Play Gov fwd and Barrass can play the intercept role down back .

TBH at the moment i think without gov down back we would be a significantly worse side both offensively and defensively. His interception work and rebound are huge assets. The guys i think in trouble are emac and schofield. ATM i'd actually back schofield over emac against key forwards i think emac has lost that much strength. As such against teams with 3 tall forwards or those with 2 tall forwards who also play 2 rucks i'd consider giving barrass some games.

Agreed Barras has been good in the WAFL and Ports best forward is Dixon who is hardly a world beater. Not like he is going up against Franklin, Hawkins and Cameron.

our only hope of winning is that we do actually play our best when going in as heavy underdogs, it would be a pleasant surprise but i think we will really get a lesson with our poor kicking just sending the ball back over our heads. Our best hope is to turn it into a scrap and hope we can last longer. The Eagles have looked good at times this year but have also look average on occasions so you just dont know

Not sure where all the confidence is coming from. We've been rubbish for most of the year. Our away form is clearly in the players heads, which means the team we're playing doesn't matter, if they aren't in the right head space. If we don't come out fired up early, Port are more than capable of making us pay, and getting an early lead. Port haven't looked great, but they'll be better at home, just as we are. I'll be stoked with a win, but definitely not "expecting" one. I hope the players aren't assuming it'll all go their way too.

Watch the presser with Simmo?

They aren't.

Expect a different WCE side this weekend my friend, one not so dissimilar to the home team.

I was listening on the way home from the game, he sounded pissed off, which I liked. Shows he's in no way happy with our current form. I just can't see an away game against Port, no matter what form they're in, being any more than a 50/50 prospect of winning.

If we bring the pressure like we did against the Saints we will have a good win. Our sample size so far though is 1 game with applied pressure and 7 without.

I am hopeful that the team is going to start delivering more consistently from here and have blown out the cobwebs!

Keep the errors to a minimum and apply strong pressure and we'll be fine. I am scared what another away loss will do to our mentality though. Hard to ignore the media pressure as a player. Last year's win against port at AO set us up as contendors. Even though port didn't end up having the year they were expecting, the feeling at the time is that we had just beaten a contender that their home ground and we could beat anyone as a result.

Hopefully port play us into some away form like theydid last season

I have now, and he was fine. The main thing is that he's playing against key forwards and isn't giving up bags of goals. His ball use and confidence will improve as he shakes off the rust.
Emac's ball use has never been his strong point anyhow. His AA credentials were based on stopping tall forwards from having an impact, spoiling and supporting the runners out of the backline. As long as he is doing that and we have the support around him to extract the ball I'm happy. He'll be back to his best soon. Can't say I don't wish he had the disposal of Rance or Weitering though...

Most players are not back to their best until about 24 months from when they did their ACL. 12 months in rehabilitation and 12 months gaining confidence. Look at the way eMac was very easily pushed off the contest against Sydney. He needs to get strength and confidence back in his legs. We need to stop expecting he is back to his 2014 best - realistically will need to wait until 2017.

Don't forget that Emac was top 5 intercept marks in 2014 when he was robbed of an AA.

Mark LeCras also had a day out against the Saints, kicking six majors in what was his biggest haul of the year.

For the first seven rounds of season 2016 West Coast staff has encouraged LeCras to push up the ground to impact the midfield contest, but on Sunday it gave him a licence to score and stay put in the attacking 50m.

Given the results, Simpson said he might have to reconsider LeCras' role in rounds to come.

“I learnt a little about Lecca myself,” Simpson said.

“He played predominantly as a forward since (before) I’ve been at the club and I haven’t actually let him stay as a permanent forward for a long time. I think he had 13-14 possessions, they were all in the forward half and six of them were goals. He also set up a couple as well. It’s something I’ll definitely have to go to at some stage.”

we wanted it and now we got it. simmo finally realises that lecca is better as a deep forward than a forward that pushes into the midfield. I dont mind lecca pushing into the middle time to time but this is where lecca can dominate.

Just recruit some more ****ing mids, Simmo, and let Lecca do his thing in the forward line.

Might not bode well for Hill/Cripps though, if he's expecting to reduce LeCras's midfield time
