I gave it a fleeting thought last night.

It would either be a match-winning move or an absolute stinker. You could just imagine McKernan and Jenkins stinking it up in tandem, and the result would be ten times worse than what happened last night.

Jenkins could not possibly offer less than what Pods gave us last night.

agree with this... Pods was useless, did nothing.

thought Jaensche was ok. we really lacked class in the middle last night, felt we really felt the loss of douglas out there, that really hurt.

not so sure BoB would be an improvement, but still would be better to see him out there than some of the older underperformers.

SJ pretty much dropped his head straight into it to win a free. I'm not sure if LJ even got his head in the end, might have been his upper back.

You didn't need a degree in lip reading to know that SJ thought the report was "bullshit".
Yup SJ didn't think it was worth a report.
I think LJ should get off actually. They seem to be showing a desire to bring back a 'let them play' attitude this year. Will be interesting case.

We've created a rod for our own back with the Porplyzia selection. It's very harsh to drop a guy after Round 1.

But Matt Crouch needs to be in that team.

Who thinks we should play all three of Jenkins, McKernan and Jacobs?
I'm okay with it. Pods can play back if needed next week.

Pods really needs to lift but I would play him against port. They have an average defense he could capitalise on and be damaging against. Unless JJ kills it in the twos and demands selection

So during the pre season we implored our selectors not to pick under done players and pick guys on form. We did that, and now certain sectors are bagging them for picking these guys.

Alas ill move on, Porps plays forward full time or not at all, probably the latter when Lynch and/or Otten are back. On Lynch, do we take his hard working attitude and flexibility over LJ greater scoreboard impact but lower workrate ?? Pods gets the benefit of the doubt this week but would want a much better performance, Martin the same although Reilly or Laird are much better options.

Jaensch to move to HF to work over the young fella Impey, see how he can defend. Jenkins is a huge chance to play and if LJ is somehow suspended then hes in. Changes are going to be hard to make with too many guys out, maybe Douglas will play but it sounds unlikely.

Outs- Martin, Porplyzia, Thompson
Ins- Laird, Jenkins, Douglas/M Crouch is Douglas isnt fit

I cant remember who it was, but I questioned Pods in the pre-season games and got absolutely slaughtered for it..
how times have changed

He had plenty of ball, but that was the problem. When he handballed around it became diabolical. His good was really good, the bad was costly.

Zero clangers for the game. He was no more or less responsible than anyone else for the handball bs that went on. Game-plan pure and simple. We have the cattle, we don't have the coaching nous to use the cattle well.

I like the idea of adding Jenkins along with pods and Smack and sauce. It's a gamble but port don't have enough height nor the bodies to go with them, or else we could just do the same ol' same ol' and lose by a small margin by structuring up the same as the last few times we've handed them the points.

**** I want a full team to play Port. Looking forward to the second meeting, with hopefully Tex etc.

He handballed to a player who was going to be in trouble. He has to take equal responsibility as the player receiving the ball. Good players don't sell players into trouble on a regular basis.

Forgot about Shaw, never really rated the guy much. Not so much the attitude, I like that he wants to take the game on but he has to know his limits. Hartigan provides much more defensive cover with less offensive action.

Like a lot of posters on here you are singling out a player you don't like and inventing reasons he should not play. Jaensch was easily in our best players last night and won't be dropped v Port.
(oh, and I do rate you highly as a poster).

Shaw cost us so many goals last night & is just not AFL ready. May as well give Westoff the Showdown medal now if he plays. Think Hartigan needs to come in to help match the Port 2 tall forward - or CEY.

If Pods is injured - was playing 1 handed after that tackle, he needs to make way for JJ.

Lyons needs a full game next week, so would make Martin (or Porps) sub. I wouldn't go over-board on changes (& we don't have many options), but likes of Porps would want to pull their finger out.

Kane, who do you think the crows best matchup is for Westhoff?

Otten would be the guy........

Its why Hartigan should play, let him run around behind the ball butt as soon as he goes past halfway dont let him an arms length away. Its a tough ask for a young guy but lets see what hes got.

Did some good things. Certainly better than I expected. I liked his kicking and the way he took the game on, not afraid to run and carry. I just don't like him in defense at all because he will always have those massive brain farts where he creates pressure out of nothing.

That run across half back instigating an unnecessary chain of handballs that put each player consecutively under more pressure was text book jaensch. I'd prefer to see him on a wing or HFF where his mistakes will be less costly and he can use is leg delivering inside 50 or giving it the occasional roost at goal

I couldn't believe this piece of play! Was it a set movement? Best player at 100% efficiency? Sheesh. Talk about Malaysian airline pilots.
