FFS - so f....g predictable. Porps gold pass is alive and well.

How much more crap can one player serve up before he's cut.

Lyons had about the same output in a quarter and a half.

No problem with the ins, but Lyons instead of Porps is shocking

Before you go nuts. Perhaps they don't want Lyons being the sub 2 weeks in a row?

I am glad that Porps gets another go. If he fails in the Showdown and Sydney game and gets a game week 4 - I will be lighting your torch as we assemble a lynch-mob to head down to Adelaide headquarters.

Two years ago I would have never imagined myself saying this but I am so happy we've got Douggie back! He's lost the roller skates and has developed into a genuine and strong b-grade midfielder who is just so consistent. An extremely good supporting act for Danger, Sloane and Crouch:thumbsu:.

Very interesting...

Suspect quite a few on notice and if we bungle this Showdown badly a full on broom will go through the team.

Expecting a HUGE response from our midfield who were very poor against the Cats.

Good to see Dick Douglas back, massive cog in our midfield. Very iffy about Reilly.... missed alot of footy and will either have his trademark 'lost' look or surprise everyone and be a sound half back mover.

i just feel Lyons is the victim of having midfield in which its inside midfielders are its best midfielders.
This team's midfield is so ****ing overrated.

If our inside midfielders are so good, why did they get utterly trounced last week?

Why were we a shit side last year?

Why was Lyons our highest clearance winner when he only played for a quarter?

If Sewell pulled a game even close to what Thompson or Porps produced last week, he'd be lining up for Box Hill the next week. Woodward or Hallahan would take his place.

Instead Adelaide drops the one who played competently.

Lyons is a natural replacement for Thommo and the way he's been playing, maybe there's a chance that the guard will have changed there before the year is out. I'd like to see Martin given a proper run for Porps if he can't show something too. However, understandable why the senior players get the nod at this point in time.

I just dropped in to read all the indignation about Lyons being dropped.

Ended up disappointed. Too much common senseand rational thought being displayed.

Seriously tho' I think Lyons will be a regular once Thommo retires.

Agree 100% really need one or two more super consistent mids for the others to get into it.

They badly need better coaching about stoppages and the subtle changes on how to position around contests. I lost count last week how many times the Cats got two quick handballs out of the contest and had men free everywhere. Look at so many games last year, teams r*ped us at this stuff.

When you look at our midfielders one by one they stack up well against any other team in the comp. It has to be our structures and/or fitness that let us down in 2013 and round 1. Nothing wrong with the players. Hopefully we can turn it on 2012 style starting this week

Lyons is stiff. Reilly in after only one game in the 2s doesn't fill me with confidence. Think we too often throw youngsters in the deep end and expect them to perform against teams like Geelong at home. I think our selectors need to have a little more faith in the selected teams and don't just react to the result. We didn't loose that game because of Martin and Lyons. I understand having Dougie back required 1 player to drop out this week but Reilly has played 1 reserves game only since his injury 9 months ago. This does not make sense. We aren't doing him any favours by bringing him back before he is ready. If he is fumbly he will be blamed if we lose. This is the reality of his selection and the way most supporters will react.

Reilly has played 2 sanfl games.

Names mean nothing.

2014 Porplyzia isn't 2009 Porplyzia. 2014 Thompson isn't 2006-2012 Thompson.

Ask the Fremantle midfield how scared they were of the Collingwood big names.

Where is the common sense when looking at stats. In a quarter and a bit Lyons has

9 poss/6 contested
4 clearances
4 tackles

In a whole game Porps has

11 poss/3 contested
1 clearance
2 tackles

In a side that rates it's midfield a whole lot higher than what it actually performs there is absolutely no common sense whatsoever in selection.
