I see your point, but at least we gave Porps another chance to show that the 20 odd shit games he played last year were just an anomaly.
Porps has been a passenger for god knows how long.

It's sad really - used to love him as player, most did I think.

Now I just hate him being in the side and the stale policy his continued selection represents

Mark Thompson said something very poignant last night.

He said when you've got talented kids, you play them, and you play them early.

Not playing Matt Crouch the other night was typical of our club's selection table.

I don't know what goes on that table.

This next couple of weeks will be a test of whether Sando learnt his lesson from 2013

Last year early in the season Sando carried the poor form of Porpy, DMac and Radar way to long and it impacted team performance and it wasn't until the season was gone he played the likes of Grigg and more of the young players together in consecutive games and it resulted in our best footy for the year

Sorry to intrude guys, discussion on port board re how you line up against Hoff, Schulz and Butch. Interested in your opinion.

I would go....

Talia on Shultz, I think Shultz got away from Truck on accessions last year however when Talia moved to Shultz he got the job done

That leaves Truck on Butcher and all due respect to Butcher I don't see him as a threat and this will provide an opportunity for Truck to work off Butcher all game

Finally Hoff I would go Brodie Smith, some people don't realise that Brodie is 194cm and has the speed and gutt running to go with Hoff all day and if Hoff doesn't go with him the other way Brodie will hurt you the other way back

Cheers, opposite to what I thought. Any chance a pods/mckernan or Jenkins would go backline?

I was absolutely amazed to see him listed as 194cm on the Crows website. He's had a real growing spurt. Footywire also have listed at that height. Here are his stats from when we drafted him in Nov 2010.

Height: 189cm
Weight: 78kg
DOB: 14/01/92
Club: Woodville-West Torrens (SA)

I think your suggestion of him matching up on the Hof is a good one and I sure hope the selectors give it the consideration it deserves. I also felt we were one top notch mid down against Geelong expecially with B Crouch a bit under done (and Dougie out) and thought it would have been nice to have the luxury of putting Smith in the middle for bursts. Thought CEY could come in to free Smith up, but perhaps having not this week as Smith may have to negate the Hof.

Conservatism.

We have been like that since Blighty left.

Cornes, Shaw and blight got games into the kids.

Ayres and Craig lived on that legacy and Sanderson is afraid to drop some players.

Hoff has traditionally been a thorn in our side and I think there is an opportunity to try something new and IMO Smith can play tallness has the speed and endurance to run with Hoff all day and make Hoff worry about Smith going the other way

Not a bad however Shaw stays in for me and CEY has to wait a bit longer and based on history in terms of how Sando has treated the sub after a loss I would not be surprised if Bob Crouch was an inclusion for Lyons

That's the thing. I don't think he does. When his player runs off him, I get the impression he cheats and prays for that turnover. he often appears to be free and on his own very often or doesn't have a man at all.

That's why he can drop out of games and then drop in very quickly. If we an limit our turnovers and use the player who rubs off him, we can make them pay.

I think I was looking through the website list and noticed that once and just thought it was a typo..
Doesn't look 194cm if that's correct, that's taller than Tex, Pods, LJ, Otten, Rutten and Lynch..
Sam Shaw is listed as 193cm which is surprising too..

And no better player than Smith to get off the leash and bang through a couple big 6 pointers

Hoff does most of his damage when left around to run around by himself all day. I still think he's overrated for this very reason. Most decent forwards don't get that luxury.

As long as it doesn't sacrifice Smith's attacking game, I wouldn't be opposed to that match up.

Hoff dominated Watson in the 2nd quarter last week, when Jamison moved onto him, Hoff didn't sniff the ball..
I know he was on about 90 DT points at half time and finished with 110 ish..

I understand what you are saying but Archie87 makes a really good point by saying he does his most damage when left alone.

Like showdown one last year.

I would sit Shaw on him as a tag. Cut him out if the game.
