He must have repeated it again this morning on Game Day (the channel 7 show)

That was his first point he learn about the game.

Didn't hear his comments post game however I read his article pre game where he previewed all sides and he rated our depth

If true, isn't that even more meaningless?

JB did an article leading up to round 1 to preview the season and all clubs, from memory in this article he rated our depth now whether that is meaningful or not I don't really give a toss, I was just commenting on what I read

Considering it's a Port home ground what sort of split can we expect in terms of crowd support?

Pods was one of the leading contested markers in the game along with Cloke over his first couple of seasons (was definitely ranked top 3 for one or two of those seasons), it's always been a strength of his.

His last couple of seasons are the only ones of relevance though.

Our midfield on paper is better .......but the games not played on paper, and Port have a faster side than us which is where, if we don't get our hands on the ball first, we'll get sliced thru like butter

No it isn't, at least not since Thompson was still an AA calibre midfielder.

Last 4 years?

What about the last 2 years?

What about the last year?

Took 27 in 2012 and 38 last year.

In comparison, $kurt took 50 in 2012 with a whopping 7 against hawks in that final and Tex took 36.

Not all that bad for someone that we picked up on the cheap, who is there to fill in a temporary hole and provide a truckload of experience and knowledge to our younger players....

All teams we face that are genuine finals contenders have midfield quality and depth however it's time for our A Graders to step up and lead from the front

Again total respect to Port however I would back in Danger, Sloane, Thompson, Crouch and Douglas against Boak, Ebert, Cornes, Broadbent and Cassisi

Before anyone throws in Wingard and Hartlett these two traditionally play more of a High HF and Sweeping HB role respectively

traditionally the case yep

Against Carlton started in the middle and played a lot more there also did in the pre season, actually think he won't make the AA this year, will play to much midfield and not kick enough goals to play up forward

Surely the calls from the media about Graham helping Jacobs in ruck won't happen?

Hartlett is used for those 5 minute spurts in the middle before being rested onto a wing/HBF

Douglas chances of playing? B Crouch would be 100% fit?

My apology..... We should include Wines and Grigg
I would have thought Polec may rate a mention too after his game last week. The problem, as usual for us, is lack of leg speed. The Cats were able to run around us like witches hats on occasions. Only hope we can shut down Port's runners, as when we had the ball we weren't bad...we are bad when the opposition has it though!

I said this in the other thread however I do believe that playing Geelong @ Geelong was perfect preperation for us for the the Showdown as Skilled stadium is similar ground dimensions to Adelaide oval with Adelaide Oval wings even tighter by about 9m
Many experts do believe that it is the tight wings at Geelong that may it very difficult for opposition sides to win at Geelong and given that AO wings are 9m more narrow it may be a case of playing at Geelong in round 1 gives us a head start look and feel in match conditions prior to this clash

If it worth a goal or two Ill take it

I think it will be more like our traditional home games but the other way around. I think 75 -25 might be generous. But it will be our hard core fans who are there, so it will be a superb atomosphere.

With respect to Bartel, while he is an absolute superstar player, his credentials as a list manager are non-existent. How would he even be aware how good or otherwise the depth is in a club he doesn't play for, in another state? Chance are he's barely (if at all) seen the majority of our depth players actually play.

I think he was just being polite.

OUT: Shaw and Martin (Both finished at the AFC)
IN: Hartigan and Reilly

Smack and Jaensch were good. Just the usual Big Footy crowd cant see through the hate of their whipping boys.
JPod and JPorp were rubbish, lucky a couple of guys are still at least another week away.

Talia - Westhoff
Rutten - Schulz
Hartigan - Butcher
Sub - JPorp

kind of true, but you don't have to be all that clever to look at our list and see that there are a lot of mid field players on our list. On paper it does look like we have some decent depth.

Statistics don't tell the true story - he is not good enough - is there a stat for chasing Bartell's arse as he kicked a goal?

DERP DERP DERP he wasnt on Bartel. You've said it like 5 times now and its still wrong.
