not up to AFL standard for a top 8 team, but they're both in our top 22, easily. We need to be developing replacements but right now they both have to play.

i dont care who they play as long as gilmore doesnt get a run i'll be happy.... worst footballer of any code of all time

correct me if im wrong, but didnt broughton get injured at one point during the game? he might end up having to miss next week, if so that would be a real shame as he was fantastic last night

i would rest hill anyway, i mean it was only a corkie but still as good as he is, it cant hurt to rest him..... we all better brace ourselves for an almighty thumping against port next week.

headland will be out for a while, the guy showed that he can still play last night, but his body is giving in to soft tissue injuries, showing signs of ageing, might not be far from the end for des

what is actually wrong with mcpharlin? was it ribs?

id bring in ballantyne if fit, clarke, pearce and possibly bradley..... GILMORE GTFO OF OUR LIST!!!!!

Personally I think Balla's will struggle to get up, very nasty cork right on his calf. His best weapon is his speed, if thats affected in the slightest let him get that right.

There is no rush.

In : Pearce, Hinkley, Clarke

Out : Hill, Dodd, Headland

He came back on in the last, so he should be right to play.

Agree :thumbsu:

He was injured in a marking contest with Foster in the second and then came of with an ankle injury in the last.

Out: members of the Dumb-Arse Brigade
In: anyone BUT members of the Dumb-Arse Brigade

FYI (IMO) the Dumb-Arse Brigade consists of these players:
  • Head
  • Gilmore
  • Murphy
  • Kep - better than the average Dumb-Arse, but a Dumb-Arse all the same
  • Thornton (improved from member first-class to borderline member)
  • Dodd (is borderline member simply because he does do some excellent defensive work, but really his decision making at times is pure Dumb-Arse first-class)
  • Browne (harsh - but even when he's fit he's pretty much one as well...)
  • Sadly I think Grover is looking like he might soon be added to the list... :(

Let's look at who will not be available:
No Palmer (22)
No Des (22)
No Brock
No Crowley (22)
Probably no Ballantyne (prob best 22)
No Mayne (22)
No Kep
No Hill (22)
No Browne
No Roger (22)
No VB

Who's not ready:
Bucovaz
Hall
Ruffles
Sibosado
Connelly
Shepheard
Walters (borderline)
Clarke (borderline)
Pearce (borderline)

Leaves us these players to pick from:
  1. Schammer
  2. Hase
  3. Ibbo
  4. Solly
  5. Peake
  6. Suban - 1st year player
  7. Drum - ?? is he up to it
  8. Pratt - upgraded rookie - 2nd year player
  9. Grover - borderline DAB
  10. Mundy
  11. McPharlin - out of form
  12. Hinkley - 2nd year player
  13. Taz
  14. Foster - ?? how did he pull up??
  15. Thornton - DAB
  16. Kiwi - no good
  17. Dodd - DAB
  18. Gilmore - DAB
  19. Murphy - DAB
  20. Pav
  21. Sandi
  22. Johnson
  23. deBoer - upgraded rookie - 1st year player
  24. Duff
  25. Head - DAB
  26. Broughton - upgraded rookie - 1st year player
  27. Walters (borderline)
  28. Clarke (borderline)
  29. Pearce (borderline - needs to be upgraded from rookie list to play)

Not much to pick from when you look at it. Whole lotta Dumb-Arses and under-developed and inexperienced youngsters.... :(

Muprh has been pulled from Souths for tomorrow's Derby.

Expect him to play next week.

I'd be hoping that is only as a precaution, based on the number of injuries we have suffered. Dropping him for just a week after his 2 handball game, would be a joke.

Let's just hope that Campbell can play well West Perth tomorrow.

Dont see the point of pulling someone, not for them to play, and then picking a bloke on a 5 day turnaround.

I dont know if Campbell has been pulled for the Cardy's but I doubt he's in line for a call up as it is.

Surely one of these 3 will be right to play?

That would be my 22.

I predict Murphy will have a blinder for South Fremantle tomorrow and force his way back into the side in place of the injured Headland.

Clarke has been pulled as well.

Expect our outs to be Headland, Johnson, Hill, Schammer, McPharlin

Ins : Clarke, Bradley, Murphy, Hinkley, Balla ( if fit ) otherwise Walters

Maybe they might elevate Pearce,.

Any word on Campbell?

I doubt he'll be pulled, he's been in horrendous form for the Cardies.

Here we go...Murphy again...the hack is back...lets hope he gets more than 2 disposals this time..

lol at reading this thread. We will get steamrolled next week, barring some kind of natural disaster. :D

I'd say Port by 10 goals - if we get closer than that it'll be a bonus. Seriously. How many rookies can you play in one game? What would be the record?

I'd say Murphy will definitely get a gig next week. Should be good for two handballs, 1 kick and one behind. :thumbsu:

Out: Headland, Johnson, Hill, McPharlin

In: Ballantyne, Clarke, Hinkley, Campbell

Both Hill and McPharlin are down as tests, but I would rest them anyway. We don't really have anything to gain from risking them, and we'd be better off going in with 22 (relatively) fit players.

But who am I kidding, the selectors will more than likely pick both Murphy and Gilmore this week instead of Clarke and Campbell. Especially seeing as Gilmore was apparently one of his teams better players yesterday....

Ryan Murphy did his chances of a recall no harm with a four-goal effort in South Fremantle’s narrow loss to East Fremantle in the Foundation Day derby yesterday.

Murphy was anything but dominant, but did get through the match unscathed and, provided he pulls up well this morning, could be considered to play against Port, along with Daniel Gilmore, one of the Bulldogs’ better players yesterday.

I have a feeling Hill will play.

Out: Headland (inj), Johnson (Inj), McPharlin (inj), Dodd (omited)

In: Ballantyne (Hopefully), Clarke, Hinkley, Campbell
