I'd like to see Lyons given a full game in the mids and hope his clearance skills can help, especially against Wines, he had 11 clearances against the Blues, can't allow that much. I fully expect him to be dropped however.

Dougy is in if he's healthy, same as Laird, I'd go those two in for Martin and Porps.
Perhaps Douglas can come in to be the sub as underdone - like B Crouch should have been last week, which gives Lyons a start.

I think just as important as who is in an who is out this week, is who we will play as sub. Particularly in showdowns we need to use the sub as a tactical advantage.

Lyons was great in the last quarter, but he's not exactly an X factor sub. We need an outside player (porps or grigg), or somebody with manic energy (Petrenko), or a goal kicker (lj). Anybody who can be clean and take advantage of their fresh legs.

its very obvious that Port are pushing this fitness edge line through the media and in press conferences and there is no doubt that is is an attempt to attain an extra advantage, if scores are close at 3 qtr time they want the opposition to believe before the last qtr start that Port has an edge in fitness

I dont think Douglas is underdone fitness wise, he completed preseason training and was injured in the last practice match. I would inject him straight away without a 2nd doubt.

Based on last weeks performances, I would be making B Crouch wear the green vest and giving Lyons the whole game. We just cant afford to have a primary midfielder running around with that level of fitness and input against a side like Port. 12 pretty useless possessions in 3 quarters.....o_O

On the contrary. They are trying desperately to get Crouchy match fit.

Which is why we are stuck between a rock and a hard place here. If we want to win against sides like Sydney and Port, given the way our midfield performed against the Cats, im not sure we can afford to have Crouch starting. Would much rather give Lyons a chance. Let Crouchy gain his fitness over the easier period of 4 rounds we having coming after these 2 games, and then work him even harder over the bye period.

It was actually 2.5 quarters. At half time he was our equal 2nd highest possession getter on the ground I think. He won't get more match fit by being the sub. He'll have better match fitness this week after playing last week.

Cant see him making the squad, he wasnt in our best 6-8 players in the SANFL and hes simply not ready to go just yet......... but he will be.

IMO Crouch, Laird, Radar, Pets, Spina, Hartigan, CEY and Atkins. What I will say about Cameron is that what he did do was very impressive and his goal kicking looked assured however their were guys who were more consistent.

He will have his time no doubt but its not yet. As I said earlier though if they do pick him I wont complain.
