Jaensch very good tonight. Not sure how you can think otherwise.

Thought we lacked a high half forward tonight at times. Can anyone else play that role other than lynch?

Laird, Reilly and Jenkins will all come in I think (fingers crossed on Dougie).

Porpoise has to be dropped (Jenkins comes in here)... Shaw won't go anywhere.

Martin out for Laird, with Jaensch pushing up to more of a HFF/wing role. Mackay won't go anywhere, but he should be making way for Radar.

Not blind yet - had a few!
Nope not convinced on Jaensch - what does he give us? Laird is much more damaging and I am so much more comfortable with the ball in his hands. Jaensch cannot defend one on one therefore he is not a defender -he constantly gets caught out and it costs our team goals! He gives away crucial goals and his one big bomb doesn't make up for it.
Whatever.

Changes

In

Dougie if fit, if not Knight/Cameron
Hartigan
M. Crouch

Out
Shaw
Thompson (ideally for Crouch) or Lyons
Martin

I would also pull the trigger on Laird for Jaesnch if Laird is fit. No knocks to Jaesnch but Laird is a league above and the more games we put into him, the better he'll be.

Should never have been selected in the first place. Was able to do whatever he wanted with no pressure, and as soon as the real stuff starts we remember he's too slow.

It is obvious with Martin that he is nervous. Doesn't feel he has the support and makes uncharasteristic errors by foot. He is a good kick but just panics and kicks short balls of target when he should use his long leg. It is always the kicks of one leg he stuffs up. We have to leave hime in there for three or four games for once so he can feel settled. He got to the ball ok and did some okay things but Big Footy supporters only remember the turnovers.

Out:
Shaw, Martin, Porps
Ins:
Douglas, Hartigan, Cameron as the sub

JJ possibly for Pods, just looked slow. Couple of great unrewarded tackles thou. Can't take anyone into the Showdown under an injury cloud.

I made the comment early on that Jaensch is a terrible footballer. He isnt, hes just a terrible defender. One of the few that can count himself as safe. Selection next week will be tough, no one was utter garbage, although Thommo was sadly close, but very few did everything required.

Laird, Douglas and Reilly come back in and possibly Jenkins too. Port are a pretty tall side so do we match them for height or do we pick the extra runner like tonight ?? Be interested to see if we pull the trigger on Cameron during the week to add another X Factor

All I remember with Martin is killing in the preseason and then not delivering when the real games start. Can't get too many more chances and won't when players return from injury.

I am no Jaensch fan but he was fine tonight particularly after half time.

Crouch showed why Reilly and Laird shouldn't come in next week, no matter how tempted we are. One SANFL pre-season hit out ain't enough to go into the heat of a big AFL game on.

Pods must go, Jenkins in for him.

Martin out, no impact, Douglas in if available but otherwise Cameron or Matt Crouch.

And your knowledgeable opinion is...
Actually wrote it then deleted it because its fairly obvious you have made your mind up no matter what. He's not the worst defender, not the best, but to say Jaensch is a contributing factor in why we lost tonight is just laughable. Hence the .

Reilly will have done all the running and played 2 games. Thats enough for a senior player.

Yes good call we have recruited him as a small forward and then attempted to transform him into a defender which he isn't!

No where did I say he was why we lost, however, when there is 18 players on the field and one of those is not up to it, it means we are going to struggle -he is by no means the only one but he has had his chances and he is not up to it -he weapon is his long kick -he used it once tonight and a couple of times in the preseason - his achilles is his little 18 metre sideways kicks and poor handballs - give me Lyons anytime!!

Forgot he played v Sturt. I'd prefer we persisted with Shaw. He made a couple of very visible and costly mistakes tonight, but I actually thought he was pretty good for most of the night.

Too many SANFL players running round in a Crows guernsey.

To be honest I thought Porps was very average. Martin and Shaw too.

I thought Jaensch was decent up until his last piece of work in defense. He seems a little bit too "gung-ho" for my liking. Did he ever kick it to a leading target when he was kicking it back in. Kicks it to himself, runs to the boundary, long bomb to a contest... not good enough. He made up for it with his goal though.

Out
Shaw, Martin, Porps, Pods

In
Douglas, Hartigan, M Crouch, JJ

We only notice him when he makes errors. If we dont see him at all hes done his job

I agree Jaensch didn't look too bad apart from a few poor 1 on 1 defensive errors.

I can see them dropping Lyons for not using his fresh legs to utilise his raw and blistering pace and run over the top of Geelong. Seriously, if this guy makes it, he will have done it the hard way. He really should be looked at to replace Thompson, who is a real liability. They have very similar attributes as football players, however one is slowing down and struggling to take the ball cleanly.

LJ is an interesting player. He's not quite as one dimensional as Jack Anthony, but he's not far off. Really needs to lift his intensity to survive. 3 goals is a good return, but his second efforts and defensive pressure are still well below standard. Pods was, sadly, even less effective.
