Jaensch had 25 (6 contested) disposals at 100% efficiency. 3 tackles. 4 inside 50s and a goal. Stats don't tell the whole picture but anyone suggesting he be dropped doesn't understand football.

I'm not bagging jaensch, I thought he was good with the ball and did a few good defensive things. Regarding his stats though, I think they can be inflated due to him kicking to himself when kicking in from a point. I'm pretty sure that adds to his disposal count. Could be wrong on that though, but if I'm not there's probably 6 kicks right there.

Did Scott Thompson play all the practice games?

He's the major worry for mine. A champ of the club who had a very poor year last year and didn't look near it last night. We know he'll get more time but right now he looks a liability. We don't have a single player who could replace his role when at his best, but a combination of m crouch and Lyons and would provide more value to the midfield over 4 quarters than thommo seems to be able to at present. Depending on m crouch fitness though.

Have seen quite a few posters calling for Douggy….Is he going to be available? No brainer if he's available but please stop getting my hopes up unless you hear he is available.

Oh yes…and IN:
Taylor Walker
Andy Otten
Hendo

:)
Sando said the only realistic possible inclusion is Laird..

The Crows' long injury list did not grow any longer on Thursday night but the coach said midfielder Rory Laird is the only realistic inclusion for round two. He admitted defender Brent Reilly was keen to play but he remained a long shot as he recovers from a shoulder reconstruction.

I'm with Sanders. Hardly concerning stuff. Esp with the outs.

Put dougie tex otten reilly in for martin pods shaw porps and things would change quickly.
A few structure issues that saw us burnt by turnovers.
Still learning this handball game as well.

Laird in
Odd of props or Martin out.
Jaensch fwd. Laird back.
Its not losing that's the issue. Its the way we did it. When you hit the front early in the last quarter you are not meant to get done by 38 points.

In reality this was a very winnable game. To say 'oh well it was a Geelong home game so its ok' is a cop out. It was a very winnable game.

Yeah we got into a position to win. Given some of the issues out there I'm just not surprised we didn't. Those issues don't fix themselves in a quarter. Or in 24 hours of Internet whinging post game.

Spot on.

The fumbling and unaccountable defense need to be addressed. The 1st is composure, the 2nd might be personnel.

Missed goals. We need to be more aware of the option open in the square.

IF we must play Jaensch, it can't be in defense. Too much cute handballing until it comes undone. We need laird back there.

We need to protect Dangerfield. This can be addressed with game plan and players doing the team thing.

Inexperience bit us too. This is something that we have to deal with until we pump more games into the quality young players.

I agree with you about Thompson. He just doesn't look competitive anymore. Meanwhile Lyons got 9 possessions in a single quarter. Not a bad return.

He's to Sando what Tex was to Craig.

Seems like he has to do twice as much as anybody else to get half the chance.

In Laird, Petrenko, Hartigan
OUT: You could drop any of the following and mark their card "Never to play again, just not up to this standard".

McKay, Porp, Shaw, Jaensch and Martin.

We have zero depth.

Did Scott Thompson play all the practice games?

The fact he didn't have surgery until halfway through the pre season to address and injury he'd been carrying for almost twelve ****ing months might be a factor.

Really? I am yet to see what all the hype is about with Lyons.

Haven't we seen enough of Martin (19 games), McKay (106 games), Porp (127 games) and Jaensch (46 games)? Have we seen enough of Lyons (13 games)?

Can someone tell me who the player was who in the third quarter on the wing/halfback area for Adelaide broadcast side went up and flew for a massive spoil but didn't kill the ball and it fell out the back for an easy Geelong clearance and shot on goal?

Shaw did a similar thing in the last quarter right in the middle of the ground near half back and let it get behind him which led to a goal... Just wondering if it was him in the third quarter too (couldn't see who it was from my position on the ground)

We saw our depth on display last night.
That depth had us in front at the start of the 4th. It wasn't the depth players that cost us the game IMO.
It was getting used to our new gameplan and needing more experience in our younger guys.
Also our best midfielders probably 15 to 20 touches down collectively from their best games.
Not sure its a 'depth' issue.

I am unconvinced that our CHF can also be our second ruckman. Sauce competed well last night but was unable to cover the ground well enough to compete with Simpson and McIntosh. I must also say I reckon Blicavs is a pretty handy sub. Logic says that we should have had an advantage when Lyons came on and they subbed on another ruckman. The reality was I reckon Blicavs provided more run than Lyons.
